Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text explores the principles by which microprocessors actually operate, rather than how a specific processor is used. Adopting an inductive approach, it surveys the technology involved with state machine design, and illustrates the concept of micro-programming a state machine by application in a simple computer CPU.

Download or read book Foundations of Microprogramming written by Ashok K. Agrawala and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-06-25 with total page 437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foundations of Microprogramming: Architecture, Software, and Applications discusses the foundations and trends in microprogramming, focusing on the architectural, software, and application aspects of microprogramming. The book reviews microprocessors, microprogramming concepts, and characteristics, as well as the architectural features in microprogrammed computers. The text explains support software and the different hierarchies or levels of languages. These include assembler languages which are mnemonic or symbolic representation of machine commands; the procedure oriented machine-dependent; and the procedure oriented machine independent. A simulator is used to interpret programs written in machine or micro-language before the instructions in the program can be run. A simulator and translator (which change some steps from one program written in another language to another program) should interface with the design language of the computer for these components to operate even when a new machine is developed. The book cites four existing computers which have "simple" diagonal microinstructions such as the Hewlett-Packard HP21MX and the Microdata 3200. Horizontal types of microinstructions allow parallel execution of many micro-operations, such as the Cal Data family of computers, the Varian 73, and the NANODATA QM-1. Microprogramming is applied in emulation, program enhancement, operating systems, signal processing, and graphics. The text can benefit programmers, computer engineers, computer technicians, and computer instructors dealing with many aspects of computers such as programming, hardware interface, networking, engineering or design.

Download or read book The Day After the Night Before written by Harry Katzan Jr. and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2022-10-18 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Back Cover Text This is a novel intended to be read in the traditional manner and also serve aa a predecessor to a screen play. The subject matter is sequenced to represent the scenes as they would appear in historical sequence. However, the novel is written to be read as a conventional book. This novel, as in the previous twelve stories in the series involving Matt and the General, with the assistance of their associates and friends, Matt and the General combine their efforts to solve important problems that involve the safety of the United States, along with problems in the domestic arena. In this instance. the book is set in the beautiful area of middle New Jersey, the United States in general, and in several foreign countries. As in the previous novels, Matt Miller, who has a PhD degree from a prestigious university, and uses mathematical thinking and solid logic, along with the organizational ability of General Les Miller, his grandfather, to solve several major problems, recognized by the President and the Intelligence Director of the United States, as well as two local problems that require the wisdom of the team. The subject matter is supplanted with a historical sequence that described the origin of the General and other team members. In this set of episodes, the action includes a governmental kidnapping, the problems of the military situation with China, the General, and two interesting local situations. Throughout, the activity uses the knowledge of General Mark Clark, the President, and three important women including Ashley, who is Matt’s wife, Anna, who is the General’s wife, and Ann, who is General Clark’s wife. The scene changes rapidly, but always in the scope of no violence, no sex, and no bad language. It is accessible to readers of all ages. The book typifies the conventional “beach” read in that the subject matter can be read as five separate stories. This is the fourteenth book in the Matt and the General series. The characters assume their dynamic personalities as in previous tales. A comment from the author is in order. It was a distinct pleasure to write about Matt, Ashley, Anna, the General, and the Sir Charles Bunday. They are foremost in my imagination. The doctors and medical terminology are just imagined, and anything medical is just made up from reading the Internet. Any reference to doctor’s conventions and procedures are imagined.

Download or read book The Little Book of Managing Uncertainty written by Harry Katzan Jr. and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2022-08-22 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced technology is the cornerstone of modern society. Some of the reasons for studying the methods and applications of technology are that the subject serves as the basis of our everyday existence. We use technology on a daily basis, yet we know very little about the underlying concepts. We have no introduction to the subject matter, no principles of best behavior, and no theories. It is a time for change and this book fills that need. In this book, we are going to take a look at the evolving technology of uncertainty. Getting a handle on uncertainty permits a practitioner to perform in an excellent manner on tasks from management to applied technology. Modern government, such as the intelligence services, is exceedingly complicated, and uncertainty exists in almost every aspect of their daily lives. Business and finance have similar requirements so that participants can excel in all aspects of the decisions of everyday business life. The ability to deal with uncertainty is based on the methods of combining diverse possibilities into a coherent whole called a frame of discernment. Then, using a methodology known as Dempster-Shafer theory, evidence can be evaluated and a basis for decision making can be discerned. The effective use of Dempster-Shafer theory is conceptualized through computer methodology. Once determined to be unsolvable by experts, the methods contained herein have been solved by the author as a visiting professor in Switzerland. The methods are summarized in a research monograph entitled Managing Uncertainty and simplified in this book, along with an appropriate appendix that introduces the methodology. The book is comprised of introductory material followed by appropriate examples in essays that can be read in any order determined by the reader’s interests. The essays are based on peer reviewed journal articles presented at technical conferences. The various essays can be addressed in any order as they are adjusted to fit the needs of practicing professionals. Harry Katzan is a professor, author, and consultant, and enjoys outdoor activities.
