Book Return of the Divine Sophia

Download or read book Return of the Divine Sophia written by Tricia McCannon and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2015-03-06 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An initiatic journey into the Mysteries of the Goddess and humanity’s return to an age of peace and celestial light • Details the ceremonies and rituals of initiation into the Fellowship of Isis • Reveals the lost teachings of Jesus about the Divine Mother and Father and how the goddess Sophia is connected to Mary Magdalene as the Female Christ • Explores the many archetypes of the Goddess, including Isis, Brigit, and the Black Madonna, and how we can transform into Homo luminous, spiritual beings of light Called through her dreams by the Priestesses of Isis, Tricia McCannon set out on a spiritual journey into the Mysteries of the Goddess. After a fateful encounter with a high initiate of the ancient Fellowship of Isis, she began researching the history of Judaism and Christianity to find out how and when the Divine Feminine became lost. She discovered a forgotten age when the Creator was honored as female and humanity lived in peaceful societies completely free of war. She shows how we can return to an age of peace and celestial light if we work to bring the masculine and feminine energies of the world back into balance. Sharing her journey into the heart of the Divine Mother, McCannon details her initiation into the Fellowship of Isis, a process rich with ceremony, ritual, and myths of the Goddess from ancient Egyptian, Celtic, Greek, Hebrew, and Native American traditions. She reveals how the many archetypes of the Goddess, including Isis, Ishtar, Brigit, and the Black Madonna, can become our allies for self-transformation. She explores Mysteries at the heart of Christianity that have remained hidden for nearly 2,000 years and how the Gnostic goddess Sophia is tied to the Second Coming, Mary Magdalene, and the Female Christ. She reveals the lost teachings of Jesus about the Divine Mother and Father and about the Divine Daughter and Son. Through her story and her in-depth research, McCannon takes us on a journey to awaken the creative power of the Divine Feminine within each of us. Equipped with the teachings of the Goddess, we gain the mastery to overcome the deeply rooted masculine-feminine imbalance of the patriarchy and to embark into the future as Homo luminous, beings of light.

Book Attending

Download or read book Attending written by Ronald Epstein and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-01-24 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With his “deeply informed and compassionate book…Dr. Epstein tells us that it is a ‘moral imperative’ [for doctors] to do right by their patients” (New York Journal of Books). The first book for the general public about the importance of mindfulness in medical practice, Attending is a groundbreaking, intimate exploration of how doctors approach their work with patients. From his early days as a Harvard Medical School student, Epstein saw what made good doctors great—more accurate diagnoses, fewer errors, and stronger connections with their patients. This made a lasting impression on him and set the stage for his life’s work—identifying the qualities and habits that distinguish master clinicians from those who are merely competent. The secret, he learned, was mindfulness. Dr. Epstein “shows how taking time to pay attention to patients can lead to better outcomes on both sides of the stethoscope” (Publishers Weekly). Drawing on his clinical experiences and current research, Dr. Epstein explores four foundations of mindfulness—Attention, Curiosity, Beginner’s Mind, and Presence—and shows how clinicians can grow their capacity to provide high-quality care. The commodification of health care has shifted doctors’ focus away from the healing of patients to the bottom line. Clinician burnout is at an all-time high. Attending is the antidote. With compassion and intelligence, Epstein offers “a concise guide to his view of what mindfulness is, its value, and how it is a skill that anyone can work to acquire” (Library Journal).

Book The Single Global Currency Common Cents for the World

Download or read book The Single Global Currency Common Cents for the World written by Morrison Bonpasse and published by . This book was released on 2006-04 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 2014 Edition of THE SINGLE GLOBAL CURRENCY - COMMON CENTS FOR THE WORLD is the fifth book of this name, and it updates the text of the original 2006 edition. The 2007, 2008 and 2009 editions included the original edition together with an annual update appendix. Future editions are planned in five year increments for 2019 and 2024, the latter date being the 80th anniversary of the 1944 Bretton Woods Conference. The book is for all readers around the world, as every human being in our increasingly globalized world has an interest in achieving the goal of a Single Global Currency. What the people of the world want and deserve is stable money, so that the money they earn, save and invest today will be worth almost the same tomorrow. The Single Global Currency will provide that stability. It is the common cents/sense currency for our increasingly globalized world. The current multicurrency global monetary system is volatile and extremely risky as $5.3 trillion worth of currencies are traded every trading day on the global foreign exchange markets. Currencies crises are a continuing threat. Avoiding the effects and risks of currency fluctuations and rapid flows of cross-currency capital were the primary goals of the International Monetary Fund at its 1945 creation, and the Single Global Currency will solve both problems. The Single Global Currency will be managed by a Global Central Bank within a Global Monetary Union. Since 1999, the primary model for this "3-G" system has been the euro which is managed by the European Central Bank within the European Monetary Union. Beginning with 12 member countries, the eurozone now has 18 members and continues to grow toward its full potential of all the members of the growing European Union, which now number 28. Creation of a Single Global Currency is not a new idea or goal, but is now feasible thanks to automation and the increasing interdependence of the world's peoples. The potential benefits of a Single Global Currency are staggering: - Worldwide asset values will increase by about $10 trillion. - Worldwide GDP will increase by $trillions. - Global trade will increase by $trillions. - Annual FX trading transaction costs of $300 billion will be avoided. - Global currency/payments imbalances will be eliminated. - Currency crises will be eliminated. - Currency speculation will be eliminated. - The need for unproductive foreign exchange reserves will be eliminated. Currently, the 193 members of the United Nations use 140 currencies for their international and domestic transactions. The 50+ members without their own national currencies are using the currencies of monetary unions of which they are members, or they are using ("izing") the currencies of other countries or monetary unions. As existing monetary unions in Europe, the Caribbean and Africa are expanded, and as new monetary unions are created in Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Mid-East, the number of currencies will continue to decline. At some "tipping point," perhaps after a merger of large currencies, the largest monetary union currency will likely be designated as the world's Single Global Currency. This process can be accelerated when individuals, nations and global institutions openly declare their support for a Single Global Currency and they initiate the necessary steps toward that goal. Such steps will include a global internet-based naming process for the new currency and a timeline for implementation. There is little question that the world is moving toward a Single Global Currency. The remaining question is When? The global challenge will be to achieve the Single Global Currency with a smooth transition from the existing multicurrency system. It is hoped that this book, and the work of the Single Global Currency Association (www.singleglobalcurrency.org) will help move the world in that direction.

Book Aol com

Download or read book Aol com written by Kara Swisher and published by Three Rivers Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1996, Kara Swisher, then a reporter at The Washington Post, was granted unprecedented access to one of the hottest and most closely watched companies in the world, America Online, Inc. In aol.com, Swisher has written a book that captures the secrets of how AOL beat the competition and became the world's biggest online company. Swisher also reveals the company's behind-the-scenes dealings with Microsoft cofounders Bill Gates and Paul Allen, CompuServe, Prodigy, Netscape, and the Christian Right. Throughout its existence, AOL has repeatedly been written off by the media and the high-tech world. Bill Gates threatened to buy it or bury it. Deep-pocketed competitors such as CompuServe and Prodigy thought little of their smaller rival. And AOL made matters worse by committing a series of public-relations and technical blunders that became front page news and enraged its subscribers. But the company--a "cyber-cockroach"--refused to die. Now, with over eleven million subscribers, AOL is the undisputed leader in the online world, vitally positioned at the nexus of big business, high tech, advertising, and new media. In telling the story of AOL, Swisher also conveys the fascinating history of the online business, which has its origins in the dreams of an eccentric and little-known entrepreneur named Bill Von Meister, whose grand ideas and big spending spawned the fledgling company that would become AOL. But it fell to a young marketing executive named Steve Case to build AOL while fending off an onslaught of wealthier competitors and suitors. Ultimately, as Swisher vividly illustrates, AOL gained supremacy because Case possessed the best vision for his company, establishing AOL as avibrant virtual community rather than an online shopping center or business tool. Included in that community is an array of enthusiasts, activists, and deviants who at times clash in battles over freedom of expression and family values, a flash point best illustrated here by AOL's fight against the Communications Decency Act. Re-creating all of the major moments in AOL's frenzied history, aol.com is a fascinating and important inside story about the birth of a new medium, the enterprising innovators who are leading it, and the way it is changing our culture.
