Book Martin Bucer Briefwechsel Correspondance Band IV Januar September 1530

Download or read book Martin Bucer Briefwechsel Correspondance Band IV Januar September 1530 written by Berndt Hamm and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2022-03-07 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike most theologians of his age, Martin Bucer had a wide range of vision with respect to European affairs: In addition to his contacts within Alsace and Germany, he established relations with almost every country on the Continent. It was his ecumenical attitude that always led him to mediate between the parties in the religious battles of his time. His deep commitment and his objective to reach an agreement can be traced in all his activities, works and letters. As Bucer did not found a religious denomination himself, his theological and historical importance has been underestimated for a long time. In addition his handwriting is hard to decipher, which makes it difficult to deal with his works, especially with his letters. Bucer's letters (BCor) have been published in chronological order as part of the "Opera omnia" since 1979 (Leiden, Brill, I: 1979; II: 1989; III: 1995; IV: 2000). Since the editor, Jean Rott (Strasbourg), died Bucer's correspondence has been edited in Erlangen. This academic edition of source material will provide future research with a broad basis for significant aspects of Reformation history about which very little is known.

This book was released on 2004-06-01 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike most theologians of his age, Martin Bucer proved to be farsighted with respect to European affairs: In addition to his contacts within Alsace and Germany he established relations with almost every European country. It was his ecumenical attitude that always led him to mediate between the parties in the religious battles of his time. His deep commitment to the goal of reaching agreement can be traced in all his activities, works and letters. Since the first editor, Jean Rott (Strasbourg), died in 1998, Bucer's correspondence has been edited in Erlangen. This academic edition of source material provides future research with a broad basis for significant aspects of Reformation history about which very little is known. Volume V covers the period from September 1530 to May 1531. It therefore mainly contains information about Bucer's diplomatic journey after the Augsburg Diet, his correspondence with the Valdesian synod of Mérindol, his attempts to mediate between Luther and Zwingli with the help of his Konkordienschrift and to integrate the Swiss party in the Schmalcaldic confederation.

Book Martin Bucer Briefwechsel Correspondance Band IX September 1532 Juni 1533

Download or read book Martin Bucer Briefwechsel Correspondance Band IX September 1532 Juni 1533 written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2013-11-07 with total page 523 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Martin Bucer Briefwechsel Correspondance Band II 1524 1526

Download or read book Martin Bucer Briefwechsel Correspondance Band II 1524 1526 written by Jean Rott and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-11 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last forty years there has been a remarkable resurgence in interest by 16th-century historians in the Strasbourg Reformer, Martin Bucer (1491-1551). The components and originality of his thoughts and his actions, as well as the reality of his ideas are emerging more and more. This is largely due to the new edition of his works undertaken by an international committee, established in 1952. This edition is divided into three sections: Opera Latina (of which 5 volumes have appeared since 1953: vols. 1-3, 15 and 15 bis); Deutsche Schriften (10 volumes since 1960: vols. 1-6, 3, 7 and 17); Correspondance (vol. 1, 1979). The present second volume of the Correspondance (1524-1526) essentially covers five themes: 1) the controversies with the Roman church, 2) the evangelical propaganda, especially in the Roman speaking countries, 3) the sacramentarian dispute and the search for reconciliation, 4) the Peasant war and 5) the beginning of the anabaptist crisis.

Book Martin Bucer Opera Latina Volume 5 Defensio adversus Axioma Catholicum id est criminationem R P Roberti Episcopi Abrincensis 1534

Download or read book Martin Bucer Opera Latina Volume 5 Defensio adversus Axioma Catholicum id est criminationem R P Roberti Episcopi Abrincensis 1534 written by Martin Bucer and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2021-10-11 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Responding to Bishop Robert Ceneau, Sorbonnist, Bucer's subject-matter is twofold. Firstly, maintained is the compatibility of Reformation theology with Scripture, Patristic testimony, and the "saner Scholastics". Secondly, denying association with the heresy of Berengar, Bucer develops his perception of a common eucharistic theology among the Reformers, a theology Bucer finds corroborated in Scripture and Christian antiquity. After a plea for a fair hearing for the Reformation in France, Part I irenically surveys controverted dogmas and practices. Part II substantiates the thesis of fundamental harmony between Lutheran and Zwinglian eucharistic views. Part III rebuts Ceneau's polemical abuse. Republished as an Appendix is Bucer's contemporary memorandum on the viability of wider Church reunion. The tract reflects a significant transitional phase in Bucer's accommodation to both Catholic tradition and the Wittenberg sacramental theology.

Book Spectacle and Public Performance in the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance

Download or read book Spectacle and Public Performance in the Late Middle Ages and the Renaissance written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2006-04-01 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No volume about the spectacles and public performances of early modern England could pretend to treat comprehensively a body of materials so conspicuously vast. Rather than efforts to survey the territory, these essays are best understood in the original sense of the term as “essays”—as trials, attempts, experiments to open alternative ways of understanding that vast corpus of mystery plays, civic pageants, court masques and professional dramas that constitute its subject. The book crosses traditional period lines, including studies of Medieval as well as Renaissance entertainments. Once more, the essays are not organized according to a single critical or historical methodology. They employ an eclectic range of interpretive practices, reflecting the variety of interpretive approaches now current in the field. Contributors include: Tiffany J. Alkan, Robert W. Barrett, Jr., Sarah Beckwith, Tom Bishop, Peter Cockett, Richard K. Emmerson, Peter Holland, Nora Johnson, Richard C. McCoy, Lauren Shohet, and Robert E. Stillman.

Book Martin Bucer Briefwechsel Correspondance Band XI Januar 1534 Juli 1534

Download or read book Martin Bucer Briefwechsel Correspondance Band XI Januar 1534 Juli 1534 written by Gury Schneider-Ludorff: and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-04-17 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Early Modern Religious Communities in East Central Europe

Download or read book Early Modern Religious Communities in East Central Europe written by István Keul and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Conceived as another chapter in the European history of religions (Europäische Religionsgeschichte), this book deals with the intense dynamics of the overlapping political, ethnic, and denominational constellations in Reformation and post-Reformation Transylvania. Navigating along multiple narrative tracks, and attempting to treat the religious history of an entire region over a limited time period in a differentiated, polyfocal way, the book represents a departure from the master narratives of any singularly oriented religious history. At the same time, the present work seeks to contribute to laying the groundwork at the micro- and meso-contextual level of East-Central European confessionalization processes, and to developing interpretive models for these processes in the region.
