Book excerpt: "The idea that the 'insane' and the 'mad' may well have the true insights that the 'sane' do not has a long pedigree (especially when the 'sane' represent the ranks of officialdom). Bart Wolffe's novel features an everyman by the name of John Citizen incarcerated in a Harare lunatic asylum sometime in the 1990's. An alien worm by the name of Varg has invaded John's brain. Varg is the repository of secrets far ahead of our time. As he yields them to John, the latter fears for his sanity. The dim-witted and time-serving beaurocratic representatives of officialdom take him to be insane and commit him to an asylum. As time progresses, John's emotional and psychological delirium clears as he comes to understand his condition. The relationship between parasite and host is transformed into a partnership. In an act of pure altruism, the worm literally turns against its own alien masters and facilitates John's relationship with a psychiatric nurse who provides his redemption. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Judith is a senior at St Swithin’s college for girls. Under the supervision of her dominant, charismatic personality, suitable younger students are trained to service the sexual needs of older women in the town. Miss Judith, as she is known, imposes strict standards of dress and behaviour, with severe punishments for infractions, and is dedicated to producing a cadre of sexually skilled submissive girls, catering to a range of lesbian tastes. Miss Judith’s collaborator is Felicity, and together they take in hand a new girl, Hannah. Initially she is naïve and uncertain of her sexuality, but eventually she becomes one of Miss Judith’s star performers, greatly in demand by the clientele. Hannah is especially valued for her willingness to submit to those ladies who require girls of a masochistic temperament, who will submit to spanking and other harsh treatment. To amuse herself, Miss Judith embarks on a project to turn the heterosexual German teacher, Frau Ledermann, in to a lesbian. She imposed on her a series of humiliations and tests of her obedience. Miss Judith has a rival, a lady named Mrs Lockhart, who also trains young girls, mostly from the town, to provide services to older women in the locality. Things come to a head when Mrs Lockhart accuses Miss Judith of poaching her girls. Judith senses that the woman, while appearing as a Domme, has a submissive side, and she is able to humiliate and bend Mrs Lockhart to her will, forcing her to work as her assistant. Gradually Miss Judith involves Hannah more and more in the disciplining and training of the other girls. Eventually, Judith and Felicity offer Hannah the chance to take over the principal role, after she demonstrates her suitability by bringing to heel a particularly recalcitrant girl. Hannah has successfully made the transition from a submissive to a dominant position.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspired by a woman and events forgotten by history, bestselling author Susan Holloway Scott weaves together carefully researched fact and fiction to tell the story of Mary Emmons, and the place she held in the life—and the heart—of the notorious Aaron Burr. He was a hero of the Revolution, a brilliant politician, lawyer, and very nearly president; a skillful survivor in a raw new country filled with constantly shifting loyalties. Today Aaron Burr is remembered more for the fatal duel that killed rival Alexander Hamilton. But long before that single shot destroyed Burr’s political career, there were other dark whispers about him: that he was untrustworthy, a libertine, a man unafraid of claiming whatever he believed should be his. Sold into slavery as a child in India, Mary Emmons was brought to an America torn by war. Toughened by the experiences of her young life, Mary is intelligent, resourceful, and strong. She quickly gains the trust of her new mistress, Theodosia Prevost, and becomes indispensable in a complicated household filled with intrigue—especially when the now-widowed Theodosia marries Colonel Aaron Burr. As Theodosia sickens with the fatal disease that will finally kill her, Mary and Burr are drawn together into a private world of power and passion, and a secret, tangled union that would have shocked the nation . . . Download or read book The Last Druid Standing written by Dr. Larry S. Mellen and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2019-11-13 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Six thousand years ago, in the time before the first megaliths and stone circles, Druids appeared in small numbers throughout Europe. They began an inexplicable migration toward the Western Isles of Scotland. Among these was a Druid prophet, Lazwin. Lazwin predicted the coming of the Beltane child. The child would reunite the rune casters, gather the Druid faithful, and set in motion a series of events that would alter the history of Druid healing magic. Sadly, Lazwin's prophecies were lost to time. In 1820 a Druid child named Finn was playing near the Faerie Pools on Skye. He found a small opening behind a waterfall. Stored within this hollow were the perfectly preserved scrolls containing the prophecies of the elder Lazwin. This is the story of his prophesied Beltane child and his effect on Scottish culture. The pages describe the Beltane child's quest to many of Scotland's sacred sites and his travels around the world, meeting shamans and healers. They share his journey along the eightfold path and his understanding of herbal medicines and essential oils. You will learn of the child's discoveries on a bus trip from Kathmandu to London. In these pages, Dr. Mellen helps you realize there should be some reason for the things that have gone into making you you. If you have ever wondered, "Why am I here?" "Where am I going?" and "How am I going to get there?" Dr. Mellen provides you with a fresh perspective and some rather surprising answers.
