Book Miraculous Mountain Mover

Download or read book Miraculous Mountain Mover written by Chuck Klingman and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2017-12-15 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By definition, a disciple follows. As contemporary Christians today, most of us are sincere about proclaiming that we are disciples of Jesus Christ. Yet, in truth, and by definition, few of us really are. Many of us are genuine about conforming to the Lords character, at least in part, and thats a worthy pursuit. However, for various reasons as explained in this book, very few of us today are personally carrying on with the Lords own miraculous works and ways, as directed. In truth, our own prayers, personal ministries, and methods seldom resemble the timeless prayers, ministry, and methods of Jesus, nor do our results resemble His miraculous results. This powerful book is passionately committed to helping and encouraging every believer to follow Jesus in the miraculous ways of a mountain mover, while explaining just how to do it. So much more than another great book on prayer and discipleship, the Miraculous Mountain Mover is an invitation into the powerful life of active faith that is intended for every believer and follower of Jesus. As Christians, we are the Body of ChristHis hands and feet, His mouthpieceand were called to do His work on the earth in our day. Pastor Chuck has a first-hand experience of this, and it is his contagious passion to help others to do the same. Be forewarned, this book is not for the faint of heart. As you read this book, you will be very encouraged. However, you will also be challenged to step out of the shadows of fear and doubt and into the adventurous life of faith that awaits! Enjoy!! Book Miracle on Voodoo Mountain

Download or read book Miracle on Voodoo Mountain written by Megan Boudreaux and published by HarperChristian + ORM. This book was released on 2015-01-20 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "It took months of God waking me up in the middle of the night before I realized I was the one He was calling to leave my comfortable American life and move to Haiti." Miracle on Voodoo Mountain is the inspirational memoir of an accomplished and driven 24-year old who quit her job, sold everything, and moved to Haiti, by herself—all without a clear plan of action. Megan Boudreaux had visited Haiti on a few humanitarian trips but each trip multiplied the sense that someone needed to address the devastation—especially with the children, many of whom were kept as household slaves on the poverty-stricken and earthquake-devastated Caribbean island. God guided her every step as she moved blindly to a foreign land without knowing the language, the people, or the future. From becoming the adoptive mother of former child slaves, to receiving the divine gift of the Haitian Creole language, to starting, building, and running a school for more than 500 children, "the amazingness of what God did after I made the choice to be obedient is incredible," said Megan. Three years later, six acres on Bellevue Mountain in Gressier is the home of the nonprofit Respire Haiti at the former site of voodoo worship, and in the area that many still come to make animal sacrifices, Megan and her staff of nearly 200 are transforming this community as they educate, feed, and address the needs.

My prayer for you is as you read this book, you'll be encouraged to see the glass as being half full instead of empty; that you will began to obtain happiness by looking at life through the eyes of a child; and that you will keep love, forgiveness, and expect the best first of yourself and appreciate and have compassion on others. Book Book 11 Miracle Working PB

Download or read book Book 11 Miracle Working PB written by Kurt Jurgensmeier and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-08-22 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is God still doing miracles today? Because of the many claims of charismaticism on this issue, a rather detailed biblical study of the matter is warranted. We defend the following conclusions: - Modern "miracle workers" cannot demonstrate the attributes of biblical ones, and are lying when they claim similar gifts. - There are no God-sent miracle workers in Scripture that were not also sources of new, direct, divine revelation to be believed and obeyed as the word of God. - The faith to perform or receive a miracle is just as supernatural and God-given as the miracle itself, and modern "faith healers" are wrong to blame disappointed followers for their lack of such faith. - The Church has universally testified that the gifts of miracle working ceased in the early Church with the completion of the NT. - The fraud in the modern miracle movement has been immense. -Other legitimate explanations for modern "miracles" are intriguing and even alarming.

Book Miracle in the Andes

Download or read book Miracle in the Andes written by Nando Parrado and published by Crown. This book was released on 2007-05-15 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A harrowing, moving memoir of the 1972 plane crash that left its survivors stranded on a glacier in the Andes—and one man’s quest to lead them all home—now in a special edition for 2022, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the crash, featuring a new introduction by the author “In straightforward, staggeringly honest prose, Nando Parrado tells us what it took—and what it actually felt like—to survive high in the Andes for seventy-two days after having been given up for dead.”—Jon Krakauer, author of Into the Wild “In the first hours there was nothing, no fear or sadness, just a black and perfect silence.” Nando Parrado was unconscious for three days before he woke to discover that the plane carrying his rugby team to Chile had crashed deep in the Andes, killing many of his teammates, his mother, and his sister. Stranded with the few remaining survivors on a lifeless glacier and thinking constantly of his father’s grief, Parrado resolved that he could not simply wait to die. So Parrado, an ordinary young man with no particular disposition for leadership or heroism, led an expedition up the treacherous slopes of a snowcapped mountain and across forty-five miles of frozen wilderness in an attempt to save his friends’ lives as well as his own. Decades after the disaster, Parrado tells his story with remarkable candor and depth of feeling. Miracle in the Andes, a first-person account of the crash and its aftermath, is more than a riveting tale of true-life adventure; it is a revealing look at life at the edge of death and a meditation on the limitless redemptive power of love.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Sloop and her husband began their lifelong dedication to the mountain people when they rode horseback into the remote hill region of North Carolina in 1909. The conditions they encountered were shockingly primitive. The people had neither doctors, nor schools and were suspicious of medicine and "larnin’." Electricity and running water were unheard of, roads were rough mountain paths and the diet consisted of "hog meat, greens and grease." The main industry was moon shining. Dr. Sloop declared a personal war on moonshiners, tracking down hidden still with a reluctant sheriff in tow. She fought against child marriages and in a region where girls often married at the age of fourteen. With the help of the mountain people, she reinvigorated the weaving trade, built a church and a modern well equipped hospital. Her spirited support of education resulted in a modern twenty-five-building school. An amazing story of a unique crusade in the hill country of North Carolina.

Book Marco Polo and the Encounter of East and West

Download or read book Marco Polo and the Encounter of East and West written by Suzanne Conklin Akbari and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2008-12-27 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few figures from history evoke such vivid Orientalist associations as Marco Polo, the Venetian merchant, explorer, and writer whose accounts of the "Far East" sparked literary and cultural imaginations. The essays in Marco Polo and the Encounter of East and West challenge what many scholars perceived to be an opposition of "East" and "West" in Polo's writings. These writers argue that Marco Polo's experiences along the Silk Road should instead be considered a fertile interaction of cultural exchange. The volume begins with detailed studies of Marco Polo's narrative in its many medieval forms (including French, Italian, and Latin versions). They place the text in its material and generic contexts, and situate Marco Polo's account within the conventions of travel literature and manuscript illumination. Other essays consider the appropriation of Marco Polo's narrative in adaptations, translation, and cinematic art. The concluding section presents historiographic and poetic accounts of the place of Marco Polo in the context of a global world literature. By considering the production and reception of The Travels, this collection lays the groundwork for new histories of world literature written from the perspective of cultural, economic, and linguistic exchange, rather than conquest and conflict.
