Book Where to Sell

Download or read book Where to Sell written by Forhad Shilpi and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2007 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: This paper analyzes the effect of facilities and infrastructure available at the market place on a farmer's decision to sell at the market using a comprehensive survey of farmers, markets and villages conducted in Tamil Nadu, India in 2005. The econometric estimation shows that the likelihood of sales at the market increases significantly with an improvement in market facilities and a decrease in travel time from the village to the market. The results suggest that wealth reduces a farmer's cost of accessing market facilities more than it increases her/his opportunity cost of leisure. The wealthy farmers are able to capture a disproportionate share of the benefits of facilities available at congested markets. The policy simulation, however, shows that the marginal benefits from an improvement in market facilities will favor poorer farmers in the context of India.

Book Pharmaceutical Market Access in Developed Markets

Download or read book Pharmaceutical Market Access in Developed Markets written by Güvenç Koçkaya and published by SEEd. This book was released on 2018-01-22 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Market access is the process by which a pharmaceutical company gets its product available on the market after having obtained a marketing authorization from a regulatory agency and by which the product becomes available for all patients for whom it is indicated as per its marketing authorization. It covers a group of activities intended to provide access to the appropriate medicine for the appropriate group of patients at the appropriate price (in most countries). Market Access may also be seen as activities that support the management of potential barriers, such as non-optimal price and reimbursement levels, the restriction of the scope of prescribing for the drug or complicated prescription writing or funding procedures. Since there are cultural differences among countries, any Market Access strategy needs to be culturally sensitive. Pharmaceutical Market Access in emerging markets has been extensively discussed in our previous book, published in 2016. The present book focuses on developed markets with the goal of helping students, academics, industry personnel, government workers, and decision makers understand the environment in developed markets.

Book Services Liberalization in the EU and the WTO

Download or read book Services Liberalization in the EU and the WTO written by Marcus Klamert and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both in WTO law and EU law there is a dichotomy between liberalisation based on market access and targeting domestic regulation. Consequently, both regimes share the problem of distinguishing national measures impairing market access and those that do not have such effect. Looking at the provision of services, a cornerstone of EU substantive law, in the EU and the WTO this book offers a comprehensive evaluation of the current legal status quo on transnational services provision on a global level. Based on thorough analysis of both EU and WTO law, policymakers are provided with concrete proposals for fostering the consistency and effectiveness of the current regime. A final chapter discusses possible approaches to regulation such as home state rule, host state rule and mutual recognition from a comparative perspective. Written by a highly respected author team, this is essential reading for EU internal market specialists and WTO law scholars alike.

Book Dealing in Securities The Law and Regulation of Sales and Trading in Europe

Download or read book Dealing in Securities The Law and Regulation of Sales and Trading in Europe written by Christos Nifadopoulos and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2021-11-30 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Begins with the essential questions: - whether brokerage and dealing in securities is regulated in a jurisdiction - what aspects of the activity could bring it in scope for authorisation; and - how it is determined which regulator has legal competence to supervise the business in scope. The recent liberalisation of national authorisation regimes across Europe in the wake of MiFID II and Brexit, which has resulted in tensions with recent attempts by the EU to harmonise centrally the single market authorisation regime, is fully addressed. It reviews the details of the activities of sales, sales trading, trading and execution, what they each constitute (with reference to established communication and order management systems), the potential conflicts of interest that they bring about for a firm and how such conflicts can be managed. Each of these activities are mapped against specific regulatory obligations, such as best execution, pre- and post-trade transparency, inducements, dealing commissions rules, the short selling regime and shareholder disclosures, depicting the obligations schematically to assist the practitioner. Also covers: - dealing commission unbundling, which has reformed the way the provision and consumption of independent research and corporate access are related to execution services, - the question of multilateral trading, in other words the point at which the activity of a broker becomes exchange-like and needs to be authorised as such, - principal trading and the ability of firms to advance risk to their clients in the wake of the Volcker rule in the United States and similar legislation in Germany and elsewhere, - the rise of Systematic Internalisers and the constraints imposed on them, such as the pre-trade transparency requirements and the tick size regime, and - electronic trading, algorithmic trading, direct electronic access and high frequency trading, as well as the risk control framework that is relevant to all these activities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If most Americans accept the notion that the market is the most efficient means to distribute resources, why should body parts be excluded? Each year thousands of people die waiting for organ transplants. Many of these deaths could have been prevented were it not for the almost universal moral hand-wringing over the concept of selling human organs. Kidney for Sale by Owner, now with a new preface, boldly deconstructs the roadblocks that are standing in the way of restoring health to thousands of people. Author and bioethicist Mark Cherry reasserts the case that health care could be improved and lives saved by introducing a regulated transplant organs market rather than by well-meant, but misguided, prohibitions.

Book The Marketer s Handbook

Download or read book The Marketer s Handbook written by Laurie Young and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-04-22 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, written by a senior marketer with over thirty years experience of using marketing techniques and concepts, sets out to describe, contextualize and rate them. Its prime emphasis is on understanding their status so that they can be used to direct the use of shareholder funds effectively. Its conclusion is that seasoned professionals must use their judgement about when and how to use them, but they also need to understand them in depth if they are going to make well-rounded, effective investment decisions. Above all it asks: “how useful and relevant is this concept? Will it improve decision making? Does the damn thing have any credibility and does it work?” “This book combines a rigorous review of a wide range of marketing concepts with many practical examples and case studies. It can be read or dipped into both by seasoned professionals and by those just embarking on their marketing career.” Sir Paul Judge, President, Chartered Institute of Marketing “Laurie Young casts an experienced and skeptical eye on many cherished marketing concepts and techniques. He provides an antidote to the tendency to adopt them without understanding their limitations and possibilities.” Professor George Day, The Wharton School, Chairman of the American Marketing Association “Laurie Young has produced nothing less than the A-Z of marketing. He has journeyed far and wide mapping out hundreds of business, marketing and communications models to produce an extremely useful industry atlas. Certainly it will find a well-thumbed home on my bookshelf.” Hamish Pringle, Director General, Institute of Practitioners in Advertising “This book is much needed by marketing. Its value is in challenging concepts, some of which have been the accepted norm for a long time. But as this book shows, some of these may no longer be relevant and appropriate for marketers in today’s consumer environment.” Mike Johnston, CEO, Dairy Council of Northern Ireland and former Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Marketing “Senior marketers, like those who make up the membership of the Marketing Society, hone the methods and techniques they favour as their career develops. Laurie Young clearly did that and an experienced voice shines through this critique. It is heartening to find that so many concepts have a long history of producing real value for businesses but alarming to find so many of the theorists’ favourites to be so groundless.” Hugh Burkitt, CEO, The Marketing Society
