Book Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Neural Systems to Data Science

Download or read book Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Neural Systems to Data Science written by Anna Esposito and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-09-02 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an overview on the current progresses in artificial intelligence and neural nets in data science. The book is reporting on intelligent algorithms and applications modeling, prediction, and recognition tasks and many other application areas supporting complex multimodal systems to enhance and improve human–machine or human–human interactions. This field is broadly addressed by the scientific communities and has a strong commercial impact since investigates on the theoretical frameworks supporting the implementation of sophisticated computational intelligence tools. Such tools will support multidisciplinary aspects of data mining and data processing characterizing appropriate system reactions to human-machine interactional exchanges in interactive scenarios. The emotional issue has recently gained increasing attention for such complex systems due to its relevance in helping in the most common human tasks (like cognitive processes, perception, learning, communication, and even "rational" decision-making) and therefore improving the quality of life of the end users.

Download or read book Towards Autonomous Adaptive and Context Aware Multimodal Interfaces Theoretical and Practical Issues written by Anna Esposito and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-01-19 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume brings together the advanced research results obtained by the European COST Action 2102: "Cross Modal Analysis of Verbal and Nonverbal Communication". The research published in this book was discussed at the 3rd jointly EUCOGII-COST 2102 International Training School entitled "Toward Autonomous, Adaptive, and Context-Aware Multimodal Interfaces: Theoretical and Practical Issues ", held in Caserta, Italy, on March 15-19, 2010. The book is arranged into two scientific sections. The 18 revised papers of the first section, "Human-Computer Interaction: Cognitive and Computational Issues", deal with conjectural and processing issues of defining models, algorithms, and strategies for implementing cognitive behavioural systems. The second section, "Synchrony through Verbal and Nonverbal Signals", presents 21 revised lectures that provide theoretical and practical solutions to the modelling of timing synchronization between linguistic and paralinguistic expressions, actions, body movements, activities in human interaction and on their assistance for an effective communication.

COST Action 2102 is a network of about 60 European and 6 overseas laboratories whose aim is to develop “an advanced acoustical, perceptual and psychological analysis of verbal and non-verbal communication signals originating in spontaneous face-to-face interaction, in order to identify algorithms and automatic procedures capable of identifying the human emotional states. Particular care is devoted to the recognition of emotional states, gestures, speech and facial expressions, in antici- tion of the implementation of intelligent avatars and interactive dialogue systems that could be exploited to improve user access to future telecommunication services”(see COST 2102 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) www.cost2102.eu).
