Book Matrix Isolated Infrared Spectroscopic Study of the Oxidation Reaction Intermediates of Electron Donors by Chromyl Chloride

Download or read book Matrix Isolated Infrared Spectroscopic Study of the Oxidation Reaction Intermediates of Electron Donors by Chromyl Chloride written by Susan Rae Anderson and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The matrix isolation technique has been employed to sequentially isolate intermediates when formed in the oxidation of various organic electron donors and ammonia with chromyl chloride. Both merged jet and twin jet configurations were used to deposit the reactants upon the CsI window in the cold head. Annealing the matrix to 36K was done on most of the samples to enhance the intensity of the initial complex formed upon deposition. The matrix was then irradiated with a mercury arc lamp for one hour. In most instances, this led to the destruction of the initial complex and to the formation a new product. Density functional calculations (B3LYP/6-311G) were carried out on the SGI computers using Gaussian 94 in order to provide theoretical vibrational spectra of the intermediates for comparison with the experimental spectra. Blank depositions and theoretical calculations were also carried out on all the reactants individually.

Book Frontiers and Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy

Download or read book Frontiers and Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy written by Jaan Laane and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-11-13 with total page 788 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frontiers and Advances in Molecular Spectroscopy once again brings together the most eminent scientists from around the world to describe their work at the cutting-edge of molecular spectroscopy. Much of what we know about atoms, molecules and the nature of matter has been obtained using spectroscopy over the last one hundred years or so. Going far beyond the topics discussed in Jaan Laane's earlier book on the subject, these chapters describe new methodologies and applications, instrumental developments and theory, which are taking spectroscopy into still new frontiers. The robust range of topics once again demonstrates the wide utility of spectroscopic techniques. New topics include ultrafast spectroscopy of the transition state, SERS/far-uv spectroscopy, femtosecond coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy, high-resolution laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and biosensors, vibrational optical activity, ultrafast two-dimensional spectroscopy, biology with x-ray lasers, isomerization dynamics and hydrogen bonding, single molecule imaging, spectra of intermediates, matrix isolation spectroscopy and more. - Covers spectroscopic investigations on the cutting edge of science - Written and edited by leading experts in their respective fields - Allows researchers to access a broad range of essential modern spectroscopy content from a single source rather than wading through hundreds of scattered journal articles

Book Computational Organic Chemistry

Download or read book Computational Organic Chemistry written by Steven M. Bachrach and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-04-07 with total page 653 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second Edition demonstrates how computational chemistry continues to shed new light on organic chemistry The Second Edition of author Steven Bachrach’s highly acclaimed Computational Organic Chemistry reflects the tremendous advances in computational methods since the publication of the First Edition, explaining how these advances have shaped our current understanding of organic chemistry. Readers familiar with the First Edition will discover new and revised material in all chapters, including new case studies and examples. There’s also a new chapter dedicated to computational enzymology that demonstrates how principles of quantum mechanics applied to organic reactions can be extended to biological systems. Computational Organic Chemistry covers a broad range of problems and challenges in organic chemistry where computational chemistry has played a significant role in developing new theories or where it has provided additional evidence to support experimentally derived insights. Readers do not have to be experts in quantum mechanics. The first chapter of the book introduces all of the major theoretical concepts and definitions of quantum mechanics followed by a chapter dedicated to computed spectral properties and structure identification. Next, the book covers: Fundamentals of organic chemistry Pericyclic reactions Diradicals and carbenes Organic reactions of anions Solution-phase organic chemistry Organic reaction dynamics The final chapter offers new computational approaches to understand enzymes. The book features interviews with preeminent computational chemists, underscoring the role of collaboration in developing new science. Three of these interviews are new to this edition. Readers interested in exploring individual topics in greater depth should turn to the book’s ancillary website www.comporgchem.com, which offers updates and supporting information. Plus, every cited article that is available in electronic form is listed with a link to the article.
