The authors measure the branching fraction[Beta](B[sup -][yields] D*[sup 0] K*[sup -])= (8.3[+-] 1.1(stat)[+-] 1.0(syst)) x 10[sup -4], and the fraction of longitudinal polarization in this decay to be[Lambda][sub L]/[Lambda]= 0.86[+-] 0.06(stat)[+-] 0.03(syst).

The D[sup 0] is detected through its decays to K[sup -] [pi][sup +], K[sup -][pi][sup +][pi][sup 0] and K[sup -] [pi][sup +][pi][sup -][pi][sup +], and the K*[sup -] through its decay to K[sub S][sup 0] [pi][sup -]. They measure the branching fraction to be [Beta](B[sup -] [yields] D[sup 0]K*[sup -]) = (6.3 [+-] 0.7(stat.) [+-] 0.5(syst.)) x 10[sup -4].

The analysis is conducted with a partial reconstruction technique, in which only the D[sub s][sup (*)+] and the soft pion from the D*[sup -] decay are reconstructed. From the observed rates, we measure the branching fractions[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -])= (1.03[+-] 0.14[+-] 0.13[+-] 0.26)% and[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -])= (1.97[+-] 0.15[+-] 0.30[+-] 0.49)%, where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is the error due to the D[sub s][sup+][yields][phi][pi][sup+] branching fraction uncertainty. From the[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -]) angular distributions, we measure the fraction of longitudinal polarization[Lambda][sub L]/[Lambda]= (51.9[+-] 5.0[+-] 2.8)%, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction, based on factorization. These results are preliminary.

Book excerpt: Decays of the type B[yields] D[sup (*)][bar D](*) can be used to provide a measurement of the parameter sin2[beta] of the Unitarity Triangle that is complementary to the measurement derived from the mode B[sup 0][yields]/K[sub S][sup 0]. In this document we report a measurement of the branching fraction for the decay B[sup 0][yields] D*[sup+]D*[sup -] with the BABAR detector. With data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb[sup -1] collected at the[Upsilon](4S) resonance during 1999-2000, we have reconstructed 38 candidate signal events in the mode B[sup 0][yields] D*[sup+]D*[sup -] with an estimated background of 6.2[+-] 0.5 events. From these events, we determine the branching fraction to be[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sup+]D*[sup -])= (8.0[+-] 1.6(stat)[+-] 1.2(syst)) x 10[sup -4] (preliminary). The measured fraction of the component with odd CP parity is 0.27[+-] 0.17(stat)[+-] 0.02(syst).

We measure the branching fractions [Beta](B[sup +] [yields] [eta][sub c]K[sup +]) = (1.34 [+-] 0.09 [+-] 0.13 [+-] 0.41) x 10[sup -3] and [Beta](B[sup 0] [yields] [eta][sub c]K[sup 0]) = (1.18 [+-] 0.16 [+-] 0.13 [+-] 0.37) x 10[sup -3], where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third reflects the [eta][sub c] branching fraction uncertainty. In addition, we search for B [yields] [eta][sub c]K events with [eta][sub c] [yields] 2(K[sup +]K[sup -]) and [eta][sub c] [yields] [phi][phi] and determine the [eta][sub c] decay branching fraction ratios [Beta]([eta][sub c] [yields] 2(K[sup +]K[sup -]))/[Beta]([eta][sub c] [yields] K[bar K][pi]) = (2.3 [+-] 0.7 [+-] 0.6) x 10[sup -2] and [Beta]([eta][sub c] [yields] [phi][phi])/[Beta]([eta][sub c] [yields] K[bar K][pi]) = (5.5 [+-] 1.4 [+-] 0.5) x 10[sup -2].

Book excerpt: The purpose of this analysis is the simultaneous measurement of the branching fraction, the longitudinal-polarization component, and the direct-CP-violating charge asymmetry for the B --> vector-vector decay mode B[sup +] --> K*[sup 0][rho][sup +], which has previously not been seen experimentally. The measurement of the polarization of the penguin decay is of special interest. There is no tree contribution to the decay amplitude and only a very small annihilation process. The polarization of the B[sup +] --> K*[sup 0][rho][sup +] decay mode can be compared to that already measured for the similar penguin decay B --> K*[phi].

B[sup 0] mesons are reconstructed through the decay chain B[sup 0][yields] J/[psi] K*[sup 0], J/[psi][yields][mu][sup+][mu][sup[minus]], K*[sup 0][yields] K[sup+][pi][sup[minus]]. A sample of 65[+-] 10 events is used to obtain the result[Lambda][sub L]/[Lambda]= 0.65[+-] 0.10 (stat)[+-] 0.04 (sys). The first measurement of[Lambda][sub L]/[Lambda] in the decay B[sub s][sup 0][yields] J/[psi][phi] is also presented.

Book excerpt: Using 65 million {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e{sup +}e{sup -} storage ring at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, they measure the color-favored branching fractions {Beta}({bar B}{sup 0} {yields} D{sup +}{pi}{sup -}) = (2.63 {+-} 0.05 {+-} 0.22) x 10{sup -3}, {Beta}({bar B}{sup 0} {yields} D*{sup +}{pi}{sup -}) = (2.79 {+-} 0.08 {+-} 0.18) x 10{sup -3}, {Beta}(B{sup -} {yields} D{sup 0}{pi}{sup -}) = (4.90 {+-} 0.07 {+-} 0.23) x 10{sup -3} and {Beta}(B{sup -} {yields} D*{sup 0} {pi}{sup -}) = (5.52 {+-} 0.17 {+-} 0.43) x 10{sup -3}, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. With these results and the current world average for the branching fraction for the color-suppressed decay {bar B}{sup 0} {yields} D{sup (*)0}{pi}{sup 0}, the cosines of the strong phase difference {delta} between the I = 1/2 and I = 3/2 isospin amplitudes are determined to be cos{sigma} = 0.860{sub -0.006-0.028}{sup +0.007+0.029} for the {bar B} {yields} D{pi} process and cos{sigma} = 0.917{sub -0.016-0.051}{sup +0.018+0.059} for the {bar B} {yields} D*{pi} process. The results for cos{delta} suggest that final-state interactions are presented in the D{pi} system.
