Book Measurements of Ultraviolet Absorption Cross Sections of NO2 at Various Pressures and Temperatures

Download or read book Measurements of Ultraviolet Absorption Cross Sections of NO2 at Various Pressures and Temperatures written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An account is given of progress towards the measurements of absolute, ultra violet cross sections of N02 during the ten-month period 10/1/93-7/31/94. The accomplishments include: (a) construction of an absorption cell; (b) construction of vacuum system; (c) the assembly of an optical system including focusing of a 6.65 m spectrograph; (d) obtaining high resolution photographic spectra of N02 in absorption; and (e) the first measurements of cross sections of N02 at 295 K. The high resolution absorption spectrum of N02 has been obtained from National Research Council of Canada. The high resolution cross sections of N02 at 295 K have been measured photoelectrically in the wavelength region 390-452 nm. No pressure dependency has been observed. The absolute cross section scale agrees with published values, but there are large wavelength shifts in earlier works.

Book Ultraviolet Absorption Cross Sections of HO2NO2 Vapor

Download or read book Ultraviolet Absorption Cross Sections of HO2NO2 Vapor written by Luisa T. Molina and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ultraviolet absorption cross sections for gas phase HO2NO2 have been measured between 190 and 330 nm, at 298K and 1 atm total pressure. The HO2NO2 vapor was prepared in a flowing N2 stream in the presence of H2O, H2O2, HNO3, and NO2. The composition of the mixture was established by visible and infrared absorption spectroscopy and by chemical titration after absorption in aqueous solutions. The experimental uncertainty (one standard deviation) ranges from 5% at 200 nm to 30% at 330 nm, and mainly falls in the 10% range. The solar photodissociation rate in the troposphere and lower stratosphere is estimated to be about ten to the -5th power/sec for 0 deg solar zenith angle.

Book High Resolution Absolute Absorption Cross Sections of NO2 at 295 573 and 673K at Visible Wavelengths Comprehensive Data Tables

Download or read book High Resolution Absolute Absorption Cross Sections of NO2 at 295 573 and 673K at Visible Wavelengths Comprehensive Data Tables written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Absolute absorption cross sections of nitrogen dioxide were measured with a resolution of 0.008 nm in 470-490, 520-534, 588-601, and 603-616 nm spectral regions at temperatures of 295, 573, and 673K. An absolute error of +/- 10% is due principally to uncertainty in the NO2 concentration. Absorption cross sections were also measured at these temperatures in the 450-650 nm spectral region with a resolution of 0.075 nm with an error of +/- 10%. All data were corrected for thermal decomposition of NO2 at the elevated temperatures. The spectral features show broadening at elevated temperatures consistent with the breakdown of delta K selection rules for higher rotational levels.

Book Chemical Processes in Atmospheric Oxidation

Download or read book Chemical Processes in Atmospheric Oxidation written by Georges Le Bras and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oxidation and removal of atmospheric constituents involve complex sequences of reactions which can lead to the production of photo-oxidants such as ozone. In order to understand and model these complex reaction sequences, it is necessary to have a comprehensive understanding of reaction mechanisms and accurate estimates of kinetic parameters for relevant gas-phase atmospheric reactions. This book presents recent advances in the field and includes the following topics: e.g. the oxidation of simple organic compounds, NOx kinetics and mechanisms, OH radical production and rate constants for the OH attack on more complex organic compounds, peroxy and alkoxy radical reactions, photo-oxidation of aromatic and biogenic compounds, and the interaction between radical species.

Book Chemistry of the Upper and Lower Atmosphere

Download or read book Chemistry of the Upper and Lower Atmosphere written by Barbara J. Finlayson-Pitts and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1999-11-17 with total page 993 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is the most comprehensive and up-to-date treatment of one of the hottest areas of chemical research. The treatment of fundamental kinetics and photochemistry will be highly useful to chemistry students and their instructors at the graduate level, as well as postdoctoral fellows entering this new, exciting, and well-funded field with a Ph.D. in a related discipline (e.g., analytical, organic, or physical chemistry, chemical physics, etc.). Chemistry of the Upper and Lower Atmosphere provides postgraduate researchers and teachers with a uniquely detailed, comprehensive, and authoritative resource. The text bridges the "gap" between the fundamental chemistry of the earth's atmosphere and "real world" examples of its application to the development of sound scientific risk assessments and associated risk management control strategies for both tropospheric and stratospheric pollutants. Serves as a graduate textbook and "must have" reference for all atmospheric scientists Provides more than 5000 references to the literature through the end of 1998 Presents tables of new actinic flux data for the troposphere and stratospher (0-40km) Summarizes kinetic and photochemical date for the troposphere and stratosphere Features problems at the end of most chapters to enhance the book's use in teaching Includes applications of the OZIPR box model with comprehensive chemistry for student use
