Book Future Mobile Communication

Download or read book Future Mobile Communication written by Raphael T. L. Rolny and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2016-03-31 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increasing demand for ubiquitous data service sets high expectations on future cellular networks. They should not only provide data rates that are higher by orders of magnitude than today's systems, but also have to guarantee high coverage and reliability. Thereby, sophisticated interference management is inevitable. The focus of this work is to develop cooperative transmission schemes that can be applied to cellular networks of the next generation and beyond. For this, conventional network architectures and communication protocols have to be challenged and new concepts need to be developed. Starting from cellular networks with base station cooperation, this thesis investigates how classical network architectures can evolve to future networks in which the mobile stations are no longer served by base stations in their close vicinity, but by a dynamic and flexible heterogeneity of different nodes. With the transition from classical cell-based networks to relay enabled post-cellular networks, we trade off node complexity with density. Aggressive spatial multiplexing can thereby deliver high data rates to large areas in a very efficient way, even when the backhaul capacity is limited or when in certain areas no backhaul access is available at all. The beneficial performance scaling shows that such post-cellular networks can offer a flexible and dynamic solution for mobile communication of future generations.

Book The Limits of Hobbesian Contractarianism

Download or read book The Limits of Hobbesian Contractarianism written by Jody S. Kraus and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2002 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the most comprehensive, rigorous critique of contemporary Hobbesian contractarianism as expounded in the work of Jean Hampton, Gregory Kavka, and David Gauthier. Professor Kraus argues that the attempts by these three philosophers to use Hobbes to answer current political and moral questions fail. The reasons why they fail are related to fundamental problems intrinsic to Hobbesian contractarianism: first, the problem of collective action arising out of the tension in Hobbes' theory between individual and collective rationality; second, the classical problem of explaining the normative force of hypothetical action, a problem that can be traced to the conflicting strategies of hypothetical justification found in Rawls' and Hobbes' theories. Given the deep interest in Hobbesian contractarianism among philosophers, political theorists, game theorists in economics and political science, and legal theorists, this book is likely to attract wide attention and infuse new life into the contractarian debate.

Book Descentralizacion para Satisfacer Necesidades Basicas

Download or read book Descentralizacion para Satisfacer Necesidades Basicas written by J. Michael McGuire and published by IAP. This book was released on 2009-03-01 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approximately 25% of Latin Americans live on less than $2 a day, and Latin America is the most unequal region of the world. Poverty and inequality cause suffering and slow development. The solution must include generating an inclusive development process through satisfying the basic needs of the poor that enhance their productivity, that enable them to contribute to the development process, and that enables them to earn the income necessary to live a full life. Decentralization of taxing and spending from the central government to lower levels of government can help to satisfy basic needs of the poor and create an inclusive development process. However, decentralization is a stepby-step process that must implemented by taking into account real-world circumstances such as a lack of administrative ability in local government, and by formulating policy accordingly. The book derives economic principles for implementing the process of decentralization, and it presents cases that illustrate the principles at work. It is an economic guide for policymakers and practitioners.

Book Agent Mediated Electronic Commerce II

Download or read book Agent Mediated Electronic Commerce II written by Alexandros Moukas and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Internet is spawning many new markets and electronic commerce is changing many market conventions. Not only are old commercial practices being adapted to the new conditions of immediacy brought forth by the global networks, but new products and services, as well as new practices, are beginning to appear. There is already ample evidence that agent-based technologies will be crucial for these - velopments. However many theoretical, technological, sociological, and legal - pects will need to be addressed before such opportunities become a significant reality. In addition to streamlining traditional transactions, agents enable new types of transactions. For example, the elusive one-to-one marketing becomes more of a - ality when consumer agents capture and share (or sell) consumer demographics. Prices and other transaction dimensions need no longer to be fixed; selling agents can dynamically tailor merchant offerings to each consumer. Economies of scale become feasible in new markets when agents negotiate on special arbitration c- tracts. Dynamic business relationships will give rise to more competitively agile organizations. It is these new opportunities combined with substantial reduction in transaction costs that will revolutionize electronic commerce.

Book Executive Ethics

Download or read book Executive Ethics written by Ronald R. Sims and published by IAP. This book was released on 2008-05-01 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foreword by Dennis W. Bakke, best selling author of "Joy at Work". Afterword by C. William Pollard, best selling author of "The Soul of the Firm." Scott Quatro and Ronald Sims have put together an impressive group of experts that delve into the essential elements of C-suite leadership; especially, ethics-driven leadership. The book reminds us that the "bottom line" is more complicated now. Profits are only part of the equation. The post Sarbanes–Oxley era requires more than ethics-related compliance. It calls for the creation of an ethics-driven ethos as well. This book begins the dialogue toward such an ethos. This timely volume is unified in its collective voice, but uniquely diverse in its independent voices, as it draws on the wisdom and experiences of twenty-nine different contributors from both industry and the academy. This book will also help you understand how organizations can maximize the fun, effectiveness, and experienced meaningfulness of the people who work there. The fundamentals are simple and easy to understand. Unfortunately, few C-suite leaders can bring themselves to lead consistently following these fundamentals. An ethical organizational leader must continuously remind the organization why the organization exists, and why what it does is important. People will not work with energy, engagement, and consistency without a purpose they intensely believe is worthwhile. Leaders must continually find ways to articulate the importance of individual peoples' efforts toward that end.

Book Testing Macroeconometric Models

Download or read book Testing Macroeconometric Models written by Ray C. Fair and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 1994 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book Ray Fair expounds powerful techniques for estimating and analyzing macroeconometric models. He takes advantage of the remarkable decrease in computational costs that has occurred since the early 1980s by implementing such sophisticated techniques as stochastic simulation. Testing Macroeconometric Models also incorporates the assumption of rational expectations in the estimation, solution, and testing of the models. And it presents the latest versions of Fair's models of the economies of the United States and other countries. After estimating and testing the U.S. model, Fair analyzes its properties, including those relevant to economic policymakers: the optimal monetary policy instrument, the effect of a government spending reduction on the government deficit, whether monetary policy is becoming less effective over time, and the sensitivity of policy effects to the assumption of rational expectations. Ray Fair has conducted research on structural macroeconometric models for more than twenty years. With interest increasing in the area, this book will be an essential reference for macroeconomists.
