Download or read book If You Ever Meet A Weasel written by Belinda MacGruder and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-08 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1800s, the lives of persons in the entertaining industry, specifically theater, were often as dramatic as the characters' lives in some plays by Samuel Beckett, Anton Chekhov, Henrik Ibsen, William Inge, Arthur Miller, Thornton Wilder and Tennessee Williams. If You Ever Meet a Weasel by Belinda MacGruder is one such dramatic story. Historical fiction, this novel details the lives of theatre people who travel from Europe to the New World. This novel's main character must tolerate her father's traditional attitudes toward marriage. She must accept the separation from her European friends when she moves to the New World. Of course, New World customs are different from European customs. As such, this novel's female, main character must learn New World customs while retaining the Old World ones. Natural and manmade tragedies afflict most, if not all, of the characters in If You Ever Meet a Weasel. Highly unusual events occur. Personality conflicts vie with conflicts of interests. A famous American war disrupts the lives of some of the characters. Travel to and from the European continent stresses relationships and relatives. However, this novel contains more than tragedies, conflicts and turmoil. Tender moments occur between spouses. Understanding develops among friends. Between employers and employees, friendships emerge to last lifetimes. In dialogs and expositions, the author references historical dates and events. For the readers, these historical events emphasize characters' personalities, create empathy, explain difficulties and inspire imagination. This novel's timeline ends in the 21st century. From beginning to end, readers will read about various transportation methods: horse-drawn carriages; steam-powered, ocean liners; taxis and train travel. If You Ever Meet a Weasel is an insightful, but fictional, literary experience into theatrical lives.

Alongside Mr Saluzar, the head of a global charity foundation, and Nick, The Fallen Angel, they hurtle towards Armageddon and their one chance to prove God wrong. They have seven days to save us. Praise for On The Seventh Day: “I don't know any other writer with the diversity of Mr Wilson when it comes to putting his stories on paper, the only guarantee is they're Scottish. “ – Amazon reader. “A strange mix of book. It made me howl with laughter in places, and in others made me consider my place in the universe, sometimes immediately after each other. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it. A very funny, and very clever book. “ – Mark Tilbury – author of The Abattoir of Dreams. “Wilson seems to be revelling in his native North Lanarkshire's new confidence and swagger. Although he has never shied away from writing in his native tongue, this book flows beautifully, despite the subject matter.” – Des McAnulty, author of Life is Local. “In American Gods Neil Gaiman humanized the Gods wonderfully. In this book Mark Wilson humanizes God and the supernaturals terribly, awe-fully and disgustingly! And it is brilliant! “ – Colette Brown, author of The Prescription.

She has returned home after her grandparents’ death to accept a new family role that she does not want. Unfortunately, that role requires her to have to deal with her father or risk the loss of a program that sick children depend upon. Jay DiAngelo is the contractor hired to work on the home Coal Davis has inherited. With her dark hair and honey eyes, being a contractor isn’t her only skill. She lives from paycheck to paycheck trying to pay off a debt that could cost her a home that is very special to her. Working in the town of Woodside is a risk, since a relative has tarnished her family name. But pride is everything to Jay, and since she’d never ask for a handout, she’d rather take the risk and chance going hungry than beg for help. Both have a lot to lose. A relationship would be risky, but if they can overcome the obstacles keeping them apart, they could build something priceless.

Authorities suspected foul play . . . As the search for Jay made local headlines, Marjorie’s story starting coming apart. Why did she wait so long before going to police? If Jay was away on business, why were there charges made to his credit card in Phoenix? Then, the unthinkable happened. The investigation revealed surprising details about her life—six previous marriages, an ongoing affair with a man from her gym, and alleged ties to the New York mafia.

Book excerpt: The archaeologist and Bronze Age metal specialist Dr Jay J. Butler (1921-2014) was a kind, warmhearted man, averse to hype and ostentation, who was happy to share his knowledge in non-academic language both with professionals and interested amateurs. But woe betide anyone who might use the evidence to draw unwarranted conclusions… A cosmopolitan American, he demonstrated that people in the Bronze Age maintained contacts that reached well beyond today’s national frontiers. In practicals with his students he acquainted them with, for instance, the difficulties of bronze casting: prehistoric artisans were far more sophisticated than previously thought. He started taking samples for metal analyses, initiated international collaborative projects, and widened his students’ horizons by taking them on trips abroad to visit excavations and museums. His eventful life was linked to many themes: immigration that is welcome only inasfar as it is lucrative, racism, exploitation of the poor, religious fundamentalism, a devastating world war, information being doctored or suppressed, lack of humanity and neglect of common courtesy. With Jay Butler’s demise, the world lost an enthusiastic, authoritative and accessible archaeologist.
