The chapters - from the basics, production and characterization of organic solids and layers to organic semiconductors, superconductors and opto-electronical applications - have been arranged in a logical and well thought-out order.
Download or read book Proceedings of the International Workshop on Physics and Technology of Thin Films written by Alireza Zaker Moshfegh and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thin film science and technology plays an important role in the high-tech industries. The production of thin films for device purposes has been developed over the past 40 years. Thin films as a two-dimensional system are of great importance to many real-world problems. Their material costs are very small as compared to the corresponding bulk material and they perform the same function when it comes to surface processes. Thus, knowledge and determination of the nature, functions and new properties of thin films can be used for the development of new technologies for future applications. Some of the important applications of thin films are microelectronics, communications, optical electronics, catalysis, coating of all kinds, and energy generation and conservation strategies. This book emphasizes the importance of thin films in new technologies. It presents basic concepts, techniques, materials, processing and applications of thin films. As thin film physics and technology is a multidisciplinary filed, the book will be useful to a wide variety of readers (especially young researchers) in physics, electronic engineering, materials science and metallurgy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text provides a concise introduction to all aspects of light-induced processes in chemistry, physics and biology, as well as in medicine and industry. It is up to date with the latest advances in the field, in particular the probing of the fastest light-induced reactions on picosecond and femtosecond time scales, and is based on the photochemistry and photophysics degree course devised by the author. Chemistry and Light is a must for final year undergraduates, as well as for post-graduate students. It will prove extremely useful for teachers in the preparation of courses and seminars and will provide essential background information for industrial chemists, in one complete source. The book reflects the enthusiasm the author has for his subject, as well as his talent for clear description. Chemistry and Light will be welcomed by students and research workers alike.
Download or read book Materials and Measurements in Molecular Electronics written by Koji Kajimura and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials and Measurements in Molecular Electronics presents new developments in one of the most promising areas of electronics technology for the 21st century. Conjugated polymers, carbon clusters, and many other new molecular materials have been synthesized or discovered in recent years, and some now are on the threshold of commercial application. In the development of molecular materials, detailed knowledge of the structures and electronic states of molecular aggregates is essential. The focus of this book is on the development of new molecular materials and measuring techniques based on modern spectroscopy; included are such topics as Langmuir-Blodgett films, cluster materials, organic conductors, and conjugated electroluminescent polymers.

Download or read book Optical and Electronic Process of Nano Matters written by Motoichi Ohtsu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sizes of electronic and photonic devices are decreasing drastically in order to increase the degree of integration for large-capacity and ultrahigh speed signal transmission and information processing. This miniaturization must be rapidly progressed from now onward. For this progress, the sizes of materials for composing these devices will be also decreased to several nanometers. If such a nanometer-sized material is combined with the photons and/or some other fields, it can exhibit specific characters, which are considerably different from those ofbulky macroscopic systems. This combined system has been called as a mesoscopic system. The first purpose of this book is to study the physics of the mesoscopic system. For this study, it is essential to diagnose the characteristics of miniaturized devices and materials with the spatial resolution as high as several nanometers or even higher. Therefore, novel methods, e.g., scanning probe microscopy, should be developed for such the high-resolution diagnostics. The second purpose of this book is to explore the possibility of developing new methods for these diagnostics by utilizing local interaction between materials and electron, photon, atomic force, and so on. Conformation and structure of the materials of the mesoscopic system can be modified by enhancing the local interaction between the materials and electromagnetic field. This modification can suggest the possibility of novel nano-fabrication methods. The third purpose of this book is to explore the methods for such nano-fabrication.

Download or read book Advances in Superconductivity XII written by T. Yamashita and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 1162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 12th International Symposium on Superconductivity was held in Morioka, Japan, October 17-19, 1999. Convened annually since 1988, the symposium covers the whole field of superconductivity from fundamental physics and chemistry to a variety of applications. At the 12th Symposium, a mini-symposium focusing on the two-dimensionality of high-temperature superconductors, or the c-axis transport, and a session on vortex physics were organized. There were also many reports on the recent developments of YBCO-based coated conductors both in the United States and in Japan, AC losses of wires and tapes, developments of bulk materials with strong flux pinning, the recent progress in thin film and junction technologies, and the demonstration of various electronics applications using SQUIDs, microwave devices, and single-flux-quantum (SFQ) digital devices. This volume is a valuable resource for all those working in the field of superconductivity.
