Book excerpt: My name is Mia Giannis. I am seventeen years old. I live in Valese, Caberra. This has become my mantra and my lifeline, having recently lost my memory due to a scary natural disaster. Not remembering anything has turned my world upside down. And then there's my love life. Apparently, Gavin Ariastasis is my oldest and best friend in the world. Also, apparently, we've never dated. But now, noticing him for what feels like the first time, he's making my heart do somersaults. But then ... there's the new guy. Quinn McKeyen - tall, gorgeous and deliciously American. His mischievous grin and slow Midwestern drawl turn my insides to mush in two seconds flat making me question who I really am and what I really want. I just hope my indecisive heart will clue me in. And sooner rather than later ... before I lose what little of my mind that I have left.

The USA Today bestselling author of The Worst Best Man is back with a hilarious rom-com about two strangers who get trapped in a lie and have to fake date their way out of it... Just weeks away from ditching DC for greener pastures, Solange Pereira is roped into helping her wedding planner cousin on a random couple’s big day. It’s an easy gig... until Solange stumbles upon a situation that convinces her the pair isn’t meant to be. What’s a true-blue romantic to do? Crash the wedding, of course. And ensure the unsuspecting groom doesn’t make the biggest mistake of his life. Dean Chapman had his future all mapped out. He was about to check off “start a family” and on track to “make partner” when his modern day marriage of convenience went up in smoke. Then he learns he might not land an assignment that could be his ticket to a promotion unless he has a significant other and, in a moment of panic, Dean claims to be in love with the woman who crashed his wedding. Oops. Now Dean has a whole new item on his to-do list: beg Solange to be his pretend girlfriend. Solange feels a tiny bit bad about ruining Dean’s wedding, so she agrees to play along. Yet as they fake-date their way around town, what started as a performance for Dean’s colleagues turns into a connection that neither he nor Solange can deny. Their entire romance is a sham... there’s no way these polar opposites could fall in love for real, right? "Mia Sosa... is genuinely a master of the modern romance novel." — Cosmopolitan

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this “thought-provoking blend of history, biography, women’s studies, and travelogue” (Library Journal) Mia Kankimäki recounts her enchanting travels in Japan, Kenya, and Italy while retracing the steps of ten remarkable female pioneers from history. What can a forty-something childless woman do? Bored with her life and feeling stuck, Mia Kankimäki leaves her job, sells her apartment, and decides to travel the world, following the paths of the female explorers and artists from history who have long inspired her. She flies to Tanzania and then to Kenya to see where Karen Blixen—of Out of Africa fame—lived in the 1920s. In Japan, Mia attempts to cure her depression while researching Yayoi Kusama, the contemporary artist who has voluntarily lived in a psychiatric hospital for decades. In Italy, Mia spends her days looking for the works of forgotten Renaissance women painters of the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and finally finds her heroines in the portraits of Sofonisba Anguissola, Lavinia Fontana, and Atremisia Gentileschi. If these women could make it in the world hundreds of years ago, why can’t Mia? The Women I Think About at Night is “an astute, entertaining…[and] insightful” (Publishers Weekly) exploration of the lost women adventurers of history who defied expectations in order to see—and change—the world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the broad field of oncology is a relatively small but important area of cardiac oncology. The scope of cardiac oncology will increase as we con tinue to develop expertise in the detection and management of cardiac prob we intensify efforts to improve survival in patients who at an lems and as earlier time might have succumbed to advanced disease and a fragile cardio vascular system. With our aging population and the developing complexity of treatment modalities, we now recognize that the cardiovascular system is a target of the adverse effects of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and cancer itself. The goal of this book is to present the scope of modern cardiac oncology as a growing discipline with sophisticated diagnostic testing and treatment modalities. The views of different specialists from different subspecialities are integrated to provide a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis, man agement, and complications of cancer of the heart and related conditions. The rapidly growing interest in cardiac oncology has largely been advanced through the ready availability of two-dimensional echocardiography, nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, angiocardiography, and other imaging tech niques. This book is divided into four parts. The first appraises cardiac tumors in detail and describes the distribution, pathology, noninvasive and invasive methods for testing, diagnosis, and treatment. The surgical approach to cardiac tumors has been included. It is a major advance that was essentially nonexistent a decade or so ago. Novel surgical approaches have now been successful in many instances.
