Book Lunar and Interplanetary Trajectories

Download or read book Lunar and Interplanetary Trajectories written by Robin Biesbroek and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-01-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides readers with a clear description of the types of lunar and interplanetary trajectories, and how they influence satellite-system design. The description follows an engineering rather than a mathematical approach and includes many examples of lunar trajectories, based on real missions. It helps readers gain an understanding of the driving subsystems of interplanetary and lunar satellites. The tables and graphs showing features of trajectories make the book easy to understand.

Book Low Energy Lunar Trajectory Design

Download or read book Low Energy Lunar Trajectory Design written by Jeffrey S. Parker and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-06-25 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on years of research conducted at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Low-Energy Lunar Trajectory Design provides high-level information to mission managers and detailed information to mission designers about low-energy transfers between Earth and the moon. The book answers high-level questions about the availability and performance of such transfers in any given month and year. Low-energy lunar transfers are compared with various other types of transfers, and placed within the context of historical missions. Using this book, designers may reconstruct any transfer described therein, as well as design similar transfers with particular design parameters. An Appendix, “Locating the Lagrange Points,” and a useful list of terms and constants completes this technical reference. Surveys thousands of possible trajectories that may be used to transfer spacecraft between Earth and the moon, including transfers to lunar libration orbits, low lunar orbits, and the lunar surface Provides information about the methods, models, and tools used to design low-energy lunar transfers Includes discussion about the variations of these transfers from one month to the next, and the important operational aspects of implementing a low-energy lunar transfer Additional discussions address navigation, station-keeping, and spacecraft systems issues

Download or read book Lunar Trajectories written by Richard J. Weber and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A CATALOG OF COAST PATHS ETWEEN THE Earth and the Moon is presented, accounting for three-dimensional factors but neglecting multib dy effects. Flight times, velocity increments, and launch azimuths are given for various positions of the Moon and various injection points in the northern hemisphere. The distance c vered during powered flight is found to have an important effect on the mission energy requirements. The effect of flight-path angle at burnout is studied; nonhorizontal burnout is often advantageous. The effect of launching from an Earth orbit, rather than directly from the surface, is discussed. Because precession may cause an unfavorable orientation of the orbital plane, departure from a permanent space station is usually undesirable. T e velocity ired landing location. (Author).

Book Space Trajectories

Download or read book Space Trajectories written by The Technical Staff, Research Division, and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Space Trajectories covers the proceedings of a symposium sponsored by the American Astronautical Society, Advanced Research Projects Agency, and Radiation Incorporated, held on December 14-15, 1959. The book focuses on the field of trajectory analysis, including orbital and trajectory computations, tracking of satellites, and the use of computer programs in space missions. The selection first tackles satellite and probe orbit determination, general survey of the field, and astrodynamics, as well as theoretical, computational, and operational problems, application to lunar orbits, and contributions of satellite observations. The book then examines trajectory constants and trajectory computation and optimization. Discussions focus on the classical method of orbital computation, effect of uncertainty on interplanetary orbits, masses, diameter, and flattening of planets, and determination of the physical constants of the moon. The manuscript takes a look at trajectory computation and optimization, trajectory computation in systems design, and computer programs for space missions. Topics include simulation and targeting programs, satellite tracking methods, direct numerical integration, classical methods of orbital computation, and references on trajectory computation and optimization. Space-born computer design, space maneuvers, and re-entry trajectories and problems of hypersonic flow are also mentioned. The selection is a valuable source of data for astronauts and readers interested in space trajectories.
