Download or read book Nella terra dei sogni proibiti written by Antonio Il Grande and published by Meligrana Giuseppe Editore. This book was released on 2016-04-18 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Image Eye and Art in Calvino written by Birgitte Grundtvig and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few recent writers have been as interested in the cross-over between texts and visual art as Italo Calvino (1923-85). Involved for most of his life in the publishing industry, he took as much interest in the visual as in the textual aspects of his own and other writers' books. In this volume twenty international Calvino experts, including Barenghi, Battistini, Belpoliti, Hofstadter, Ricci, Scarpa and others, consider the many facets of the interplay between the visual and textual in Calvinos works, from the use of colours in his fiction to the influence of cartoons, from the graphic qualities of the book covers themselves to the significance of photography and landscape in his fiction and non-fiction. The volume is appropriately illustrated with images evoked by Calvino's major texts.

Download or read book Murder Made in Italy written by Ellen Nerenberg and published by Indiana University Press. This book was released on 2012-03-29 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Looking at media coverage of three very prominent murder cases, Murder Made in Italy explores the cultural issues raised by the murders and how they reflect developments in Italian civil society over the past 20 years. Providing detailed descriptions of each murder, investigation, and court case, Ellen Nerenberg addresses the perception of lawlessness in Italy, the country's geography of crime, and the generalized fear for public safety among the Italian population. Nerenberg examines the fictional and nonfictional representations of these crimes through the lenses of moral panic, media spectacle, true crime writing, and the abject body. The worldwide publicity given the recent case of Amanda Knox, the American student tried for murder in a Perugia court, once more drew attention to crime and punishment in Italy and is the subject of the epilogue.
Download or read book Pasolini s Lasting Impressions written by Ryan Calabretta-Sajder and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-07-07 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Noted as a ‘civil poet’ by Alberto Moravia, Pier Paolo Pasolini was a creative and philosophical genius whose works challenged generations of Western Europeans and Americans to reconsider not only issues regarding the self, but also various social concerns. Pasolini’s works touched and continues to inspire students, scholars, and intellectuals alike to question the status quo. This collection of thirteen articles and two interviews evidences the on-going discourse around Pasolini’s lasting impressions on the new generation. Pasolini’s Lasting Impressions: Death, Eros and Literary Enterprise in the Opus of Pier Paolo Pasolini thus explores the civic poet’s oeuvre in four parts: poetry, theatre, film, and culture. Although the collection does not include every genre in which Pasolini wrote, it addresses many, some which often receive little or no attention, particularly in Italian Studies of North America. The underlining theme of the book, ‘death, eros and literary enterprise’ intertwines these genres in a rather unique way, allowing for inter-disciplinary interpretations to Pasolini’s rich opus. The edited volume concludes with two artists, Dacia Maraini and Ominio71’s reflections on Pasolini in the 21st century. In fact, the cover represents a recent work on Ominio71 underscoring Pasolini’s visual presence still within the Roman walls. In conclusion, this collection demonstrates how his works still influence contemporary Italian society and motivate intellectual dialogue through new theoretical outlooks on Pasolini’s oeuvre.
Download or read book English for young learners from pre school to lower secondary written by Olivia Mair and published by Universitas Studiorum. This book was released on 2018-06-29 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays examines English language learning in formal education contexts from pre-school to lower secondary level. Focused on an in-service teacher education project that aimed to enhance the teaching of English in a group of schools, it takes into account the perspectives of multiple stakeholders – heads of school, teachers, parents and children. Its novelty lies in the variety of themes it covers, such as the account of a vertical implementation of a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) project at three school levels, teachers’ attitudes to using picturebooks in L2 settings, cultural differences in the presentation of content in textbooks, and the role of the native language assistant. “English for Young Learners” makes a valid contribution to research on a matter of crucial importance in Italian education in the 21st century, the improvement of the teaching and learning of English. It will be of interest to student teachers, educators, practitioners and researchers.

Download or read book Translation as Stylistic Evolution written by Federico M. Federici and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2009 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why did Italo Calvino decide to translate Les Fleurs bleues by Raymond Queneau? Was his translation just a way to pay a tribute to one of his models? This study looks at Calvino's translation from a literary and linguistic perspective: Calvino's I fiori blu is more than a rewriting and a creative translation, as it contributed to a revolution in his own literary language and style. Translating Queneau, Calvino discovered a new fictional voice and explored the potentialities of his native tongue, Italian. In fact Calvino's writings show a visible evolution of poetics and style that occurred rather abruptly in the mid 1960s; this sudden change has long been debated. The radical transformation of his style was affected by several factors: Calvino's new interests in linguistics, in translation theory, and in the act of translation. Translation as Stylistic Evolution analyses several passages in detail and scrutinizes quantitative data obtained by comparing digital versions of the original and Calvino's translation. The results of such assessment of Calvino's text-consistency suggest clear interpretations of the motives behind Calvino's radical and remarkable change of style that are tied to his notion of creative translation.

Download or read book Il Tenebroso Bosco dei Misteri written by Gustavo Giorgio Arnoldi and published by Self-Publish. This book was released on 2014-10-23 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
