Download or read book New Concepts on Abdominoplasty and Further Applications written by Juarez M. Avelar and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-24 with total page 600 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book documents the important advances that have been achieved in abdominoplasty over the past 15 years, in particular through the introduction of a nontraumatic approach associated with minimal morbidity owing to the avoidance of resection of abdominal panniculus and damage to the perforating vessels. The surgical principles of this procedure, including in combination with liposuction, are fully described by its developer, Juarez Avelar, with the aid of a wealth of color illustrations. A miniabdominoplasty option is also discussed and recent significant technical contributions such as various new plication techniques and means of minimizing complications are clearly presented. In addition, a series of chapters explain how the surgical principles underlying the described nontraumatic method of abdominoplasty can now be applied to other areas of the body, for example to improve rhytidoplasty, ear reconstruction, body contouring, and medial thigh lifting. This book enables the plastic surgeon to apply the latest abdominoplasty techniques effectively and safely.

Download or read book Building Capabilities for Productive Development written by Jorge Cornick and published by Inter-American Development Bank. This book was released on 2018-06-29 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Productive development policies (PDPs) are notoriously hard. They involve a daunting level of technical detail, require public-private collaboration, are in constant danger of capture, and demand time consistency hard to achieve in a politically volatile region. Nevertheless, the potential of PDPs to revitalize the regionâs economic performance and spur productivity growth cannot be ignored. This book takes an in-depth look at 17 cases involving productive development agencies from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica and Uruguay, identifying key features of institutional design and agency-level practices that make success more likely in this difficult policy arena. Careful study of these experiences might help successful productive development policies gain currency across the region. The cases in this book should not be seen as the exceptions that prove the rule of lackluster PDP performance, but rather as examples that demonstrate the rule can be broken.

Download or read book The Unedited Diaries of Carolina Maria de Jesus written by Carolina Maria de Jesus and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Carolina Maria de Jesus' book, Quarto de Despejo (The Trash Room), depicted the harsh life of the slums, but it also spoke of the author's pride in her blackness, her high moral standards, and her patriotism. More than a million copies of her diary are believed to have been sold worldwide. Yet many Brazilians refused to believe that someone like de Jesus could have written such a diary, with its complicated words (some of them misused) and often lyrical phrasing as she discussed world events. Doubters prefer to believe the book was either written by Audáulio Dantas, the enterprising newspaper reporter who discovered her, or that Dantas rewrote it so substantially that her book is a fraud. With the cooperation of de Jesus' daughter, recent research shows that although Dantas deleted considerable portions of the diary (as well as a second one), every word was de Jesus'. But Dantas did "create" a different Carolina from the woman who coped with her harsh life by putting things down on paper. This book sets the record straight by providing detailed translations of de Jesus' unedited diaries and explains why Brazilian elites were motivated to obscure her true personality and present her as something she was not. It is not only about the writer but about Brazil as recorded by her sarcastic pen. The diary entries in this book span from 1958 to 1966, five years beyond text previously known to exist. They show de Jesus as she was, preserving her Joycean stream-of-consciousness language and her pithy characterizations.
