This book was released on 2021-09-01 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an introduction to the study of ordinary differential equations and partial differential equations, ranging from elementary techniques to advanced tools. The presentation focusses on initial value problems, boundary value problems, equations with delayed argument and analysis of periodic solutions: main goals are the analysis of diffusion equation, wave equation, Laplace equation and signals. The study of relevant examples of differential models highlights the notion of well-posed problem. An expanded tutorial chapter collects the topics from basic undergraduate calculus that are used in subsequent chapters. A wide exposition concerning classical methods for solving problems related to differential equations is available: mainly separation of variables and Fourier series, with basic worked exercises. A whole chapter deals with the analytic functions of complex variable. An introduction to function spaces, distributions and basic notions of functional analysis is present. Several chapters are devoted to Fourier and Laplace transforms methods to solve boundary value problems and initial value problems for differential equations. Tools for the analysis appear gradually: first in function spaces, then in the more general framework of distributions, where a powerful arsenal of techniques allows dealing with impulsive signals and singularities in both data and solutions of differential problems. This Second Edition contains additional exercises and a new chapter concerning signals and filters analysis in connection to integral transforms.
Download or read book Analytic functions Integral transforms Differential Equations written by F. Gazzola and published by Società Editrice Esculapio. This book was released on 2020-07-01 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Differential equations play a relevant role in many disciplines and provide powerful tools for analysis and modeling in applied sciences. The book contains several classical and modern methods for the study of ordinary and partial differential equations. A broad space is reserved to Fourier and Laplace transforms together with their applications to the solution of boundary value and/or initial value problems for differential equations. Basic prerequisites concerning analytic functions of complex variable and Lp spaces are synthetically presented in the first two chapters. Techniques based on integral transforms and Fourier series are presented in specific chapters, first in the easier framework of integrable functions and later in the general framework of distributions. The less elementary distributional context allows to deal also with differential equations with highly irregular data and pulse signals. The theory is introduced concisely, while learning of miscellaneous methods is achieved step-by-step through the proposal of many exercises of increasing difficulty. Additional recap exercises are collected in dedicated sections. Several tables for easy reference of main formulas are available at the end of the book. The presentation is oriented mainly to students of Schools in Engineering, Sciences and Economy. The partition of various topics in several self-contained and independent sections allows an easy splitting in at least two didactic modules: one at undergraduate level, the other at graduate level.

Download or read book On Fuzziness written by Rudolf Seising and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-01-12 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notion of Fuzziness stands as one of the really new concepts that have recently enriched the world of Science. Science grows not only through technical and formal advances on one side and useful applications on the other side, but also as consequence of the introduction and assimilation of new concepts in its corpus. These, in turn, produce new developments and applications. And this is what Fuzziness, one of the few new concepts arisen in the XX Century, has been doing so far. This book aims at paying homage to Professor Lotfi A. Zadeh, the “father of fuzzy logic” and also at giving credit to his exceptional work and personality. In a way, this is reflected in the variety of contributions collected in the book. In some of them the authors chose to speak of personal meetings with Lotfi; in others, they discussed how certain papers of Zadeh were able to open for them a new research horizon. Some contributions documented results obtained from the author/s after taking inspiration from a particular idea of Zadeh, thus implicitly acknowledging him. Finally, there are contributions of several “third generation fuzzysists or softies” who were firstly led into the world of Fuzziness by a disciple of Lotfi Zadeh, who, following his example, took care of opening for them a new road in science. Rudolf Seising is Adjoint Researcher at the European Centre for Soft Computing in Mieres, Asturias (Spain). Enric Trillas and Claudio Moraga are Emeritus Researchers at the European Centre for Soft Computing, Mieres, Asturias (Spain). Settimo Termini is Professor of Theoretical Computer Science at the University of Palermo, Italy and Affiliated Researcher at the European Centre for Soft Computing, Mieres, Asturias (Spain)

Download or read book Applied semigroups in locally convex spaces written by Aldo Belleni-Morante and published by Altralinea Edizioni . This book was released on 2018-10-30 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aldo Belleni-Morante started to write this book in February 2008 giving two provisional titles: Semigroups and Evaluation Equations in Locally Convex Spaces: An Introduction or Applied Semigroups in Locally Convex Spaces and, he seemed on hurry for finishing it. He decided to share his scientific viewpoint with the Scottish colleagues Prof. Adam C. McBride (AMB) and Dr Wilson Lamb (WL) from the Strathclyde University. He fully desired this collaboration as a consequence of some previous scientific works undertaken since 2006 at the Strathclyde University along his appointment as Permanent Visiting Professor. He also considered the very early conception of this book since 2005 when he spent his latest sabbatical year in Glasgow and further in 2007 when Adam McBride came to Florence to work on this. But not much work was done at that time. To this end, Aldo started happily on his own research work to write the book and he completed his first part in 2008. Unfortunately, the first health problems arisen and this book stayed unfinished.
