Book excerpt: Une approche statistique probabiliste du comportement mécanique des composites sic/c/sic, fondée sur les phénomènes stochastiques a l'origine de la rupture des fibres et de la matrice, a été développe. L'analyse a été effectuée sur des mini composites (fil brut sur lequel la matrice a été déposée) en raison de leur rôle prépondérant dans l'endommagement et la rupture de la structure composite. Dans un premier temps on a évalue les valeurs des caractéristiques statistiques de la rupture des fibres et de la matrice, a partir des essais de traction sur fibres unitaires, fils bruts et mini composites en fonction de divers paramètres tels que les populations de défauts, les variations de diamètre des fibres etc. Puis l'analyse du comportement mécanique en traction des fils bruts constitues de fibres sic, a mis en évidence un paramètre important, le pourcentage de ruptures préliminaires qui constitue le critère de rupture du fil brut. Enfin on a décrit la rupture du mini composite en les assimilant à des fils bruts soumis à un champ de contrainte spécifique induit par la fissuration intense de la matrice. Ce modèle a permis de calculer de manière satisfaisante les courbes de comportement. Par ailleurs, il a permis d'anticiper l'influence des propriétés des fibres et de la matrice et aussi de leur dispersion statistique sur le comportement mécanique et la rupture des composites

In the first, individual, analysis, acoustic signature of each damage mechanism is characterized. So with a clustering method, AE signals that have similar shapes or similar features can be group together into a cluster. Afterwards, each cluster can be linked with a main damage. The second analysis is based on a global AE analysis, on the investigation of liberated energy, with a view to identify a critical point. So beyond this characteristic point, the criticality can be modeled with a power-law in order to evaluate time to failure.
