Book Major Latin Declensions Conjugations Syntax

Download or read book Major Latin Declensions Conjugations Syntax written by John Evans Forsythe and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-21 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Major Latin, Declensions, Conjugations, Syntax: Roman Customs; For High Schools and Preparatory Schools The Topics and Paradigms, transplanted and enlarged from Book I, preserve their natural visualization, and save time for the student and for the teacher. The broader horizon and the fuller understanding of the content of Roman life will bring increased pleasure to the reader. The Eight Parts of Speech form the framework of the whole study; and words are grouped throughout accordingly. Phrases and sentences illustrating the paradigms are provided abundantly; yet new sentences should be supplied in addition at the discretion of instructors as special needs require. Each Vocabulary presents a picture of its own. The double-column pages give opportunity of showing the two sides of a subject; for example, the substantive and the adjective properties of a Pronoun. The Verb is introduced gradually, but finally is completely summarized in Paradigm form. The treatment of Syntax provides for the reading of any representative Latin author in prepa ration for college. But the pupil himself is the main object in hand; it is not so much a work about Latin as a work in Latin, an endeavor to present the Roman point of View in the Roman manner to his advantage. By this method Secondary Latin becomes a progressive pleasure rather than a meaningless toil. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Corporate Financing Trends and Balance Sheet Risks in Latin America

Download or read book Corporate Financing Trends and Balance Sheet Risks in Latin America written by Mr.Fabiano Rodrigues Rodrigues Bastos and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2015-01-22 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Easy global liquidity conditions, stronger risk appetite and a retrenchment in cross-border bank lending led to a surge in emerging market firms’ bond issuance in international markets (what we term “The Bon(d)anza”). Using firm-level data for five large Latin American economies, we provide evidence of a significant change in companies’ external funding strategies and liability structures after 2010, as well as in the balance sheet risks that firms face. We find that stepped up bond issuance was mostly aimed at re-financing rather than funding investment projects, as firms extended the average duration of their debt while securing lower fixed-rates, reducing roll-over and interest rate risks. The shift towards safer maturity structures has come at the expense of a leveraging-up in foreign-currency-denominated financial debt in several countries— reversing a de-dollarization trend seen during the last decade. We also provide evidence that a substantial part of these bonds were issued through offshore vehicles, suggesting regulatory and tax arbitrage strategies. For some corporations, rising dollar debt and high leverage will be particularly taxing in an environment of US dollar strengthening, less buoyant commodity prices and slowing domestic activity.

Book Latin America at 200

  • Author : Phillip Berryman
  • Publisher : University of Texas Press

  • ISBN : 1477308679
  • Pages : 384 pages

Download or read book Latin America at 200 written by Phillip Berryman and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2016-04-26 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between 2010 and 2025, most of the countries of Latin America will commemorate two centuries of independence, and Latin Americans have much to celebrate at this milestone. Most countries have enjoyed periods of sustained growth, while inequality is showing modest declines and the middle class is expanding. Dictatorships have been left behind, and all major political actors seem to have accepted the democratic process and the rule of law. Latin Americans have entered the digital world, routinely using the Internet and social media. These new realities in Latin America call for a new introduction to its history and culture, which Latin America at 200 amply provides. Taking a reader-friendly approach that focuses on the big picture and uses concrete examples, Phillip Berryman highlights what Latin Americans are doing to overcome extreme poverty and underdevelopment. He starts with issues facing cities, then considers agriculture and farming, business, the environment, inequality and class, race and ethnicity, gender, and religion. His survey of Latin American history leads into current issues in economics, politics and governance, and globalization. Berryman also acknowledges the ongoing challenges facing Latin Americans, especially crime and corruption, and the efforts being made to combat them. Based on decades of experience, research, and travel, as well as recent studies from the World Bank and other agencies, Latin America at 200 will be essential both as a classroom text and as an introduction for general readers.

Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive introduction to the history and development of the Latin New Testament and a user?s guide to the resources available for research and further study. The first five chapters offer a new historical synthesis, bringing together evidence from Christian authors and biblical manuscripts from earliest times to the late Middle Ages. Each witness is considered in its chronological and geographical context, to build up the bigger picture of the transmission of the text. There are chapters introducing features of Latin biblical manuscripts and examining how the Latin tradition may serve as a witness for the Greek New Testament. In addition, each book of the New Testament is considered in turn, with details of the principal witnesses and features of particular textual interest. The three main scholarly editions of the Latin New Testament (the Vetus Latina edition, the Stuttgart Vulgate, and the Oxford Vulgate) are described in detail. Information is also given about other editions and resources, enabling researchers to understand the significance of different approaches and become aware of the latest developments. The Catalogue of Manuscripts gives full details of each manuscript used in the major editions, with bibliographical references and links to sets of digital images. The Appendices include concordances for the different ways in which manuscripts are cited in scholarly literature. An extensive reference bibliography of publications on the Latin New Testament is also supplied.
