In all kinds of literature, -reafon has laid down a few rules, ilcaprice has multiplied them, and pedantry has forged tackles, which prejudice reveres, and which ta lents dare not break through. To which of the fine arts foever we cafi our eyes, we fee every-where me diocrity dictating laws, and genius meanly fiooping to obey them. It is a {overeign imprifoned by his 'flaves.
