Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You're walking down a path with Jesus. Discretion tells you to be quiet, allowing Him to talk. As you walk together the length of the path which leads, you know-not-where, Jesus begins to talk to you about yourself. He unveils God's will for you, with each step of the way, allowing you to choose to walk further, or not. He shows you your current life as a believer, telling you where God wants to take you from where you now are. He begins by taking you back in history to His command to His disciples to love all persons as He and the Father loves them. An impossible assignment they conclude, unless it is realized by allowing oneself to be God's vessel for His love to pass through. Becoming this vessel begins by prioritizing one's life around the Word of God. In it, God empowers the believer to be His true vessel. As you continue walking, Jesus describes the criterion for discipleship as knowing God's Word, and walking in it. You learn much as you listen and walk this long path with Jesus. Intellectual assent is not the same as surrendering to Him, Jesus explains; nor can one be a part-time believer. Discipleship requires a surrendering completely and consistently to GodaEUR(tm)s Word, which allows the Holy Spirit to engraft that Word upon the believer's soul. Change results. The likeness of Jesus is birthed in the believer. You and Jesus arrive at the end of the path, which delivers you to His likeness.

Book excerpt: That God loves us is the most profound truth in the universe. Experiencing this love has the potential to answer every question, solve every problem, and satisfy the deepest yearnings of the heart. So why are many people who believe this still unable to fully utilize the power of God's love in their personal lives? In this probing book, Dr. David Jeremiah reveals that not fully understanding and appreciating every critical dimension of God's love can lead to missed opportunities to experience His love. He explains how even the so-called negative dimension of God's actions--hell, prohibitive commandments, pain and suffering in the world--can only be rightly understood by viewing them in light of God's true love. GOD LOVES YOU will enable readers to know God in a way that will consciously connect them with the healing power of His grace so they can experience the life of love they were created to enjoy.

Book I Love Everybody and Other Atrocious Lies

Download or read book I Love Everybody and Other Atrocious Lies written by Laurie Notaro and published by Villard. This book was released on 2004-06-08 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here are more scathingly funny tales from the wild side! Laurie Notaro survived the debauched ride of her twenties and the bumpy road to matrimony. Now she’s ready to take on the thirtysomething years . . . and almost middle age has never been more hilarious. Laurie is married, mortgaged, and now—miraculously—employed in the corporate world, discovering that bosses come in all shapes, sizes, and degrees of mental stability. After maxing out her last good credit card at Banana Republic, she’s dressed for success and ready to face the jungle: surviving feral, six-foot-plus Gretchen (“Three Thousand Faces of Eve”) before battling the overbearing, overstuffed (in way-too-small pants) new mom Suzzi, who ruthlessly cancels Laurie’s newspaper column and learns that payback can be a bitch. Laurie also explores the backstabbing world of preschoolers at a Halloween party, the X-rated madness of a family trip to Disneyland, and the pressure from her QVC-addicted mother and the rest of the world to reproduce. But while losing more friends to babies than to booze, she realizes there’s a plus side: at least for a couple of months she gets to be the thinner friend. I Love Everybody (and Other Atrocious Lies) is Laurie Notaro at her deliciously quirky best. Can a woman prone to what her loved ones might term “meltdowns” (she considers them “Opportunities to Enlighten”) put a smile on her face and love everybody? Take a guess.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If God is speaking to us, then what is He saying? That is what most people want to know. This book reveals God's love language from Genesis all the way into the New Testament when Jesus finally appears on the scene. It takes an in-depth look at God's communication with Israel but also the world outside of Israel. It explores the blunders and calamities that God's people get themselves into and reveals God's response as a love language. Each book of the Bible tells a unique story, and within that story, God is speaking a language of love as reconciliation. The goal is to see God's love even if that language is challenging at times. Within each disaster of the biblical narrative, God reveals Himself as faithful and loving. Even in God's judgement, there is a beautiful language of love being revealed, which is clearly seen in God's exchange with Pharaoh. This book will help answer difficult questions about the Old Testament while pointing out God's method of communication with the people of the Old and New Testament. The aim is to help you see the conversation between Creator and creation as both purposeful and affectionate.
