Book Monsters Of Medicine

Download or read book Monsters Of Medicine written by William W. Colliflower, M.D. and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2013-11-08 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Medical training gave them the skills . . . Unfortunately evidence suggests that the medical profession is responsible for more serial killers then all other professions combined. Why is this so? Monsters of medicine chronicles the lives of five serial killer physicians in an effort to find a common thread in their lives. The author believes there is evidence to support that these doctors were all pathologic narcissists. Childhood abuse was present in all their lives. Medical training gave them the skills and opportunities for their murderous and torturous conduct. We are all patients and it is appalling to find institutions and monitoring bodies place reputation and potential liability above weeding out misconduct, incompetence, and our welfare. The fact that two of these killers were actively practicing medicine into the waning days of the 20th century should alert us that this subject is much more than just of historical interest. Key questions of cause, prevention, detection, and treatment are explored. Absolute answers are difficult to expose, but one thing remains almost certain. There is likely another serial killer physician practicing medicine at this time somewhere in the world.

Book Egypt as a Monster in the Book of Ezekiel

Download or read book Egypt as a Monster in the Book of Ezekiel written by Safwat Marzouk and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2015-06-05 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Appealing to Monster Theory and the ancient Near Eastern motif of "Chaoskampf," Safwat Marzouk argues that the paradoxical character of the category of the monster is what prompts the portrayal of Egypt as a monster in the book of Ezekiel. While on the surface the monster seems to embody utter difference, underlying its otherness there is a disturbing sameness. Though the monster may be defeated and its body dismembered, it is never completely annihilated. Egypt is portrayed as a monster in the book of Ezekiel because Egypt represents the threat of religious assimilation. Although initially the monstrosity of Egypt is constructed because of the shared elements of identity between Egypt and Israel, the prophet flips this imagery of monster in order to embody Egypt as a monstrous Other. In a combat myth, YHWH defeats the monster and dismembers its body. Despite its near annihilation, Egypt, in Ezekiel's rhetoric, is not entirely obliterated. Rather, it is kept at bay, hovering at the periphery, questioning Israel's identity.

Praks. Join Quinn, her husband Aldric, and the people of Norsewood in an impoverished, war-torn, medieval-like world of magic and monsters as they continue to save lives, feed the populace delectable food, and build a kingdom in the process! Having saved the refugees from the mining dungeon and inviting them into Norsewood, Quinn and her hunky warrior husband Aldric now concentrate on the rebuilding of their community and land. Naturally, with Quinn, no projects she touches are ever considered modest. Just as things are going smoothly, with Christmas celebrations and Quinn and Aldric revealing their love for one another, the elf and dwarf refugees plead for aid to save their famishing nations. Now, Quinn, Aldric, and the people of Norsewood not only have to come up with a method to feed hundreds of thousands of starving elves and dwarves, but protect their land and people from an unanticipated attack, too. My Lady Builds a Village is the third book in Apparently, I’m the Infamous Earl’s Legendary Bride Series. It is a romantic fantasy series featuring a vivacious heroine with a determination to change and improve the lives of civilians in a medieval-like, war-torn world with the use of her modern knowledge and her magic and a hunky hero hell-bent on protecting his land and people and claiming his wife’s love. This series contains romance, magic, kingdom building, and food and cooking. Oh, and enough steam to fog up the other world’s medieval-era glass window in this book, and later, as the story progresses. Note: A kingdom-building fantasy series involves the protagonist/s working on building and managing their own village, town, city, nation, or even empire and gathering citizens and subordinates.
