Download or read book La medicina della selva written by Federico Giudici and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2012-06 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book From Mass Conversion to Expulsion written by Nadia Zeldes and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-04-23 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the events that marked the last decades of Jewish presence in the kingdom of Naples from 1492 to 1541. It employs a comparative approach in the examination of the mass conversion of the Jews in the Kingdom of Naples in 1495, the failed attempt to establish a Spanish‐style inquisition, and the expulsions of 1510 and 1541. By relying on a variety of sources, including Hebrew literary works and rabbinic Responsa, this study sheds new light on the reception of the refugees of 1492, the evolvement of the political and military crisis of 1495, the attacks on the Jewish communities, and Jewish reaction, all aspects that have never before been subject to systematic analysis. The Spanish victory of 1503 and the transformation of southern Italy into a Spanish‐ruled dominion bring this discussion closer to the Iberian model of mass conversions and expulsions. The unprecedented expulsion of the New Christians along with the Jews offers a unique opportunity for drawing a parallel with the much later expulsion of the Moriscos from Spain. By highlighting these aspects, this book offers insights for understanding the larger issues of the integration of refugees and rejection of minority groups, questions that are as relevant to present concerns and politics as they were on the eve of the modern era.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today the regression clause of iGen comes from a number of elements, including the “lack of cultural capital”, because of a kind of human habit to live suspended between a real and virtual world. The forgetfulness of the real body also produces fallout series on mental health up to cause behavioral cognitive disorders. The identity of the human race is aware of mutual recognition among the living, but only individuals who possess the moral sense are able to share and understand this meaning. The identity is constructed through the recognition of the other (Galimberti U., 2007, p. 33). Europe will see more and more prevailing Metissage, but the integration meets a weak resilience in particular by later generations over the years compared to youngsters still in school age. The @generation is the next new nationality, and should be better monitored. Motricity of @generation is now mainly limited to the use of two inches, committed spasmodically, anywhere texting to the Community which corresponds the homeostatic super organism which is the global network. Investing in school sports for a longer time and more awareness promote the bodily kinesthetic intelligence and assess alterations in favour of better physical, mental and moral sense balance.

Download or read book Ritual Rapture and Remorse written by Jerri Daboo and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2010 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was awarded a Special Mention Citation in the 2010 competition for the 'de la Torre Bueno Prize' by The Society of Dance History Scholars. In the region of Salento in Southern Italy, the music and dance of the pizzica has been used in the ritual of tarantism for many centuries as a means to cure someone bitten by the taranta spider. This book, a historical and ethnographic study of tarantism and pizzica, draws upon seven hundred years of writings about the ritual contributed by medical practitioners, scientists, travel writers and others. It also investigates the contemporary revival of interest in pizzica music and dance as part of the 'neo-tarantism' movement, where pizzica and the history of tarantism form a complex web of place, culture and identity for Salentines today. This is one of the first books in English to explore this fascinating ritual practice and its contemporary resurgence. It uses an interdisciplinary framework based in performance studies to ask wider questions about the experience of the body in performance, and the potential of music and dance to create a sense of personal and collective transformation and efficacy.
Download or read book Mass Spectrometry in the Biological Sciences A Tutorial written by M.L Gross and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The developments in mass spectrometry over the past fifteen years have been impressive in their implications in bioanalytical chemistry. The achievements begin with the inventions of Cf-252 Plasma Desorption Mass Spectrometry by Macfarlane and Fourier Transform Mass Spectrometry by Comisarow and Marshall in the mid 1970s. The former showed the feasibility of producing large gas-phase ions from large biomolecules whereas the latter enhanced the capabilities for ion trapping especially in analytical mass spectrometry. A major achievement was the development by Barber of Fast Atom Bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometry, an advance that heralded a new era in biological mass spectrometry. Contemporary and routine instruments such as magnetic sectors and quadrupoles were rapidly adapted to F AB, and nearly the entire universe of small molecules became amenable to study by mass spectrometry. The introduction of FAB also paved the way for improvement of instrument capability. For example, the upper mass limit of magnet sector mass spectrometers was increased by nearly an order of magnitude by the instrument manufacturers. Furthermore, the technique of tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) was given new meaning because important structural information for biomolecules could now be produced for ions introduced by FAB into the tandem instrument. The evolution of MS/MS continues today with the development of ion traps, time-of-flight, and sector instruments equipped with array detection.
