Book excerpt: Grief Matters is a powerfully written primer on understanding the body-mind-spirit construct of handling grief. It teaches the reader to define grief in its various forms, educates the reader on how grief moves through the body, teaches them coping skills to move through the process of grief and teaches the reader to be able to acknowledge and understand the symptoms of grief. Identifying what symptoms you are feeling is critical to the healing process. Clearly there exist different forms of grief: a divorce will be different than a death of a loved one; the loss of a job will be different than losing a pet; and children grieve differently than adults. Learning to make grief your friend and not your enemy is an important part of the healing process. Popular chapters on the Identifying Symptoms of Grief, Loss of Loved Ones, Children's Grief Processes, The Loss of Your Pet, Visitors from the Other Side are considered some of the best work written on the Grief Process!

This book was released on 2008 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In this state-of-the-art volume, leading international scholars and clinicians provide a comprehensive and cross-disciplinary overview of how rigorous research on bereavement translates into practice. They identify new developments and controversies in the field, relating new theories to concepts from attachment theory and emotion theory. The effects of societal change and of national and international events on personal and public mourning are examined along with other areas of interest to practitioners, such as grief and disaster, posttraumatic growth, and cultural competence in helping diverse clients cope with grief and bereavement. New analyses use longitudinal data sets to trace patterns of adjustment, trajectories of grieving over time, and the use of coping resources. The contributors also explore emerging research on the consequences of losing a loved one, "disenfranchised" grieving, continuing bonds, and other critical areas. Researchers and practitioners will find much to enrich and deepen their work in this thought-provoking volume"--Cover. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved).

Book Tell Me Who I Am

    Book Details:
  • Author : Julia Navarro
  • Publisher : PLAZA & JANÉS
  • Release : 2014-02-13
  • ISBN : 8401343062
  • Pages : 964 pages

Download or read book Tell Me Who I Am written by Julia Navarro and published by PLAZA & JANÉS. This book was released on 2014-02-13 with total page 964 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A journalist receives a proposal to investigate the eventful life of his great-grandmother, about whom all that is known is that she fled Spain, abandoning her husband and child, shortly before the Civil War broke out. The memoir of an entire century, this novel adds a new, original chapter to Julia Navarro's best-selling career. Tell Me Who I Am surprises and enchants with a captivating and heartrending story. This is a novel about memory and identity with an exceptionallywell-drawn and unforgettable literary character: a woman who throughout her extraordinary life was able to achieve the highly difficult feat of knowing herself. A victim of her mistakes, aware of her guilt, frightened by her traumas, she is above all an anti-heroine, a flesh-and-blood woman who always acts according to her principles, facing up to every challenge and making errors for which she will never fully pay. A woman who decided that she couldn't be neutral in this life. Navarro's most personal novel surprises for its melodrama and the raw emotions transmitted by many of its stories. It is filled with pure adventure, introspection and political chronicle. From the tumultuous years of the Second Spanish Republic to the fall of the Berlin Wall, including World War II and the Cold War, these pages are packed with intrigue, emotion, politics, espionage, love, betrayal and settings like Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Buenos Aires, Mexico, Moscow, London, Berlin and Warsaw with brief stopovers in The Basque Country, Cairo, Athens, Lisbon and New York.
