The difference can be detected via PCR, by using primers that are designed to complement the flanking regions. The PCR product is then run on an either agarose or polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Cregan et al. (1999) constructed an integrated linkage map of the soybean genome. Classical Linkage Group 8 (CLG 8) of the classical map has been integrated with molecular linkage group F. CLG 8 consists of seven defined loci that are: W1, Wm, Ms1, St5, Adh1, Ms6, and Y23. The nucleolus organizing region (NOR) or satellite chromosome of the soybean genome is on LG 8 (Sadanaga and Grideland, 1984). Several chromosome translocation breakpoints were also detected in CLG 8 (Mahama et al., 1998).
