Book Standards for Testing Magnetic Permeameters Classic Reprint

Download or read book Standards for Testing Magnetic Permeameters Classic Reprint written by Raymond L. Sanford and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-28 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Standards for Testing Magnetic Permeameters In View of the present importance of magnetic testing, and'the desirability of establishing the accuracy of various magnetic per meameters nowin use, an investigation has been carried out on magnetic standards. It is not always possible to estimate the accuracy of a given magnetic testing method from purely theoretical considerations. The testing of magnetic permeameters is greatly facilitated, therefore, by the use of carefully chosen specimens calibrated by a standard testing method. Such specimens may properly be considered as mag netic standards. In the course of the investigation the princip al points considered were the choice of the standard testing method and the requirements which test specimens must fulfill in order to serve satisfactorily as magnetic standards. The Burrows compensated double - yolk permeameter, which has long been accepted as standard in the United States, fulfills the necessary requirements that its constants can be determined from its own dimensions and its accuracy can be estimated without reference to any other test method. N one of the other methods considered appear to have any advantage over the Burrows permeameter and consequently it was adopted for the calibration of our standards. This book was released on 2017-09-16 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Testing of Electro-Magnetic Machinery and Other Apparatus, Vol. 2 Some criticism has been made that the employment of the para graph Data tends to coddle the student. The experience of the authors is that engineering students are men, well beyond the coddling age in matters of this kind, and that the saving in time and unnecessary repetition of experiments which this paragraph effects is fully justified. Book Errors in Magnetic Testing with Ring Specimens Classic Reprint

Download or read book Errors in Magnetic Testing with Ring Specimens Classic Reprint written by Morton G. Lloyd and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Errors in Magnetic Testing With Ring Specimens In determining the hysteresis of a ring specimen, two methods are available. The one is to determine corresponding values of H0 and Bo, plat a curve between them, and measure the area of this curve. This method involves the same errors as the determination of permeability. The other method is to measure the electrical energy supplied to the ring and at the same time Bo. Alternating currents are usually used for this purpose, and this requires the determination of the form factor of the induced electromotive force in order to know the maximum value attained by Bo.6 Secondly, eddy currents are induced in the specimen, but if not large can be approximately determined and separated by measurements at two frequencies. Moreover, on account of the nonuniform distribution of the flux in the section of the ring, the power expended is not the same as it would be if the distribution were uniform. This is owing to the fact that the energy per cycle is not proportional to the flux density B, but to some power of it, approximately 32 for eddy cur rents and bl6 for hysteresis. Here, again, the average value of B) is not the same as the 1.6th power of the average B. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Electric and Magnetic Measurements and Measuring Instruments Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electric and Magnetic Measurements and Measuring Instruments Classic Reprint written by Frank W. Roller and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-15 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electric and Magnetic Measurements and Measuring Instruments The following volume has been written for the use of those who have to do with electrical and magnetic measurements in one form or another, and as these must be made in practically all branches of the profession, from the simple testing out of lines and resistances to the most elaborate determination of designs, it is hoped that its Sphere of usefulness will be quite large. The subjects have, throughout, been approached with a View toward their use by users, not manufacturers, of measuring apparatus, that is to say the book is in no sense intended as a treatise on the design and construction of instruments, the circle interested being decidedly limited. Descriptions are, however, given of apparatus as well as of methods of test, because knowl edge of the manner in which a principle is utilized in concrete instruments often suggests, to one having a determination to make but is at the same time without the particular form of appliance ordinarily employed for that purpose, means of adap ing thereto some other device which is at hand. Further, in illustrating examples of instruments for different kinds of work, there has been in mind the idea that these will enable engineers to decide, with the aid of their general engineering knowledge, which are the best suited to their particular requirements. Book Correlation of the Magnetic and Mechanical Properties of Steel Classic Reprint

Download or read book Correlation of the Magnetic and Mechanical Properties of Steel Classic Reprint written by Charles W. Burrows and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-25 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Correlation of the Magnetic and Mechanical Properties of Steel A second important phase 'of this subject is the variation in magnetic behavior as the test piece is subjected to the influence of stress. The correlation here is so close that the strains set up in a stressed bar are accompanied by simultaneous variations in the magnetic behavior which change in character as the magnitude of the strain with respect to the elastic limit changes. Finally, mechanical inhomogeneities of whatever origin are mirrored by corresponding magnetic inhomogeneities. A mag netic test may therefore be of assistance in detecting flaws in material where the vital characteristic is reliability. This book was released on 2018-03-28 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bureau of Standards Journal of Research, Vol. 6: March, 1931 The advent and increasing use of cobalt magnet steels requiring the application of relatively intense fields for magnetization has led to the development of a number of commercial permeameters for mag netic testing with high magnetizing forces. For the standardization of these instruments a method is required whose accuracy can be determined without reference to tests by any other method. An adaptation of the well-known isthmus method is described, which, under proper conditions, gives an accuracy well within the allowable experimental error and which can be made to accommodate specimens of various shapes and Sizes. A criterion by which to determine whether or not the proper conditions for accuracy are obtained is given. Attention is called to the importance of magnetic uniformity in bars to be used as magnetic standards, which must be taken into account in measurements with high magnetizing forces no less than in measurements in the lower ranges.
