Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LES FEMMES SUBISSENT DES VIOLENCES AU SEIN DESQUELLES LE VIOL TIENT UNE PLACE PARTICULIERE. LE SUICIDE EST UNE REPONSE A CETTE VIOLENCE. LA FOLIE DE LA FOULE EST UN SIGNE DE L'IMPORTANCE DU PHENOMENE. DEPUIS LE MOYEN-AGE, MALGRE LES RUPTURES DE LA RENAISSANCE ET DE LA REVOLUTION, LA DENOMINATION LEGALE DE L'HOMME S'EXERCE JUSQU'A NOS JOURS SUR LA FEMME. DES ENFANTS SONT BATTUS, ABUSES, DANS TOUS LES PAYS, DANS TOUS LES MILIEUX, DANS LA FAMILLE, A L'ECOLE. POUR QUE L'ENFANT SOIT RESPECTE, IL FAUT AFFIRMER QU'IL EST UNE PERSONNE, SUJET DE DROIT. DE NOMBREUX ETATS ONT RATIFIE LA DECLARATION DES DROITS DE L'ENFANT (CEUX-CI EMERGEANT A PARTIR DU DIX-NEUVIEME SIECLE GRACE A UN ARSENAL JURIDIQUE QUI TEND A LUI DONNER LA PAROLE EN TANT QU'INDIVIDU). L'ETUDE DE LA SOCIETE CANAQUE DE FORME TRIBALE PERMET D'OBSERVER D'UN REGARD DIFFERENT LE PROBLEME DE LA VIOLENCE VIS-A-VIS DES FEMMES ET DES ENFANTS. LA PRESSION DU CLAN REDUIT L'AUTONOMIE DE L'INDIVIDU. LE PASSAGE A LA RELIGION CHRETIENNE A PEU CHANGE LES COMPORTEMENTS A SAVOIR : "L'INDIVIDU EN TANT QUE TEL N'EXISTE PAS". VIOLENCES INTIME ET SOCIALE ONT LONGTEMPS ETE LA REGLE POUR LA FEMME COMME POUR L'ENFANT. L'EVOLUTION VERS UN DROIT DE LA FEMME ET DE L'ENFANT EST RECENTE ET INEGALE. CET ETAT DE FAIT N'EST PAS SATISFAISANT ET POSE UN CERTAIN NOMBRE DE QUESTIONS.

Book Suppl ment au voyage de Bougainville

Download or read book Suppl ment au voyage de Bougainville written by Denis Diderot and published by BoD - Books on Demand. This book was released on 2023-11-05 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Self as Other in Minority American Life Writing

Download or read book The Self as Other in Minority American Life Writing written by Nelly Mok and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2019-03-22 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hinting at Rimbaud’s provocative dictum that “I is an other,” this anthology discusses a wide-ranging array of twentieth-century and contemporary minority American modes of life writing, prompted by the following questions: Who (else) hides behind this “I” that the author-narrator-character “contractually” claims to be? What generic, aesthetic, political and socio-cultural issues are at stake in a conception of the self as other? The essays analyze autobiographical works from major Native American writers (John Milton Oskison and Louise Erdrich), an African American music-hall artist (Josephine Baker) and writers (John Edgar Wideman and Ta-Nehisi Coates), Caribbean American writers (Jamaica Kincaid and Edwidge Danticat), and Asian American writers (Ruth Ozeki, Cathy Park Hong, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, and Loung Ung). They shed light on autobiography as a collaborative writing and reading practice, rather than as a self-oriented genre, probing the “relational” dimension of life writing. Building on the feminist theorization of relationality and the political and aesthetic power of relational bonds, they put forward the necessarily intersubjective dynamics of minority American “self-conceptions” which originate in the writers’ experiences of otherness. The articles highlight that the relational ethnic self characteristically inhabits the liminal spaces where modes of life writing overlap and can thrive in dialogical intertextual readings. They foreground the subversive, cathartic, and memorializing potential of minority American modes of “other-writing” whose ontological dimension is manifest in the writers’ quest for a sense of repossession and agency, beyond communal boundaries. Contributing to the up-to-date critical discussion on relationality, not as a genre, but rather as a reading and “a storytelling practice,” they examine the ways it participates in a global, transcultural approach to ethno-racial issues in the United States.

Book excerpt: Political, economic and social barriers among Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada are giving way to global forces and the "global dreams" they inspire. This collection of original articles and essays examines popular culture, literature, theatre, belief systems, indigenous practices and questions of identity, exile and alienation. The interconnectedness and distinction of cultural production throughout the Americas, "transplanted" interests, the mediation of African and European influences, and the expression of shifting identities, all reflect the development of a new American neighbourhood.

Book Addressing Gender Based Violence in the Latin American and Caribbean Region

Download or read book Addressing Gender Based Violence in the Latin American and Caribbean Region written by Andrew Morrison and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors present an overview of gender-based violence (GBV) in Latin America, with special emphasis on good practice interventions to prevent GBV or offer services to its survivors or perpetrators. Intimate partner violence and sexual coercion are the most common forms of GBV, and these are the types of GBV that they analyze. GBV has serious consequences for women's health and well-being, ranging from fatal outcomes, such as homicide, suicide, and AIDS-related deaths, to nonfatal outcomes, such as physical injuries, chronic pain syndrome, gastrointestinal disorders, complications during pregnancy, miscarriage, and low birth-weight of children. GBV also poses significant costs for the economies of developing countries, including lower worker productivity and incomes, and lower rates of accumulation of human and social capital. The authors examine good practice approaches in justice, health, education, and multisectoral approaches. In each sector, they identify good practices for: (1) law and policies; (2) institutional reforms; (3) community-level interventions; and (4) individual behavior change strategies.

This publication presents theoretical information, methods and resources for education and training activities, along with concrete exercises that users can put into practice in their daily work. Violence is a serious issue which directly affects the lives of many young people. It often results in lasting damage to their well-being and integrity, putting even their lives at risk. Gender-based violence, including violence against women, remains a key human rights challenge in contemporary Europe and in the world. Working with young people on human rights education is one way of preventing gender-based violence from occurring. By raising awareness on why and how it manifests and exploring its impact on people and in society, gender-based violence will no longer go undetected. Gender really does matter, to women, to men, to young people - to all of us. This manual serves to explore these human rights issues and act upon them."--Book jacket.

This book was released on 2018 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
