With these data measurements of the properties of the W boson have been performed. From the ratio of the W and Z production cross sections a measurement of the W boson width of 2.062 " 0.059 GeV has been obtained. The W boson mass has been measured to be 80.34 " 0.15 GeV. Both detectors have observed diboson production and measured the triple gauge boson couplings. No deviations from Standard Model predictions have been observed.

An incredibly precise measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is reported, a fresh result from the Brookhaven National Laboratory. Apart from these distinct physics highlights, there are also the first results from the new Tevatron run and from the relativistic heavy ion collider RHIC. Theorists write of our ever better understanding of the Standard Model and of what might lie beyond. Risky as it is to highlight only a couple of exciting subjects, it is merely meantto whet the appetite for further reading.

Based on a subset of this data preliminary measurements of the W[sup [plus-minus]] and Z[sup 0] production cross section and a measurement of [alpha][sub s] at Q[sup 2] = M[sub W][sup 2] derived from the ratio of W + 1jet to W + 0jets is presented.
