Book Asymptotic Modelling of Fluid Flow Phenomena

Download or read book Asymptotic Modelling of Fluid Flow Phenomena written by Radyadour Kh. Zeytounian and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-10 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: for the fluctuations around the means but rather fluctuations, and appearing in the following incompressible system of equations: on any wall; at initial time, and are assumed known. This contribution arose from discussion with J. P. Guiraud on attempts to push forward our last co-signed paper (1986) and the main idea is to put a stochastic structure on fluctuations and to identify the large eddies with a part of the probability space. The Reynolds stresses are derived from a kind of Monte-Carlo process on equations for fluctuations. Those are themselves modelled against a technique, using the Guiraud and Zeytounian (1986). The scheme consists in a set of like equations, considered as random, because they mimic the large eddy fluctuations. The Reynolds stresses are got from stochastic averaging over a family of their solutions. Asymptotics underlies the scheme, but in a rather loose hidden way. We explain this in relation with homogenizati- localization processes (described within the §3. 4 ofChapter 3). Ofcourse the mathematical well posedness of the scheme is not known and the numerics would be formidable! Whether this attempt will inspire researchers in the field of highly complex turbulent flows is not foreseeable and we have hope that the idea will prove useful.

Book APPROXIMATION NUMERIQUE PAR METHODE PARTICULES MAILLAGE DES EQUATIONS D EULER COMPRESSIBLES

Download or read book APPROXIMATION NUMERIQUE PAR METHODE PARTICULES MAILLAGE DES EQUATIONS D EULER COMPRESSIBLES written by MOHAMMED.. LOUAKED and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LA METHODE P.I.C. (PARTICLE IN CELL), A ETE INTRODUITE DANS L'ETUDE DES ECOULEMENTS DE FLUIDES INCOMPRESSIBLES REGIS PAR LES EQUATIONS D'EULER. CES EQUATIONS EN FORMULATION (,) S'ECRIVENT: =, U=*, /T+U.*=0 OU EST LE POTENTIEL DE LA VITESSE U ET LE TOURBILLON. LA METHODE P.I.C. CONSISTE ALORS EN UNE DISCRETISATION DU TOURBILLON EN ELEMENTS TOURBILLONNAIRES QUI SONT TRANSPORTES PAR LE FLOT EN SUIVANT LES COURBES CARACTERISTIQUES DU CHAMP DE VITESSE. CE TRAVAIL EST UNE EXTENSION DE LA METHODE P.I.C. AU CAS D'UN FLUIDE COMPRESSIBLE PARFAIT (ECOULEMENT NON NECESSAIREMENT POTENTIEL). DANS CE CAS, LA DECOMPOSITION DE HELMHOLTZ DE LA VITESSE PERMET D'ECRIRE LES EQUATIONS D'EULER SOUS LA FORME: /T+*.(*+))=0 (I), /T+*.((*+))=0 (II), *.=0 (III), *= (IV), /T+1/2|+*|#2+/1###1=Q (V), Q=#2+*(+*) (VI). LA VITESSE A ETE DECOMPOSEE EN SA PARTIE POTENTIELLE COMPRESSIBLE * ET SA PARTIE ROTATIONNELLE INCOMPRESSIBLE . LA METHODE NUMERIQUE TRANSPORTE LES QUANTITES REELLEMENT CONVECTEES PAR LE FLUIDE, LES EQUATIONS (I)-(II) SONT TRAITEES PAR UNE METHODE PARTICULAIRE ET LES EQUATIONS (III)-(VI) SONT RESOLUES PAR METHODE DE DIFFERENCES FINIES. UN SOLVEUR DE HOCKNEY SERVIRA A LA RESOLUTION DES EQUATIONS DE POISSON (III)-(IV) ET (VI). UN DEVELOPPEMENT DE L'EQUATION (V) PERMET DE LA REECRIRE SOUS LA FORME: /T+H(*)+.*=F OU H EST UN HAMILTONIEN. LE POTENTIEL VERIFIE ALORS UNE EQUATION DE TYPE HAMILTON-JACOBI, ASSOCIEE A UNE PARTIE CONVECTIVE .*. SOUS CETTE FORMULATION, LA DISCRETISATION DE L'EQUATION DU POTENTIEL SE FAIT PAR UN SCHEMA DE TYPE E.N.O. (ESSENTIALLY NON OSCILLATORY SCHEME) POUR LES EQUATIONS DE HAMILTON-JACOBI, INTRODUIT PAR OSHER-SETHIAN POUR LA RESOLUTION DES EQUATIONS DE COURBURES. LE PASSAGE DES VALEURS PARTICULAIRES A DES VALEURS SUR LA GRILLE EST ASSURE PAR UN OPERATEUR DE PROJECTION INTRODUIT PAR BRACKBILL-RUPPEL. L'OPERATEUR GRILLE-PARTICULES EST UN OPERATEUR D'INTERPOLATION QUI REPOSE SUR L'INTRODUCTION D'UNE FONCTION CUT-OFF

This book was released on 1992 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Basics of Fluid Mechanics and Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics

Download or read book Basics of Fluid Mechanics and Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics written by Titus Petrila and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-06-14 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book – through the topics and the problems approach – aims at filling a gap, a real need in our literature concerning CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). Our presentation results from a large documentation and focuses on reviewing the present day most important numerical and computational methods in CFD. Many theoreticians and experts in the field have expressed their - terest in and need for such an enterprise. This was the motivation for carrying out our study and writing this book. It contains an important systematic collection of numerical working instruments in Fluid Dyn- ics. Our current approach to CFD started ten years ago when the Univ- sity of Paris XI suggested a collaboration in the field of spectral methods for fluid dynamics. Soon after – preeminently studying the numerical approaches to Navier–Stokes nonlinearities – we completed a number of research projects which we presented at the most important inter- tional conferences in the field, to gratifying appreciation. An important qualitative step in our work was provided by the dev- opment of a computational basis and by access to a number of expert softwares. This fact allowed us to generate effective working programs for most of the problems and examples presented in the book, an - pect which was not taken into account in most similar studies that have already appeared all over the world.

Download or read book Flowing Matter written by Federico Toschi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-09-25 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book, published in the Soft and Biological Matter series, presents an introduction to selected research topics in the broad field of flowing matter, including the dynamics of fluids with a complex internal structure -from nematic fluids to soft glasses- as well as active matter and turbulent phenomena. Flowing matter is a subject at the crossroads between physics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, biology and earth sciences, and relies on a multidisciplinary approach to describe the emergence of the macroscopic behaviours in a system from the coordinated dynamics of its microscopic constituents. Depending on the microscopic interactions, an assembly of molecules or of mesoscopic particles can flow like a simple Newtonian fluid, deform elastically like a solid or behave in a complex manner. When the internal constituents are active, as for biological entities, one generally observes complex large-scale collective motions. Phenomenology is further complicated by the invariable tendency of fluids to display chaos at the large scales or when stirred strongly enough. This volume presents several research topics that address these phenomena encompassing the traditional micro-, meso-, and macro-scales descriptions, and contributes to our understanding of the fundamentals of flowing matter. This book is the legacy of the COST Action MP1305 “Flowing Matter”.

Book Vortex Flows and Related Numerical Methods

Download or read book Vortex Flows and Related Numerical Methods written by J.T. Beale and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-18 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many important phenomena in fluid motion are evident in vortex flow, i.e., flows in which vortical structures are significant in determining the whole flow. This book, which consists of lectures given at a NATO ARW held in Grenoble (France) in June 1992, provides an up-to-date account of current research in the study of these phenomena by means of numerical methods and mathematical modelling. Such methods include Eulerian methods (finite difference, spectral and wavelet methods) as well as Lagrangian methods (contour dynamics, vortex methods) and are used to study such topics as 2- or 3-dimensional turbulence, vorticity generation by solid bodies, shear layers and vortex sheets, and vortex reconnection. For researchers and graduate students in computational fluid dynamics, numerical analysis, and applied mathematics.

Download or read book New Directions in Mathematical Fluid Mechanics written by Andrei V. Fursikov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-01-11 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On November 3, 2005, Alexander Vasil’evich Kazhikhov left this world, untimely and unexpectedly. He was one of the most in?uential mathematicians in the mechanics of ?uids, and will be remembered for his outstanding results that had, and still have, a c- siderablysigni?cantin?uenceinthe?eld.Amonghis manyachievements, werecall that he was the founder of the modern mathematical theory of the Navier-Stokes equations describing one- and two-dimensional motions of a viscous, compressible and heat-conducting gas. A brief account of Professor Kazhikhov’s contributions to science is provided in the following article “Scienti?c portrait of Alexander Vasil’evich Kazhikhov”. This volume is meant to be an expression of high regard to his memory, from most of his friends and his colleagues. In particular, it collects a selection of papers that represent the latest progress in a number of new important directions of Mathematical Physics, mainly of Mathematical Fluid Mechanics. These papers are written by world renowned specialists. Most of them were friends, students or colleagues of Professor Kazhikhov, who either worked with him directly, or met him many times in o?cial scienti?c meetings, where they had the opportunity of discussing problems of common interest.
