Download or read book All We Want is the Earth written by Patrick Bresnihan and published by Policy Press. This book was released on 2023-07-27 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sixty years ago, an upsurge of social movements protested the ecological harms of industrial capitalism. In subsequent decades, environmentalism consolidated into forms of management and business strategy that aimed to tackle ecological degradation while enabling new forms of green economic growth. However, the focus on spaces and species to be protected saw questions of human work and histories of colonialism pushed out of view. This book traces a counter-history of modern environmentalism from the 1960s to the present day. It focuses on claims concerning land, labour and social reproduction arising at important moments in the history of environmentalism made by feminist, anti-colonial, Indigenous, workers’ and agrarian movements. Many of these movements did not consider themselves ‘environmental,’ and yet they offer vital ways forward in the face of escalating ecological damage and social injustice.
Download or read book Firmament12 written by King Ram and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-02-25 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is named from heavens to earth, written directly from my hands, of course, in the explanation from the beginning how my life has been unfolded and conducted under the hardness of my creator and the discovery at the end of time that Mother Earth is the producer of all that we can observe and that Celestial King is created under this sanctity and is set to govern all that it creates. In this way, Craon God continues to create, and at the same time, Mother Earth also produces. This is that we cannot understand the psychology to which we are placed, but we must understand that we must kneel down to God and to Mother Earth because even God kneels down himself. Celestially, there is this high force that cannot be destroyed, but we must obey him as we are taught by our only begotten God and do not doubt that our forces will not decay in silence but in a force that is not invented. I am declaring it today, and with the presence of my paintings in this second book called Firmament12, I will explain that everything has been studied by me since the beginning of my life, focusing my studies on everything I have been able to observe and posing from time to time to let them know my face. It is something I can leave to be recognized in time, and that my presence is legitimate today and that my offspring is also presented in this book, descendant Maya. Of course, this is the race that God has chosen from the beginning. I know you cannot understand, but I leave you with this thinking with my stay here on Earth. (I am the son of man) from the land of the Holy Spirit. Of course, humanity does not understand why they say that God acts in a mysterious way. It is clear that Mother Earth is in charge of creating everything that pleases her, and she gives them to the only begotten saint to govern it. It’s that in this form they (homosexuals and lesbians) are created under this divine order. For that reason, the Holy begotten King has had to provide a perfect plan so that all the creations are modified with a holy and celestial order, which is his last covenant, and he declares it in Jeremiah 31:33–34. With this perfect plan, it is pleasing to our Mother Earth. Note that the heart has no gender.
Download or read book The Cry of Mother Earth written by Ecosocialist Horizons and published by PM Press. This book was released on 2023-03-21 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Cry of Mother Earth: Plan of Action of the Ecosocialist International recognizes and records the history and the future of the world’s first Ecosocialist International, a chorus of grief and praise for Mother Earth, and a planetary program of revolutionary action in defense of free life. It combines two historic documents, written in a collective process of loving exchange and hope, in a land that knows liberation, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The first is an invitation—an urgent summons to come together and draft a plan of action for the salvation of ourselves and the planet. It is a wish—a seed. The second is the fruit of that seed written a year later, over the course of four days with the words of over 100 delegates from five continents. It is a compass and a cradle, a map and a manifesto, for a global revolution—a return to a way of life in unity with nature.
Download or read book Mother Nature written by Emilia Pardo Bazn and published by Bucknell University Press. This book was released on 2010 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mother Nature is certainly Emilia Pardo Bazan's greatest contribution to the Realistic/ Naturalistic Spanish novel of her time, and represents her literary powers at the very height of her career as a writer. It has been said that this novel presents the keenest challenges and the most compelling rewards, offering the reader the purposefully overgrown ecological, social, and moral background for a poignant central narrative of human frailty that pits the desire for personal happiness against the necessity of meeting moral standards.

Download or read book The Rights of Nature and the Testimony of Things written by Mark Anderson and published by Vanderbilt University Press. This book was released on 2024-07-15 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Rights of Nature and the Testimony of Things begins by analyzing the ethical debates and political contexts relating to Latin American “rights of nature” legislation and the political ontology of nonhuman speech within a framework of intercultural and multispecies diplomacy. Author Mark Anderson shows how Latin American authors and thinkers complicate traditional humanistic perspectives on nature, the social, and politics, exploring how animals, plants, and environments as a whole might be said to engage in social relations and political speech or self-representation. Drawing Native Amazonian thought into productive tension with a variety of posthumanist theoretical frameworks—ranging from Derrida’s conceptualization of passive decision and hospitality to biosemiotics, Karen Barad’s theorization of intra-activity, and Isabelle Stengers’ proposal for cosmopolitical diplomacy—Anderson analyzes literary works by Julio Cortázar, Clarice Lispector, José Eustasio Rivera, and Davi Kopenawa that reframe environmental ethics in terms of collective, multispecies work and reciprocal care and politics as a cosmopolitics of friendship rooted in diplomacy across difference. Finally, Anderson examines the points of connection and divergences between Latin American relational ontologies and Euro American posthumanist theories within Indigenous Latin American remodernization projects that reappropriate and repurpose ancestral practices as well as develop new technologies with the goal of forging alternative modernities compatible with a livable future for all species.

Download or read book Latinas Crossing Borders and Building Communities in Greater Washington written by Raúl Sánchez Molina and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2016-04-04 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After crossing several borders, Latina/o immigrants and their children meet challenges of globalization as they acclimate to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Facing different social and cultural barriers while adapting to this metropolis, most of them meet these challenges by building transnational bridges that connect societies and cultures. These circumstances have offered opportunities for anthropologists and other scholars to work together with community residents in activities that have contributed to cultural knowledge and action. Latinas Crossing Borders and Building Communities in Greater Washington: Applying Anthropology in Multicultural Neighborhoods addresses how Latina/o immigrants use a variety of strategies to meet adaptation challenges. Drawing on ethnographic research and practices, contributors highlight how Latinas and Latinos are building community while reshaping ethnic, gender, and generational identities. They focus on models of collaboration and interaction in community centers, healthcare, the labor market, education, and faith-based communities.
