Book Encyclopedia of Systems and Control

Download or read book Encyclopedia of Systems and Control written by John Baillieul and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-29 with total page 1554 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Encyclopedia of Systems and Control collects a broad range of short expository articles that describe the current state of the art in the central topics of control and systems engineering as well as in many of the related fields in which control is an enabling technology. The editors have assembled the most comprehensive reference possible, and this has been greatly facilitated by the publisher’s commitment continuously to publish updates to the articles as they become available in the future. Although control engineering is now a mature discipline, it remains an area in which there is a great deal of research activity, and as new developments in both theory and applications become available, they will be included in the online version of the encyclopedia. A carefully chosen team of leading authorities in the field has written the well over 250 articles that comprise the work. The topics range from basic principles of feedback in servomechanisms to advanced topics such as the control of Boolean networks and evolutionary game theory. Because the content has been selected to reflect both foundational importance as well as subjects that are of current interest to the research and practitioner communities, a broad readership that includes students, application engineers, and research scientists will find material that is of interest.

Book Process Modelling and Simulation

Download or read book Process Modelling and Simulation written by César de Prada and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-09-23 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since process models are nowadays ubiquitous in many applications, the challenges and alternatives related to their development, validation, and efficient use have become more apparent. In addition, the massive amounts of both offline and online data available today open the door for new applications and solutions. However, transforming data into useful models and information in the context of the process industry or of bio-systems requires specific approaches and considerations such as new modelling methodologies incorporating the complex, stochastic, hybrid and distributed nature of many processes in particular. The same can be said about the tools and software environments used to describe, code, and solve such models for their further exploitation. Going well beyond mere simulation tools, these advanced tools offer a software suite built around the models, facilitating tasks such as experiment design, parameter estimation, model initialization, validation, analysis, size reduction, discretization, optimization, distributed computation, co-simulation, etc. This Special Issue collects novel developments in these topics in order to address the challenges brought by the use of models in their different facets, and to reflect state of the art developments in methods, tools and industrial applications.

Book Robust Model Predictive Control for Large Scale Manufacturing Systems subject to Uncertainties

Download or read book Robust Model Predictive Control for Large Scale Manufacturing Systems subject to Uncertainties written by Jens Tonne and published by kassel university press GmbH. This book was released on 2018-01-19 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Large scale manufacturing systems are often run with constant process parameters although continuous and abrupt disturbances influence the process. To reduce quality variations and scrap, a closed-loop control of the process variables becomes indispensable. In this thesis, a modeling and control framework for multistage manufacturing systems is developed, in which the systems are subject to abrupt faults, such as component defects, and continuous disturbances. In this context, three main topics are considered: the development of a modeling framework, the design of robust distributed controllers, and the application of both to the models of a real hot stamping line. The focus of all topics is on the control of the product properties considering the available knowledge of faults and disturbances.
