Download or read book The Art Assassin written by Albert Wang and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2010-07-12 with total page 725 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this provocative and groundbreaking nonfiction novel, Albert Wang who is an investigative reporter in the tradition of Hunter Thompson and Norman Mailer reinvents his fictional alter-ego qi peng as a Utah conceptual artist who is trying to make it into the contemporary art world, particularly New York City, from a relative unknown. This mystery novel begins with qi peng's suicide within his future and leads down a darker path into this emerging artist's sordid past as he aspires to find love and appreciation from his fellow artists/characters/celebrities... Wang's controversial reportage as an act of performance art focuses on the spiritual "murder" of the soul as a counterpart to Truman Capote's classic book, "In Cold Blood," that looks at physical murder of humans.
Download or read book Physics at the Terascale written by Ian Brock and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-05-04 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by authors working at the forefront of research, this accessible treatment presents the current status of the field of collider-based particle physics at the highest energies available, as well as recent results and experimental techniques. It is clearly divided into three sections; The first covers the physics -- discussing the various aspects of the Standard Model as well as its extensions, explaining important experimental results and highlighting the expectations from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The second is dedicated to the involved technologies and detector concepts, and the third covers the important - but often neglected - topics of the organisation and financing of high-energy physics research. A useful resource for students and researchers from high-energy physics.

Download or read book Art on the Block written by Ann Fensterstock and published by St. Martin's Press. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fascinating tour of the last five decades of contemporary art in New York City, showing how artists are catalysts of gentrification and how neighborhoods in turn shape their art--with special insights into the work of artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cindy Sherman, and Jeff Koons Stories of New York City's fabled art scene conjure up artists' lofts in SoHo, studios in Brooklyn, and block after block of galleries in Chelsea. But today, no artist can afford a SoHo loft, Brooklyn has long gentrified, and even the galleries of Chelsea are beginning to move on. Art on the Block takes the reader on a journey through the neighborhoods that shape, and are shaped by, New York's ever-evolving art world. Based on interviews with over 150 gallery directors, as well as the artists themselves, art historian and cultural commentator Ann Fensterstock explores the genesis, expansion, maturation and ultimate restless migration of the New York art world from one initially undiscovered neighborhood to the next. Opening with the colonization of the desolate South Houston Industrial District in the late 1960s, the book follows the art world's subsequent elopements to the East Village in the ‘80s, Brooklyn in the mid-90s, Chelsea at the beginning of the new millennium and, most recently, to the Lower East Side. With a look to the newest neighborhoods that artists are just now beginning to occupy, this is a must-read for both art enthusiasts as well as anyone with a passion for New York City.

Book excerpt: This catalogue accompanying the 2017 edition of MOMENTA Biennale de l'image (the new name for Le Mois de la Photo Montral) explores the theme, What Does the Image Stand For?Images are now so insidiously omnipresent that their nature has been obliterated.Once, photographs were indicators of reality, but today? Now that images of the whole wide world are captured by everyone at every moment, what do images have to say?By considering the content and meaning of fixed and moving images, the 38 artists and 6 authors in this volume invite readers to cast a critical eye at the testimonials on offer.Including the work of Adel Abdessemed, Yto Barrada, Mircea Cantor, Camille Henrot, and Taryn Simon, among many others.Accompanies the exhibition, MOMENTA Biennale de l'image 2017, 7 Sep - 15 Oct 2017, Montral, Qubec.English edition.

Download or read book Molecular Dynamics written by Ben Leimkuhler and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-05-18 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the mathematical underpinnings of algorithms used for molecular dynamics simulation, including both deterministic and stochastic numerical methods. Molecular dynamics is one of the most versatile and powerful methods of modern computational science and engineering and is used widely in chemistry, physics, materials science and biology. Understanding the foundations of numerical methods means knowing how to select the best one for a given problem (from the wide range of techniques on offer) and how to create new, efficient methods to address particular challenges as they arise in complex applications. Aimed at a broad audience, this book presents the basic theory of Hamiltonian mechanics and stochastic differential equations, as well as topics including symplectic numerical methods, the handling of constraints and rigid bodies, the efficient treatment of Langevin dynamics, thermostats to control the molecular ensemble, multiple time-stepping, and the dissipative particle dynamics method.

Download or read book Correlations And Multiparticle Production Camp Proceedings Of The Workshop On Local Equilibrium In Strong Interaction Physics Lesip Iv written by M Plumer and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1991-01-30 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main theme of this workshop, the fourth meeting in the LESIP series, is correlations and Fluctuations in strong interaction processes. While the emphasis was on Bose-Einstein correlations between identical particles, other kinds of correlations (between non-identical particles, multiplicity distributions, transverse energy distributions, inelasticity distributions etc.) were addressed. The recent developments in fractal dynamics, intermittency, deterministic chaos and information entropy and their roles in high energy physics also was addressed. Finally, transverse energy distributions and inelasticity distributions, insofar as they impart information about thermalization of the energy available for hadronization, was discussed. These issues are of relevance for the current searches for Quark-Gluon-Plasma. The goal of the workshop is to provide a forum for the presentation of new experimental results.
