One special memory I have of Grandmother was when I would go into the busy kitchen and ask what they were cooking, she would answer, "layovers to catch meddlers". That was her sense of humor. Baking seemed to be the specialty of the Hart family. I think all of us have enough recipes to make separate cookbooks from our mom's recipes. Here are Grandmother Hart's recipes written in her own handwriting. I must comment here that each day as I looked at, read and scanned her recipes, I was struck by the sweet aroma of spices of all kinds that had soaked into the paper, straight from her kitchen.
