It was the expectation that these would be followed by a more extended biography, for which ample material existed in the letters and papers left by Mr. Lawrence. This work was postponed for various reasons, and in 1872 the larger part of the papers and correspondence which had been depended upon for the purpose was destroyed in the great Boston fire.
