Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Sommaire Introduction Chapitre premier. Sous-ensembles flous : principaux concepts Deuxième chapitre. Raisonnement en logique floue Troisième chapitre. Commande floue Conclusion Bibliographie Table des matières

Book Thesaurus of Information Sciences and Technologies

Download or read book Thesaurus of Information Sciences and Technologies written by Denis Beauchemin and published by Laval : Canadian Workplace Automation Research Centre. This book was released on 1992 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1987, the Integrated Service of Information Resources (ISIR) of the Canadian Workplace Automation Research Centre began to set up a bibliographic data base to manage and make usable its documentation collection. To successfully process the information relevant to the various subject fields, the ISIR had to develop a controlled documentation language that eventually became this thesaurus. Terms are arranged alphabetically in English and French with equivalents in the other language and relationships to other terms in the thesaurus. A hierarchical list is also included. Subject fields include computer science, telecommunications, optics, acoustics and graphics and their specific information-processing applications (production, conversion, storage, distribution and access).

Book Philosophy in a Time of Terror

Download or read book Philosophy in a Time of Terror written by Giovanna Borradori and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2013-05-28 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea for Philosophy in a Time of Terror was born hours after the attacks on 9/11 and was realized just weeks later when Giovanna Borradori sat down with Jürgen Habermas and Jacques Derrida in New York City, in separate interviews, to evaluate the significance of the most destructive terrorist act ever perpetrated. This book marks an unprecedented encounter between two of the most influential thinkers of our age as here, for the first time, Habermas and Derrida overcome their mutual antagonism and agree to appear side by side. As the two philosophers disassemble and reassemble what we think we know about terrorism, they break from the familiar social and political rhetoric increasingly polarized between good and evil. In this process, we watch two of the greatest intellects of the century at work.

Book Evaluation and Decision Models

Download or read book Evaluation and Decision Models written by Denis Bouyssou and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1. 1 Motivations Deciding is a very complex and difficult task. Some people even argue that our ability to make decisions in complex situations is the main feature that distinguishes us from animals (it is also common to say that laughing is the main difference). Nevertheless, when the task is too complex or the interests at stake are too important, it quite often happens that we do not know or we are not sure what to decide and, in many instances, we resort to a decision support technique: an informal one-we toss a coin, we ask an oracle, we visit an astrologer, we consult an expert, we think-or a formal one. Although informal decision support techniques can be of interest, in this book, we will focus on formal ones. Among the latter, we find some well-known decision support techniques: cost-benefit analysis, multiple criteria decision analysis, decision trees, . . . But there are many other ones, sometimes not presented as decision support techniques, that help making decisions. Let us cite but a few examples. • When the director of a school must decide whether a given student will pass or fail, he usually asks each teacher to assess the merits of the student by means of a grade. The director then sums the grades and compares the result to a threshold. • When a bank must decide whether a given client will obtain a credit or not, a technique, called credit scoring, is often used.

Book Aggregation and Fusion of Imperfect Information

Download or read book Aggregation and Fusion of Imperfect Information written by Bernadette Bouchon-Meunier and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997-11-18 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the main tools for aggregation of information given by several members of a group or expressed in multiple criteria, and for fusion of data provided by several sources. It focuses on the case where the availability knowledge is imperfect, which means that uncertainty and/or imprecision must be taken into account. The book contains both theoretical and applied studies of aggregation and fusion methods in the main frameworks: probability theory, evidence theory, fuzzy set and possibility theory. The latter is more developed because it allows to manage both imprecise and uncertain knowledge. Applications to decision-making, image processing, control and classification are described.

Book Soft Methods for Handling Variability and Imprecision

Download or read book Soft Methods for Handling Variability and Imprecision written by Didier Dubois and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-10-01 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Probability theory has been the only well-founded theory of uncertainty for a long time. It was viewed either as a powerful tool for modelling random phenomena, or as a rational approach to the notion of degree of belief. During the last thirty years, in areas centered around decision theory, artificial intelligence and information processing, numerous approaches extending or orthogonal to the existing theory of probability and mathematical statistics have come to the front. The common feature of those attempts is to allow for softer or wider frameworks for taking into account the incompleteness or imprecision of information. Many of these approaches come down to blending interval or fuzzy interval analysis with probabilistic methods. This book gathers contributions to the 4th International Conference on Soft methods in Probability and Statistics. Its aim is to present recent results illustrating such new trends that enlarge the statistical and uncertainty modeling traditions, towards the handling of incomplete or subjective information. It covers a broad scope ranging from philosophical and mathematical underpinnings of new uncertainty theories, with a stress on their impact in the area of statistics and data analysis, to numerical methods and applications to environmental risk analysis and mechanical engineering. A unique feature of this collection is to establish a dialogue between fuzzy random variables and imprecise probability theories.
