Book Polymer Science Engineering e book

Download or read book Polymer Science Engineering e book written by Paul Painter and published by Paul Painter. This book was released on 2024-07-02 with total page 666 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This polymer science and engineering e-book was motivated by the outrageously high price of paper textbooks. It covers the usual topics – polymer synthesis, structure, properties and processing plus chapters on natural polymers and polymer matrix composites. It is meant to be read on a desktop or laptop computer, because the format is “fixed” rather than “re-flowable”, meaning that the text, figures, animations, etc., stay in a fixed position relative to one another, just like in a paper book. The book lives on the cloud and you can access it with a password on up to three of your own browsers. For more details check out the preview on Google Books.

Book Crosslinking effect on Physical Properties of Polymers

Download or read book Crosslinking effect on Physical Properties of Polymers written by Lawrence E. Nielsen and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review is made of the theoretical and experimental results of the effect of crosslinking on the physical properties of polymers. Both rubbers and rigid polymers are considered. Topics covered include: Types of network structures, methods of characterizing crosslinked polymers, swelling behavior, glass transitions, elastic moduli and dynamic mechanical properties, creep, stress-strain behavior, thermal properties, and anisotropic networks. The review is written from the practical viewpoint of the experimental scientist who is using crosslinked polymers but who is not an expert on the theory of crosslinking. Areas are pointed out where adequate scientific background information is lacking. (Author).

Book Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Filled Polymers

Download or read book Dynamic Mechanical Properties of Filled Polymers written by Lawrence E. Nielsen and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rigid fillers increase the dynamic elastic moduli and often the mechanical damping when incorporated into a polymer. In some cases, fillers also increase the temperature at which damping is a maximum, and the damping peak may be broadened. The effects of filler concentration, particle agglomeration, and ratio of particle modulus to polymer modulus on dynamic mechanical properties are reviewed. The reasons why moduli are lower than predicted and why the relative moduli are temperature dependent are explained. In polyblends and polymers containing soft fillers, the modulus is lowered by the filler, and phase inversion can occur. A theory of phase inversion is described. (Author).
