Download or read book On the Way to Understanding the Time Phenomenon written by A. P. Levich and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Time is considered as an independent entity which cannot be reduced to the concept of matter, space or field. The point of discussion is the ?time flow? conception of N A Kozyrev (1908-1983), an outstanding Russian astronomer and natural scientist. In addition to a review of the experimental studies of ?the active properties of time?, by both Kozyrev and modern scientists, the reader will find different interpretations of Kozyrev's views and some developments of his ideas in the fields of geophysics, astrophysics, general relativity and theoretical mechanics.
Download or read book Stability and Time optimal Control of Hereditary Systems written by Ethelbert N. Chukwu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stability and Time-Optimal Control of Hereditary Systems is the mathematical foundation and theory required for studying in depth the stability and optimal control of systems whose history is taken into account. In this edition, the economic application is enlarged, and explored in some depth. The application holds out the hope that full employment and high income growth will be compatible with low prices and low inflation, provided that the control matrix has full rank, i.e., the existing controls are fully effectively used. The book concludes with a new appendix containing complete programs, data, graphs and quantitative results for the US economy.
Download or read book Impulsive Differential Equations written by Dimit?r Ba?nov and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question of the presence of various asymptotic properties of the solutions of ordinary differential equations arises when solving various practical problems. The investigation of these questions is still more important for impulsive differential equations which have a wider field of application than the ordinary ones. The results obtained by treating the asymptotic properties of the solutions of impulsive differential equations can be found in numerous separate articles. The systematized exposition of these results in a separate book will satisfy the growing interest in the problems related to the asymptotic properties of the solutions of impulsive differential equations and their applications.

Download or read book Dynamical Mechanical Systems Under Random Impulses written by Radoslaw Iwankiewicz and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-11-07 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents the methods of analysis of dynamical mechanical systems subjected to stochastic excitations in form of random trains of impulses. This particular class of excitations is adequately characterized by stochastic point processes and behaviour of dynamical systems is governed by stochastic differential equations driven by point processes. Based on the methods of point processes the analytical techniques are devised to characterize the response of linear and nonlinear mechanical systems as the solutions of underlying stochastic differential equations. A number of example problems of engineering importance are also solved, such as the vibration of plates and shells, and of nonlinear oscillators under random impulses.
Download or read book Plates Laminates and Shells written by T. Lewi?ski and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 768 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a systematic and comprehensive presentation of the results concerning effective behavior of elastic and plastic plates with periodic or quasiperiodic structure. One of the chapters covers the hitherto available results concerning the averaging problems in the linear and nonlinear shell models.A unified approach to the problems studied is based on modern variational and asymptotic methods, including the methods of variational inequalities as well as homogenization techniques. Duality arguments are also exploited. A significant part of the book deals with problems important for engineering practice, such as: statical analysis of highly nonhomogeneous plates and shells for which common discretization techniques fail to be efficient, assessing stiffness reduction of cracked 0n/900m]s laminates, and assessing ultimate loads for perfectly plastic plates and shells composed of repeated segments. When possible, the homogenization formulas are cast in closed form expressions. The formulas presented in this manner are then used in constructing regularized formulations of the fundamental optimization problems for plates and shells, since the regularization concepts are based on introducing the composite regions for which microstructural properties play the role of new design variables.
Download or read book Mechanics of Mixtures written by Kumbakonam Ramamani Rajagopal and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a unified treatment of the mechanics of mixtures of several constituents within the context of continuum mechanics. After an introduction to the basic theory in the first few chapters, the book deals with a detailed exposition of the mechanics of a mixture of a fluid and an elastic solid, which is either isotropic or anisotropic and is capable of undergoing large deformations. Issues regarding the specification of boundary conditions for mixtures are discussed in detail and several boundary value and initial-boundary value problems are solved. The status of some special theories like those of Darcy and Biot are discussed. Such a study has relevance to several technologically significant problems in geomechanics, biomechanics, diffusion of contaminants and the swelling and absorption of fluids in polymers and polymer composites, to mention a few.
