Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 2013 Article IV Consultation highlights Sweden’s economic growth and policies. Sweden’s economy appears to be slowing together with its main Nordic and European trading partners. The IMF report discusses that there is a scope to improve the fiscal framework, by ensuring it remains sufficiently countercyclical. Given the importance of Swedish banks for the region, improving financial stability in Sweden would also contribute to financial stability across the Nordics, as would additional progress toward cross-border burden-sharing agreements. Structural reforms are also expected to add to resilience and growth.

Book Public Financial Management in the European Union

Download or read book Public Financial Management in the European Union written by Marta Postuła and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-04-19 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reveals how to create efficient institutions and coordinate policy on a transnational scale to ensure that European Union integration can best meet social needs. It offers a combined technocratic and humanist perspective on the discussion of public financial management. The state, as part of its public policy, should seek to preserve our social and environmental values, yet there are mounting imbalances in society which point to the growing role of the state in minimising them. Under such circumstances, it is worth reflecting on how new challenges could require updated, more complex formulas, to deal with crises in current times and for social and economic policy making by states and the European Union generally, which would ensure their compatibility with the world financial markets. The work offers an in-depth and unique performance analysis of European Union institutions compared to the national entities of EU Member States. It contributes to the ongoing debate on global public goods and the processes involved in managing their provision. Further, it discusses public finance management instruments, indicating their historical evolution in practice and their effectiveness measured with the Human Development Index. The author presents a proposal of how to manage global, European and national public goods across three areas: environmental protection, transnational infrastructure projects and social policy. The book analyses public financial management instruments used during the recent pandemic, making a distinction between regular and emergency instruments and assessing their effectiveness in specific economic situations. This will be of interest to researchers and students of economics and finance, as well as decision makers and practitioners from governments, international organisations and specific non-governmental organisations concerned with issues of public finance management.

Book World Economic Outlook April 2010

Download or read book World Economic Outlook April 2010 written by International Monetary Fund. Research Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2010-04-21 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The global economic recovery is progressing better than expected, but the speed of recovery varies, as outlined in the April 2010 World Economic Outlook. Some countries, notably in Asia, are off to a strong start, but growth in others is constrained by lasting damage to the financial sector and to household balance sheets. The challenge for policymakers is to ensure a smooth transition of demand, while maintaining supports that promote growth and employment. There is also a need to contain and reduce public debt and repair and reform the financial sector. This issue of the WEO also explores two other key challenges in the wake of the Great Recession: how to spur job creation in the face of likely high and persistent unemployment in advanced economies, and how countries that previously ran large current account surpluses or deficits can promote growth by rebalancing external and domestic demand.

Book Sweden From Neutrality to International Solidarity

Download or read book Sweden From Neutrality to International Solidarity written by Ryszard M. Czarny and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-27 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the legal and political factors determining international relations, including the processes of integration in all their complexity. The overall structure of the book, together with the composition of its separate chapters, allows for some general assumptions, identifying the main tendencies and placing them in a contemporary social context as well as establishing their relations with the practices of today. The content is a compendium of basic information and data related to the international processes which occur within specific formal, legal and political frames. The book is divided into five parts featuring not only deep historical context but most of all presenting current information and analyses of the last few years. Presented against the background and within the context of the Kingdom of Sweden’s political system and its international environment, the book brings into the foreground issues of particular importance for Sweden’s continuing European integration process and describes its response to the developments in the international situation.

This book was released on 2017-10-05 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Technical Note evaluates banking regulation and supervision in Sweden. The Finansinspektionen (Financial Supervisory Authority, FI) has made considerable progress developing supervisory approaches and techniques, particularly structured risk assessments for the four large banking groups. Concerns raised in the 2011 Financial Stability Assessment Program regarding insufficient granularity and frequency of reporting by supervised institutions has been addressed, starting in the third quarter of 2014. The FI has also implemented a new system for management of banking and insurance supervisory data. The IMF staff expressed satisfaction with the system’s functionality and flexibility to produce custom reports. The work to put in place a standardized set of internal screening and analytical reports, however, is ongoing.
