It begins with an introduction to the field of agriculture and application of instrumentation in agriculture, and the book then covers the transducers specific to the agricultural field. The binary number system and arithmetic are covered as the basic building block of digital circuits and computer organization. The microprocessor basics and Intel 8085 hardware and software have been discussed in detail. The book describes microprocessor peripheral inter-facing and its support chips such as Intel 8225, Intel 8253 and Intel 8279 along with their applications. It discusses analog to digital and digital to analog interface, CRT terminal interface and printer interface. In addition, the book includes case studies on various microprocessor applications in agriculture, such as microprocessor-based system design for grain moisture, safe grain storage, soil nutrient estimation and drip irrigation. Finally, the book ends with an advanced and futuristic topic on precision agriculture to give an exposure to students about future developments in the agricultural system. Key Features : • From concepts to design, the book follows a step-by-step approach. • Gives a large number of figures for easy understanding of theory. • Includes a good number of examples and end-of-chapter exercises both in the hardware and software sections. • Presents a number of case studies on the design of microprocessor-based agri-instrumentation systems. • Offers exercises on the case studies which can be used for further development of the concepts. The book is primarily intended for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of agricultural engineering for their courses on agri instrumen-tation and microprocessor applications in agriculture.

This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 875 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the students with a solid foundation in the technology of microprocessors and microcontrollers, their principles and applications. It comprehensively presents the material necessary for understanding the internal architecture as well as system design aspects of Intel’s legendary 8085 and 8086 microprocessors and Intel’s 8051 and 8096 microcontrollers. The book throughout maintains an appropriate balance between the basic concepts and the skill sets needed for system design. Besides, the book lucidly explains the hardware architecture, the instruction set and programming, support chips, peripheral interfacing, and cites several relevant examples to help the readers develop a complete understanding of industrial application projects. Several system design case studies are included to reinforce the concepts discussed. With exhaustive coverage and practical approach, the book would be indispensable to undergraduate students of Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, and Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. It can be used for a variety of courses in Microprocessors, Microcontrollers, and Embedded System Design. The second edition of the book introduces additional topics like I/O interfacing and programming, serial interface programming, delay programming using 8086 and 8051. Besides, many more examples and case studies have been added.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The photosynthetic process of higher plants converts carbon dioxide, water, and, light quanta into reduced sugars. The enzymes which catalyze this conversion are contained within the chloroplasts and can be thought of as split into two distinct groups. In one group are the enzymes of the IIlightll reactions, which harvest the light, oxidize water and generate two energy-rich intermediates, ATP and NADPH. These two intermediates plus carbon dioxide are the substrates for the second group, the IIdarkll reactions or Cal vi n cycle, which produce the reduced sugars. The chloroplast is completely bounded by an outer membrane. There is a separate, highly convoluted membrane system, the thyla koid system, enclosed within the chloroplast. The enzymes of the light reactions are physically associated with the thylakoid mem branes, while the Calvin cycle enzymes are free-floating within the stroma, or soluble part of the chloroplast (Fig. 1). Download or read book Tractors and their Power Units written by D. Smith and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the time of the writing of the fourth edirion of this textbook, the agricultural economy in the United States and Canada was depressed. The prices paid to farmers for their grain crops were very low, and consequently most farmers in North America could not afford to buy a new tractor when needed; there fore, the sales of tractors and other farm machines were much below normal. The farmer who was the victim of the depressed economy was forced to "make do." Instead of purchasing a new tractor when the old one needed to be replaced, the farmer usually purchased a used or second-hand tractor or repaired the old one. In a strict sense, tractors usually do not wear out; instead, they become obsolete. The farmer who owns an obsolete tractor would prefer to replace it with one having more power, more speeds, more conveniences, a better hydraulic system, lower operating cost, or all of the above. But farmers in the United States, Canada, and other industrial nations will continue to want to purchase tractors that have all of the features, in cluding microprocessors, found on other vehicles.
