Book excerpt: Le sujet de cette thèse concerne l'identification des paramètres physiques pour des systèmes non-linéaires dans différents contextes d'étude de l'automatique. Dans un premier temps, nous nous sommes intéressés à l'estimation des états du système étudié ainsi qu'à l'identification de ses paramètres physiques en vue d'une connaissance en temps réel du comportement global du système. Nous avons proposé deux approches différentes qui sont basées respectivement sur une loi d'estimation algébrique convergeant en temps fini et sur une loi dynamique convergeant quant à elle de manière exponentielle sous condition de Persistence d'Excitation. Toutes deux sont robustes par rapport aux incertitudes paramétriques grâce à l'utilisation de la théorie de la Structure Variable. Dans un deuxième temps, nous avons introduit une loi de commande (à retour d'états) dynamique et robuste par rapport aux incertitudes paramétriques variant dans le temps, combinée avec une identification paramétrique. La robustesse est prouvée mathématiquement en considérant des propriétés spécifiques à la Structure Variable. Une comparaison de la méthode proposée avec d'autres méthodes issues de la littérature est présentée. Dans un souci d'applications industrielles et de réduction du nombre de capteurs mis en jeu, nous avons étendu la commande à retour d'états à une commande à retour de sortie en se basant sur des arguments de type backstepping, tout en conservant des propriétés de robustesse. Finalement, nous avons abordé le problème de l'identification pour des systèmes pour lesquels les paramètres entrent non-linéairement au sein des équations décrivant le modèle. Nous avons proposé une méthode d'identification valable localement dans l'espace des paramètres et convergeant exponentiellement sous condition de Persistence d'Excitation. Cette loi d'estimation est couplée à une commande adaptative basée sur la théorie de la Structure Variable.

Dans chaque classe, deux cas différents sont distingués : le premier cas suppose que tous les ordres de dérivation non entiers sont connus a priori et seuls les coefficients de l'équation différentielle non entière sont estimés en utilisant les estimateurs fondés sur les statistiques d'ordre supérieur. Le deuxième cas suppose que les ordres de dérivation sont commensurables à un ordre nu estimé au même titre que les coefficients de l'équation différentielle non entière par des techniques d'optimisation non linéaire combinées aux estimateurs fondés sur les cumulants d'ordre trois et quatre. Des exemples de simulation numérique illustrent les développements théoriques. Des applications pratiques sur la modélisation du phénomène de diffusion de chaleur dans un barreau d'Aluminium et sur la modélisation d'un système électronique ont montré la pertinence des méthodes développées.

En faisant référence à un processus (système entraîné par un moteur pas à pas), nous avons élaboré, en s'appuyant sur les équations décrivant son fonctionnement, une représentation dans l'espace d'état permettant de définir ses grandeurs d'entrées, de sorties ainsi que de son état. Cette description nous conduisant à un modèle fortement non linéaire, nous déterminons, à partir d'hypothèses simplificatrices faites sur les non linéarités du système, un modèle linéarise. En s'appuyant sur cette nouvelle représentation, nous avons élaboré des méthodes d'identification, basées sur la réponse du processus pour une consigne d'entrée donnée. Elles consistent, à partir d'informations reçues sur le système, à choisir des points particuliers dont les caractéristiques conduisent de façon rapide et précise à la connaissance des paramètres du modèle linéarisé. Les algorithmes d'identification étant très sensibles aux bruits, nous déterminons une méthode de filtrage nécessaire à l'élimination de ces parasites après avoir présenté auparavant le dispositif nécessaire à l'obtention et à la mémorisation des informations recueillies sur le processus. Ensuite, nous sélectionnons, en fonction du filtre choisi, l'algorithme d'identification le mieux adapté à la détermination des paramètres du modèle décrivant l'actionneur.

Néanmoins, la plupart de ces résultats utilise les méthodes de la famille des méthodes à erreur de prédiction, basées sur la minimisation de la norme l2 de l'erreur d'estimation. Apparues en 1996, les méthodes des sous-espaces sont relativement nouvelles dans la théorie de l'identification de systèmes linéaires. Basées sur des projections géométriques et l'algèbre linéaire, elles présentent une alternative intéressante aux méthodes classiques basées sur la régression linéaire ou non linéaire. Elles permettent d'estimer les matrices d'un modèle à base d'une représentation d'état. Dans le contexte des systèmes non entiers, la notion de pseudo-représentation d'état généralise la notion de représentation d'état en introduisant un paramètre supplémentaire qui est l'ordre commensurable.Actuellement, la méthode des sous-espaces pour des systèmes non entiers n'a cependant été appliquée que dans le domaine temporel. Elle est alors développée dans cette thèse pour une telle classe de systèmes dans le domaine fréquentiel. De plus, comme les systèmes non entiers sont des systèmes à temps continu, un filtrage des données est nécessaire pour respecter la causalité des signaux et pour pouvoir réaliser l'identification. Une étude comparative des différentes méthodes de filtrage dans le contexte de l'identification pour déduire leurs avantages et inconvénients est réalisée dans le domaine temporel. Enfin,les méthodes développées ont été appliquées à un système réel en diffusion thermique.Les modèles obtenus sont généralisés à des matériaux soumis à plusieurs flux de chaleur en entrée tout en considérant leur température en plusieurs points de mesures.

Book excerpt: The generalized area of multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) can be defined as the body of methods and procedures by which the concern for multiple conflicting criteria can be formally incorporated into the analytical process. MCDM consists mostly of two branches, multiple criteria optimization and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA). While MCDA is typically concerned with multiple criteria problems that have a small number of alternatives often in an environment of uncertainty (location of an airport, type of drug rehabilitation program), multiple criteria optimization is typically directed at problems formulated within a mathematical programming framework, but with a stack of objectives instead of just one (river basin management, engineering component design, product distribution). It is about the most modern treatment of multiple criteria optimization that this book is concerned. I look at this book as a nicely organized and well-rounded presentation of what I view as ”new wave” topics in multiple criteria optimization. Looking back to the origins of MCDM, most people agree that it was not until about the early 1970s that multiple criteria optimization c- gealed as a field. At this time, and for about the following fifteen years, the focus was on theories of multiple objective linear programming that subsume conventional (single criterion) linear programming, algorithms for characterizing the efficient set, theoretical vector-maximum dev- opments, and interactive procedures.

Its title accurately reflects the domains to which Yvonne Choquet-Bruhat has made essential contributions. Since the rise of General Relativity, the geometry of Manifolds has become a non-trivial part of space-time physics. At the same time, Functional Analysis has been of enormous importance in Quantum Mechanics, and Quantum Field Theory. Its role becomes decisive when one considers the global behaviour of solutions of differential systems on manifolds. In this sense, General Relativity is an exceptional theory in which the solutions of a highly non-linear system of partial differential equations define by themselves the very manifold on which they are supposed to exist. This is why a solution of Einstein's equations cannot be physically interpreted before its global behaviour is known, taking into account the entire hypothetical underlying manifold. In her youth, Yvonne Choquet-Bruhat contributed in a spectacular way to this domain stretching between physics and mathematics, when she gave the proof of the existence of solutions to Einstein's equations on differential manifolds of a quite general type. The methods she created have been worked out by the French school of mathematics, principally by Jean Leray. Her first proof of the local existence and uniqueness of solutions of Einstein's equations inspired Jean Leray's theory of general hyperbolic systems.
