Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being blessed to have traveled extensively around the world, I have had the pleasure to truly see the differences and the similarities of all humans upon this earth. It is not an easy thing to see people suffering in their lives and not be moved to some kind of action or at the least speak openly about it. Bringing attention to things that can be changed, that often is ignored, because no one wants to be responsible for speaking out against wrong. Seeing that if a situation isn't directly affecting a person, then it seems to not be important to help change it. I am compelled to often write about the common things in life that effects every human, yet for some reason or another, no one wants to address. Life is about growth, not living in denial about what can be made right. Everyone in this life deserves a chance to have joy, peace and happiness, without others pressing their ways upon them. I believe that, we are our worst enemies and until we come to the realization that most of our suffering in life comes from ourselves, and we have the power within ourselves to change that. Then and only then will this world be the place it was intended to be. I encourage all who read this book, to be encouraged, and know that there is nothing in this world you can't overcome. Just believe in yourself, and never give up.

Download or read book To Them Who Love the Lord written by Annalee Sanders and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-04-12 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through grief, tragedy, divorce, sickness, aging, death, and other storms of life, God shows up. But we must be open to his holy presence; we must know that he is a rewarder to those who diligently seek him. “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). A book composed of short stories, prayers, journal entries, and scriptures, To Them Who Love the Lord, is inspiring and reminding of God’s love, goodness, mercy, and grace. It reminds us, as humans, that when we have no strength, God is our strength. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

These horrific transgressions left his father hanging from a tree and ripped Tibias' hometown apart before he ever took a breath. But the lessons that he learns from his mother, her new friend, Sergeant Luke Worthy, and an eccentric newcomer to Principle, Adam Zur, will give him the strength to believe that the impossible can happen and keep him from experiencing his father's fate. Deceit is brought to light, and the deeds of death will discover justice as the festering wounds of a town's heart are exposed to the divine love that can heal it.

Book The Portable Creek

Download or read book The Portable Creek written by Keith Huffman and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2021-03-05 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Benefits Charity “This is a family memoir, of sorts, told one newspaper column at a time, a variety of memories stitched together like a patchwork quilt.” So writes columnist Keith Huffman in describing this nifty collection of Southern essays that pay tribute to a charming bunch of characters who personify small-town life. Reflecting on his childhood in the West Alabama town of Gordo, Huffman shares the stories and memories of the folks who made their marks on him, including: • Pawpaw Buck, the ornery-though-lovable old coot, whose dying wish was to get baptized by the very country preacher who’d been damned determined to save his soul for decades; • Doe Doe, the author’s father, a Crimson Tide fanatic and big-rig ace, whose One True Love was a black and silver 1979 Ford F-150 that flaunted its glorious name across its gleaming windshield: Silver Bullet; • Mawmaw Sue, expert remover of deadly splinters and master engineer, who once used a shoestring to keep a push mower running long enough to finish the job; • Aunt Lorene, a beast of a card player, who lacked neither a winning hand nor mocking grin for her brother, Henry, the man who not only named himself but fulfilled an old psychic’s prophecy that he’d “go overseas and find a gold mine.” Other stories involve bootlegging shenanigans, a drunken cage match with a wild cat, plus the author’s burned luck and bitter fishing tragedy. Huffman also shares about how he learned the fine art of backroad skepticism; his ongoing ponderings over how life as a turtle could have turned out; and his musings over the joys of fatherhood... proving that parenting is no easy task, especially when a young’un holds a grudge after dreaming his mother ate his dinosaur. This collection also includes other newspaper features Huffman has written over the years, highlighting examples of Southern hearts, tragedies, and triumphs.

Book Silent Journey

Download or read book Silent Journey written by Edwina Holman Champion and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2016-05-10 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “I don’t have any idea what we are doing, where we are going, or if what we are doing is the right thing. I’m just trusting that God will take care of things from this point on.” With those words, Steve and Edwina Champion went to see their daughter for the first time on a cold, gray, winter day in Ukraine. They had never before flown on an airplane when they left their North Carolina home for a country where everything—the language, the food, even the toilet paper—was unfamiliar, and finding a simple can opener was nothing short of miraculous. After many frustrating days of being cooped up in a drab, soulless apartment, they were about to meet Lillyann, the little girl of their dreams. This is the story of one couple’s experience of adopting a child from a foreign country—a child that not only had developmental delays but was deaf. Most of all, it is a story about God’s hand in the lives of everyday people. Adopting Lillyann led Steve and Edwina back to the Lord and made crystal-clear the importance of a loving church family. Although they have since experienced numerous heartaches and trials, the Champions’ conviction that God always intended for Lillyann to be their daughter has never wavered, and their love for her has only deepened. Edwina’s letters to Lillyann capture the couple’s anticipation, anxiety, and joy with a freshness and poignancy that will touch your heart.
