This book was released on 1994 with total page 6 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The British Columbia Forest Service is completing a three-year timber supply review (TSR) to examine the current allowable annual cut (AAC) in all timber supply areas (TSAs) and tree farm licenses (TFLs) in the province. The TSR will assess the effects of current management practices on the timber supply to determine the degree to which the present AAC is sustainable, and to provide information to make any necessary adjustments. In the case of the Mid Coast TSA, the review will also evaluate key factors impacting the timber supply in the TSA that were made when the AAC was reduced in 1992. This discussion paper summarizes the technical reports from the Mid Coast TSA in central B.C. It includes highlights, a description of the area and current management practices, critical factors, and factors important in future planning processes.

Book Mid Coast Timber Supply Area

Download or read book Mid Coast Timber Supply Area written by Larry Pedersen and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mid Coast Timber Supply Area (TSA) covers about 2.2 million hectares on the central coast of British Columbia. About 8.6% of the TSA area is considered to be the long-term timber harvesting land base. After a brief description of the TSA area, this report reviews the principles for determining the allowable annual cut for the area and presents an accounting of the factors and the rationale used in making that determination. These factors include the role of the base-case timber supply forecast, the land base contributing to timber harvesting, the existing forest inventory, the expected rate of forest growth, regeneration delay, areas not satisfactorily restocked, silvicultural systems, decay and wastage, integrated resource management objectives, harvest flow, and forest industry facilities. The appendix contains relevant sections of provincial forestry legislation.
