Download or read book Mise en correspondance d images pour l analyse du mouvement et la st r ovision written by Nikom Suvonvorn and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CE MEMOIRE TRAITE D’UNE METHODE DE MISE EN CORRESPONDANCE ENTRE IMAGES, ET DE SES APPLICATIONS.

Download or read book Analyse du mouvement par mise en correspondance d indices visuels written by Christophe Discours and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book LE PROBLEME DE LA CORRESPONDANCE DANS LES SEQUENCES D IMAGES A MOUVEMENT IMPORTANT

Download or read book LE PROBLEME DE LA CORRESPONDANCE DANS LES SEQUENCES D IMAGES A MOUVEMENT IMPORTANT written by Vinciane Lacroix and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LE PROBLEME DE LA CORRESPONDANCE SE POSE FREQUEMMENT EN TRAITEMENT D'IMAGES, QU'IL S'AGISSE DE RECONNAISSANCE DE FORME, D'APPARIEMENT D'IMAGES STEREOSCOPIQUES OU D'ANALYSE DU MOUVEMENT. IL REQUIERT LA REPONSE A LA QUESTION SUIVANTE; QUEL ELEMENT DE CETTE IMAGE-CI CORRESPOND A TEL ELEMENT DE CETTE IMAGE-LA? EN RECONNAISSANCE DE FORME, UNE IMAGE EST LE MODELE, L'AUTRE EST CELLE A ANALYSER. EN STEREO, LES IMAGES REPRESENTENT LES VUES GAUCHE ET DROITE D'UNE SCENE. ENFIN, EN ANALYSE DU MOUVEMENT, LES IMAGES SONT DES INSTANTANES PRIS CONSECUTIVEMENT. DANS CETTE THESE, NOUS PROPOSONS UNE APPROCHE BASEE SUR LA MISE EN CORRESPONDANCE DE CARACTERISTIQUES POUR RESOUDRE LE PROBLEME DANS DES SEQUENCES D'IMAGES QUI PRESENTENT DE GRANDES VARIATIONS RESULTANT D'UN MOUVEMENT IMPORTANT. DEUX ETAPES SONT DES LORS INDISPENSABLES; LA PREMIERE CONSISTE EN L'ELABORATION D'UNE DESCRIPTION D'IMAGE. CELLE-CI DOIT FOURNIR LES ELEMENTS DE BASE A LA MISE EN CORRESPONDANCE. LA DEUXIEME ETAPE NECESSITE LA MISE AU POINT D'UNE STRATEGIE D'APPARIEMENT DE CES ELEMENTS. DANS NOTRE TRAVAIL, UNE ETUDE PSYCHOVISUELLE PRECEDE CES DEUX ETAPES; ON Y CHERCHE LES ELEMENTS ET LES STRATEGIES UTILISES PAR L'ENSEMBLE IL-CERVEAU POUR RESOUDRE CE MEME PROBLEME. NOTRE DESCRIPTION D'IMAGE CONSISTE EN UN GRAPHE OBTENU APRES LES TRAITEMENTS SUIVANTS. D'ABORD, ON EXTRAIT LES CONTOURS RESULTANT DE VARIATIONS D'INTENSITE AU MOYEN D'UNE ANALYSE MULTI-RESOLUTION. CETTE METHODE NON SEULEMENT ENGENDRE DES CONTOURS DE BONNE QUALITE, MAIS DE PLUS FOURNIT DES INDICES SUR LA NATURE DU PHENOMENE PHYSIQUE A L'ORIGINE DU CONTOUR. ENSUITE, LES CONTOURS AINSI OBTENUS SONT FRAGMENTES EN UNE SUCCESSION DE SEGMENTS DROITS ET COURBES. CES SEGMENTS CONSTITUENT LES NUDS DU GRAPHE. LES ARCS, QUANT A EUX, TRADUISENT DES RELATIONS ENTRE SEGMENTS. UNE DES ORIGINALITES DE LA DESCRIPTION RESIDE DANS L'ETABLISSEMENT D'UNE HIERARCHIE DANS CES RELATIONS. AU SOMMET DE LA HIERARCHIE SE TROUVE LA RELATION CONSECUTIF SUR UN MEME CONTOUR, PUIS VIENT EST PROCHE VOISIN ET ENFIN APPARTIENT A UN MEME CONTOUR. LE VOISINAGE D'UN SEGMENT EST AINSI STRUCTURE PAR TROIS ANNEAUX CONCENTRIQUES. DANS LA DEUXIEME ETAPE, ON PROPOSE UNE FONCTION DE COUT QUI EVALUE LA RESSEMBLANCE ENTRE DEUX SEGMENTS, EN DEHORS DE TOUT CONTEXTE. POUR CHAQUE SEGMENT, UNE LISTE DE CANDIDATS POTENTIELS EST OBTENUE SUR BASE DE CE COUT. L'ALGORITHME DE MISE EN CORRESPONDANCE PROCEDE PAR ETAPES. DANS UN PREMIER TEMPS, DES PAIRES SURES, C'EST-A-DIRE NON EQUIVOQUES ET DE FAIBLE COUT, SONT ETABLIES. DANS UN SECOND TEMPS, ON CHERCHE A PROPAGER LES PAIRES A TRAVERS LES PREMIERS ANNEAUX DES VOISINAGES, EN UTILISANT D'UNE PART LA LISTE DES CANDIDATS POTENTIELS ET D'AUTRE PART UN TEST DE COMPATIBILITE ENTRE DEUX PAIRES (I.E., CELLE ETABLIE ET CELLE DONT UN DES ELEMENTS APPARTIENT A L'ANNEAU CONSIDERE). ENSUITE, ON UTILISE LES DEUXIEMES ET ENFIN LES TROISIEMES ANNEAUX POUR CONTINUER LA PROPAGATION A TRAVERS LE GRAPHE. POUR LES SEGMENTS ENCORE NON APPARIES, LA LISTE DES CANDIDATS POTENTIELS EST ETENDUE EN TENANT COMPTE D'HYPOTHESES DE FUSION OU DE FRACTION DE SEGMENT. LA PROCEDURE DE PROPAGATION EST ALORS REITEREE. LA STRATEGIE EST APPLIQUEE AVEC SUCCES A PLUSIEURS SEQUENCES D'IMAGES AINSI QU'A DES PAIRES STEREOSCOPIQUES.

Book Computer Vision Virtual Reality and Robotics in Medicine

Download or read book Computer Vision Virtual Reality and Robotics in Medicine written by Nicholas Ayache and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-04-10 with total page 564 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the written contributions to the program of the First In ternational Conference on Computer Vision, Virtual Reality, and Robotics in Medicine (CVRMed'95) held in Nice during the period April 3-6, 1995. The articles are regrouped into a number of thematic sessions which cover the three major topics of the field: medical image understanding, registration problems in medicine, and therapy planning, simulation and control. The objective of the conference is not only to present the most innovative and promising research work but also to highlight research trends and to foster dialogues and debates among participants. This event was decided after a preliminary successful symposium organized in Stanford in March 1994 by E. Grimson (MIT), T. Kanade (CMU), R. Kikinis and W. Wells (Chair) (both at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital), and myself (INRIA). We received 92 submitted full papers, and each one was evaluated by at least three members of the Program Committee, with the help of auxiliary reviewers. Based on these evaluations, a representative subset of the Program Committee met to select 19 long papers, 29 regular papers, and 27 posters. The geographical repartition of the contributions is the following: 24 from European countries (other than France), 23 contributions from France, 20 from Northern America (USA and Canada), and 8 from Asia (Japan and Singapore).

Book The Counter revolution of Science

Download or read book The Counter revolution of Science written by Friedrich August Hayek and published by Indianapolis : Liberty Press. This book was released on 1979 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Early in the last century the successes of science led a group of French thinkers to apply the principles of science to the study of society. These thinkers purported to have discovered the supposed 'laws' of society and concluded that an elite of social scientists should assume direct control of social life. The Counter-Revolution of Science is Nobel Laureate Friedrich Hayek's forceful attack on this abuse of reason.

Book The Cambridge Handbook of Social Representations

Download or read book The Cambridge Handbook of Social Representations written by Gordon Sammut and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-05-25 with total page 499 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A social representations approach offers an empirical utility for addressing myriad social concerns such as social order, ecological sustainability, national identity, racism, religious communities, the public understanding of science, health and social marketing. The core aspects of social representations theory have been debated over many years and some still remain widely misunderstood. This Handbook provides an overview of these core aspects and brings together theoretical strands and developments in the theory, some of which have become pillars in the social sciences in their own right. Academics and students in the social sciences working with concepts and methods such as social identity, discursive psychology, positioning theory, semiotics, attitudes, risk perception and social values will find this an invaluable resource.

Book The Sounds of Early Cinema

Download or read book The Sounds of Early Cinema written by Richard Abel and published by Indiana University Press. This book was released on 2001-10-03 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sounds of Early Cinema is devoted exclusively to a little-known, yet absolutely crucial phenomenon: the ubiquitous presence of sound in early cinema. "Silent cinema" may rarely have been silent, but the sheer diversity of sound(s) and sound/image relations characterizing the first 20 years of moving picture exhibition can still astonish us. Whether instrumental, vocal, or mechanical, sound ranged from the improvised to the pre-arranged (as in scripts, scores, and cue sheets). The practice of mixing sounds with images differed widely, depending on the venue (the nickelodeon in Chicago versus the summer Chautauqua in rural Iowa, the music hall in London or Paris versus the newest palace cinema in New York City) as well as on the historical moment (a single venue might change radically, and many times, from 1906 to 1910). Contributors include Richard Abel, Rick Altman, Edouard Arnoldy, Mats Björkin, Stephen Bottomore, Marta Braun, Jean Châteauvert, Ian Christie, Richard Crangle, Helen Day-Mayer, John Fullerton, Jane Gaines, André Gaudreault, Tom Gunning, François Jost, Charlie Keil, Jeff Klenotic, Germain Lacasse, Neil Lerner, Patrick Loughney, David Mayer, Domi-nique Nasta, Bernard Perron, Jacques Polet, Lauren Rabinovitz, Isabelle Raynauld, Herbert Reynolds, Gregory A. Waller, and Rashit M. Yangirov.

Book The Rhetoric of Religion

Download or read book The Rhetoric of Religion written by Kenneth Burke and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 1970-04 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "But the point of Burke's work, and the significance of his achievement, is not that he points out that religion and language affect each other, for this has been said before, but that he proceeds to demonstrate how this is so by reference to a specific symbolic context. After a discussion 'On Words and The Word,' he analysess verbal action in St. Augustine's Confessions. He then discusses the first three chapters of Genesis, and ends with a brilliant and profound 'Prologue in Heaven,' an imaginary dialogue between the Lord and Satan in which he proposes that we begin our study of human motives with complex theories of transcendence,' rather than with terminologies developed in the use of simplified laboratory equipment. . . . Burke now feels, after some forty years of search, that he has created a model of the symbolic act which breaks through the rigidities of the 'sacred-secular' dichotomy, and at the same time shows us how we get from secular and sacred realms of action over the bridge of language. . . . Religious systems are systems of action based on communication in society. They are great social dramas which are played out on earth before an ultimate audience, God. But where theology confronts the developed cosmological drama in the 'grand style,' that is, as a fully developed cosmological drama for its religious content, the 'logologer' can be further studied not directly as knowledge but as anecdotes that help reveal for us the quandaries of human governance." --Hugh Dalziel Duncan from Critical Responses to Kenneth Burke, 1924 - 1966, edited by William H. Rueckert (Minneapolis: University of Minnesota Press, 1969).

Book excerpt: Plainchant is the oldest substantial body of music that has been preserved in any shape or form. It was first written down in Western Europe in the eighth to ninth centuries. Many thousands of chants have been sung at different times or places in a multitude of forms and styles, responding to the differing needs of the church through the ages. This book provides a clear and concise introduction, designed both for those to whom the subject is new and those who require a reference work for advanced study. It begins with an explanation of the liturgies that plainchant was designed to serve. It describes all the chief genres of chant, different types of liturgical book, and plainchant notations. After an exposition of early medieval theoretical writing on plainchant, Hiley provides a historical survey that traces the constantly changing nature of the repertory. He also discusses important musicians and centers of composition. Copiously illustrated with over 200 musical examples, this book highlights the diversity of practice and richness of the chant repertory in the Middle Ages. It will be an indispensable introduction and reference source on this important music for many years to come.

Book excerpt: Three decades after his death, Michel Foucault remains one of the towering intellectual figures of the last half-century. His works on sexuality, madness, the prison, and medicine are enduring classics. From 1971 until his death in 1984, Foucault gave public lectures at the famous Collge de France. These seminal events, attended by thousands, created the benchmarks for contemporary social enquiry. The lectures comprising Abnormal begin by examining the role of psychiatry in modern criminal justice, and its method of categorising individuals who "resemble their crime before they commit it." Building on the themes of societal self-defence developed in earlier works, Foucault shows how defining "normality" became a prerogative of power in the nineteenth century, shaping the institutions-from the prisons to the family-meant to deal with "monstrosity," whether sexual, physical, or spiritual. The Collge de France lectures add immeasurably to our appreciation and understanding of Foucault's thought.

  • Pages : 264 pages

Download or read book Year of Sorrows written by W. Gregory Monahan and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Year of Sorrows draws upon an extensive array of archival sources to chronicle the famine crisis of 1709 in Lyon and its surrounding provinces." "Combining a traditional narrative of human struggle and desperate improvisation with contemporary analysis, Monahan takes his readers from the court of Versailles through the cities of Lyon into the hovels of French peasants who resisted the city's demand for their grain. Monahan goes on to analyze the political, social, economic, and demographic impact of the famine on an early modern city and explores the many conflicts created by the crisis between city and monarchy, city and countryside, and among various groups within Lyon. According to Monahan, the famine of 1709 serves as a prism to refract the interactions between royal finances and food shortages, between elites and the powerless, and between competing factions and power centers, and redefines the nature of the "absolute" monarchy of the Sun King." "This dynamic study of human struggle and its political and social dimensions sheds new light on a host of issues and problems in France before the Revolution and on the role that such crises have played in human history."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
