Book Postmissionary Messianic Judaism

Download or read book Postmissionary Messianic Judaism written by Mark S. Kinzer and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2005-11-01 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, a new form of Messianic Judaism has emerged that has the potential to serve as a bridge between Jews and Christians. Giving voice to this movement, Mark Kinzer makes a case for nonsupersessionist Christianity. He argues that the election of Israel is irrevocable, that Messianic Jews should honor the covenantal obligations of Israel, and that rabbinic Judaism should be viewed as a movement employed by God to preserve the distinctive calling of the Jewish people. Though this book will be of interest to Jewish readers, it is written primarily for Christians who recognize the need for a constructive relationship to the Jewish people that neither denies the role of Jesus the Messiah nor diminishes the importance of God's covenant with the Jews.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God grabbed hold of a Presbyterian pastor to take him to the religion of Messianic Jews. What follows is a mystery story that reveals answers to the dilemmas in a problematic faith. In traditional rabbinic Judaism it is blasphemy and in church doctrine it is heresy. But as a third biblical religion with its own soteriology it is neither false nor mistaken. Untying the knot of contradictions in Messianic Judaism sheds light on the eminence of Judaism and the chauvinism of Christianity. It turns familiar assumptions upside down with a monotheistic hermeneutic for reading the New Testament and an inclusive soteriology unfolding the revelation of God's new idea. It is new wine that invites believers to a deeper devotion through reexamination of fundamental truths. The majority of Messianic congregations share many of the beliefs and teachings of evangelical Protestantism, a choice that has not achieved the goals of the Messianic movement—because the contradiction in the evangelical assumption is real. Explore the alternative truths of radical monotheism through the eyes of a gentile convert from the church who learned to read the Bible with new eyes and met Yeshua (Jesus) again for the first time.

Book Torahism

    Book Details:
  • Author : R. L. Solberg
  • Publisher : Williamson College Press
  • Release : 2019-10-22
  • ISBN : 9781733672115
  • Pages : 198 pages

Download or read book Torahism written by R. L. Solberg and published by Williamson College Press. This book was released on 2019-10-22 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: www.TorahismBook.com - Are Christians required to keep the Law of Moses? How about the Ten Commandments? Was Jesus divine? Join R. L. Solberg in his new book, TORAHISM, where he confronts a modern heresy and dives into these and other critical questions related to the Jewish roots of the Christian faith. "It all began with a series of Facebook posts that an old friend posted just after Thanksgiving. He was aggressively taking Christians to task for celebrating the 'pagan' holiday of Christmas. This struck me as odd because I'd always known he and his wife to be strong Christians. And while I've debated with plenty of atheists over the alleged pagan roots of Christmas, I'd never heard this charge leveled by a fellow Christian. So I decided to chime in on his posts and soon discovered that I had stepped into a mystery of, well, biblical proportions..." ENDORSEMENTS: "Over a decade ago, I came to know Rob Solberg. He impressed me back then with his searching heart, scholarly mind, and passion for apologetics. He has now offered a masterful work, well researched and very well-argued. Were I still a seminary professor, I would require my students to write reviews on this volume." Dr. Stephen Drake, Former Professor of Ministry at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary "Impressively written and researched! Aberrant theologies have existed throughout time, requiring trusted biblical guides to bring much-needed reproof. Rob Solberg does this superbly in his book, Torahism. And, he accomplishes this task with much 'gentleness and respect' (1 Peter 3:15). Even if you are not immediately confronted with this heresy, a careful reading of Rob's book will deepen your understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ." Ed Smith, Ph.D., President, Williamson College "Engaging and well-developed content on a tough topic. Rob addresses lofty theological issues with incredible accessibility and application. He reminds us to not just stay in our heads and win arguments but to love people well as we fight for what is true." Derek Bareman, Lead Pastor, Church of the City Spring Hill "This is an excellent, balanced, scholarly refutation of the heretical teaching of Torahism. Solberg does so with a wide array of Scripture, great Christian writers across the centuries, and impeccable logic. Not only does it address and answer the challenge of this new heresy, it serves as an apologetic in the best tradition of Christian scholarship. Exceptional work. I have reviewed thousands of books in 30 years. This book deserves to be read!" Reverend David "Doc" Kirby (retired), Host of the On The Bookshelf podcast FROM THE FORWARD BY PAUL WILKINSON, Ph.D. - "The best conversations are those that happen spontaneously amongst sincere, passionate seekers wanting to learn, mature, and progress in their faith and life. R. L. Solberg has blessed us by inviting us into just such a conversation . . . This book is a read that flows because it originates in genuine conversations between friends and passionate believers. It is reminiscent of the ancient dialogues with questions, points, and counterpoints. But be sure to catch this truth: Solberg's work is not about how to do the least work for the most grace, nor is it about how to avoid obligations, duties, and work. No, much more than that, Solberg's question is about how we who claim to be children of God best glorify, worship, and obey him . . . Solberg wants to know what it means to be "godly" and "righteous" in light of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. I invite you into Rob and his friends' conversation. I was challenged, encouraged, and taught by the insights he brings to the fore. I pray that you heed his call to take seriously what it means for the Christian to live the godly life; to be like Jesus."

Book Messianic Torah with Commentary Plus

Download or read book Messianic Torah with Commentary Plus written by Gary Gardner and published by . This book was released on 2017-07-27 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Messianic Torah with Commentary...Plus! (MTC+), is a Chumash with each parasha marked, and a hyperlink to the Haftorah which is located in the end notes. The Plus is the addition of the book of Matthew. The MTC+ includes links to passages in the NT and TaNaK, and was compiled with the follower of Yeshua in mind. All Hebrew words used in the notes have definitions and transliterations. The MTC+ is not made to be a reference but more of an "everyday reader". In the MTC+ we have tried to explore the Jewish culture and world in which the words were written to help the student understand and apply them to modern life. The text of the MTC+ is taken from a modified public domain American Standard version. The new edition of the MTC+ includes several new features. The first and most obvious is the addition of the book of Matthew from the 1st century CE Jewish book, the New Testament (NT) also known as the Apostolic Scriptures. Matthew is added after the book of Deuteronomy. The comments in Matthew are a little more devotional in nature than those in the Torah but stay with the Messianic/Hebrew cultural view that is being emphasized in this work.To access the haftorah go to the blue link that gives the scripture reference for that parashah's haftorah. Then click on the number to the right of the reference. This will take you to the end notes where the haftorah is given in blue. To return to the text simply click the number again from the end notes and it will take you back to the text of that parashah. The Haftorah sections in the MTC+ reflect several different Jewish traditions. When we were looking for Haftorot to place in the text we did not use all Azkenazi or Sefardi. Most of the time we used one of those two prominent groups, but we also looked at the Yemeni and Romani traditions. The Yemeni is the oldest Jewish community, and the Romani reflect the eastern Jewish traditions for which our early Fathers in the faith were probably associated. We tended to go with the Haftorah reading that we felt spoke to Messianics the best. The next new feature has to do with the notes themselves. As in the old edition, to see the notes the reader can simply scroll to the end of each page and read what is written, then back up to the text. The new option is that if you click on the number for the note it will take you to an endnote copy of the note. The endnote copy will show all the notes for the whole MTC+ without the Biblical texts. This allows the student to skip to the commentary alone if so desired. That way a search can be done to look for things such as Hebrew words and other points of interest. When a comment looks interesting click that number and it will take you to the text that the comment references. Click the number a second time and you are back in the comments to continue your search. The third new feature involves 100s of hyperlinks within the text. In places such as Lev. 23 where the Feasts and Festivals are listed there are blue links to other places in the Torah where the same Festivals are discussed. Click on the link and it will take you to the other reference. Click again and you are back where you started. Finally, we have corrected as many of the spelling, typing, and grammatical errors as we could in this edition of the MTC+. We have also added some new comments and re-written comments that we thought were unclear. Hebrew fonts have been typed in a bold font to make them more obvious.IF YOU HAVE THE ORIGINAL version of the MTC and would like to get the updated MTC+ you can do so for FREE. The way that you can get the new version for free is to make a phone call. This will take a minute or two but has the benefit of being free. Call 1-866-216-1072 and have the ASIN B00OYENR9Y of the MTC ready. (The second and third digits are the number 0. The fourth digit is the capital letter O.) We are told the digital team at Kindle will update everything for free.
