This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this analysis is the simultaneous measurement of the branching fraction, the longitudinal-polarization component, and the direct-CP-violating charge asymmetry for the B --> vector-vector decay mode B[sup +] --> K*[sup 0][rho][sup +], which has previously not been seen experimentally. The measurement of the polarization of the penguin decay is of special interest. There is no tree contribution to the decay amplitude and only a very small annihilation process. The polarization of the B[sup +] --> K*[sup 0][rho][sup +] decay mode can be compared to that already measured for the similar penguin decay B --> K*[phi].

This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We present measurements of the decays B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup (*)+] D*[sup -], using data recorded by the BABAR detector in 1999 and 2000, consisting of 20.8 fb[sup -1]. The analysis is conducted with a partial reconstruction technique, in which only the D[sub s][sup (*)+] and the soft pion from the D*[sup -] decay are reconstructed. From the observed rates, we measure the branching fractions[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -])= (1.03[+-] 0.14[+-] 0.13[+-] 0.26)% and[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -])= (1.97[+-] 0.15[+-] 0.30[+-] 0.49)%, where the first error is statistical, the second is systematic, and the third is the error due to the D[sub s][sup+][yields][phi][pi][sup+] branching fraction uncertainty. From the[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+] D*[sup -]) angular distributions, we measure the fraction of longitudinal polarization[Lambda][sub L]/[Lambda]= (51.9[+-] 5.0[+-] 2.8)%, which is consistent with the theoretical prediction, based on factorization. These results are preliminary.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decays of the type B 2!D{sup (*)} {bar D}(*) can be used to provide a measurement of the parameter sin2[beta] of the Unitarity Triangle that is complementary to the measurement derived from the mode B° 2!K{sub S}°. In this document we report a measurement of the branching fraction for the decay B° 2!D*D*− with the BABAR detector. With data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb−1 collected at the [Upsilon](4S) resonance during 1999-2000, we have reconstructed 38 candidate signal events in the mode B° 2!D*D*− with an estimated background of 6.2 ± 0.5 events. From these events, we determine the branching fraction to be [Beta](B° 2!D*+D*−) = (8.0 ± 1.6(stat) ± 1.2(syst)) x 10−4 (preliminary). The measured fraction of the component with odd CP parity is 0.27± 0.17(stat) ± 0.02(syst).

This book was released on 2008 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We study B° 2![rho]°[rho]° decays in a sample of 465 x 106 [Upsilon](4S) 2!B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy ee− collider located at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). We measure the branching fraction [Beta] = (0.92 ± 0.32 ± 0.14) x 10−6 and longitudinal polarization fraction f{sub L} = 0.75{sub -0.14}{sup +0.11} ± 0.04, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The evidence for the B° 2![rho]°[rho]° signal has a significance of 3.1 standard deviations, including systematic uncertainties. We investigate the proper-time dependence of the longitudinal component in the decay and measure the CP-violating coefficients S{sub L}°° = (0.3 ± 0.7 ± 0.2) and C{sub L}°° = (0.2 ± 0.8 ± 0.3). They study the implication of these results for the unitarity triangle angle [alpha].

This book was released on 2012 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We report updated branching fraction measurements of the color-suppressed decays {bar B}° → D°?°, D*°?°, D°?, D*°?, D°?, D*°?, D°?', and D*°?'. We measure the branching fractions (x10−4):?({bar B}° → D°?°) = 2.69 ± 0.09 ± 0.13,?({bar B}° → D*°?°) = 3.05 ± 0.14 ± 0.28,?({bar B}° → D°?) = 2.53 ± 0.09 ± 0.11,?({bar B}° → D*°?) = 2.69 ± 0.14 ± 0.23,?({bar B}° → D°?) = 2.57 ± 0.11 ± 0.14,?({bar B}° → D*°?) = 4.55 ± 0.24 ± 0.39,?({bar B}° → D°?') = 1.48 ± 0.13 ± 0.07, and?({bar B}° → D*°?') = 1.49 ± 0.22 ± 0.15. We also present the first measurement of the longitudinal polarization fraction of the decay channel D*°?, f{sub L} = (66.5 ± 4.7 ± 1.5)%. In the above, the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The results are based on a sample of (454 ± 5) x 106 B{bar B} pairs collected at the?(4S) resonance, with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II storage rings at SLAC. The measurements are the most precise determinations of these quantities from a single experiment. They are compared to theoretical predictions obtained by factorization, Soft Collinear Effective Theory (SCET) and perturbative QCD (pQCD). We find that the presence of final state interactions is favored and the measurements are in better agreement with SCET than with pQCD.

Book Measurement of the B rightarrow P bar p K Branching Fraction and Study of the Decay Dynamics

Download or read book Measurement of the B rightarrow P bar p K Branching Fraction and Study of the Decay Dynamics written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a sample of 232 x 106 [Upsilon](4S) 2!B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector, we study the decay B 2!p{bar p}K excluding charmonium decays to p{bar p}. We measure a branching fraction [Beta](B+ 2!p{bar p}K+) = (6.7 ± 0.5 ± 0.4) x 10−6. An enhancement at low p{bar p} mass is observed and the Dalitz plot asymmetry suggests dominance of the penguin amplitude in this B decay. We search for a pentaquark candidate [Theta]*{sup ++} decaying into pK+ in the mass range 1.43 to 2.00 GeV/c2 and set limits on [Beta](B+ 2![Theta]*{sup ++} {bar p}) x [Beta]([Theta]*{sup ++} 2!pK+) at the 10−7 level.
