Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fevered notes scribbled on napkins after first dates. Titillating text messages. It's-not-you-it's-me relationship-enders. In Other People’s Love Letters, Bill Shapiro has searched America’s attics, closets, and cigar boxes and found actual letters–unflinchingly honest missives full of lust, provocation, guilt, and vulnerability–written only for a lover’s eyes. Modern love, of course, is not all bliss, and in these pages you’ll find the full range of a relationship, with its whispered promises as well as its heartache. But what at first appears to be a deliciously voyeuristic peek into other people’s most passionate moments, will ultimately reawaken your own desires and tenderness…because when you read these letters, you’ll find the heart you’re looking into is actually your own. • "i think UR great. wanna have wine & Tequila again sometime?" • "I can't believe you're real, and I think about you constantly in some way or the other all day. I haven't given the finger to anyone driving since I met you." • "With you I learned how to fight cleaner, how to talk things out better, and how to make a strong loving family out of nothing. These are priceless gifts that I will carry with me the rest of my life. One more thing you did for me: you left, and I had to get through it." • "P.S. I look forward to your letters too much to call. Also, where do you stand on chains?"

Book Always Rachel

Download or read book Always Rachel written by Rachel Carson and published by Open Road Media. This book was released on 2022-03-08 with total page 857 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These letters between the pioneering environmentalist and her beloved friend reveal “a vibrant, caring woman behind the scientist” (Los Angeles Times). “Rachel Carson, author of The Silent Spring, has been celebrated as the pioneer of the modern environmental movement. Although she wrote no autobiography, she did leave letters, and those she exchanged—sometimes daily—with Dorothy Freeman, some 750 of which are collected here, are perhaps more satisfying than an account of her own life. In 1953, Carson became Freeman's summer neighbor on Southport Island, ME. The two discovered a shared love for the natural world—their descriptions of the arrival of spring or the song of a hermit thrush are lyrical—but their friendship quickly blossomed, as each realized she had found in the other a kindred spirit. To read this collection is like eavesdropping on an extended conversation that mixes the mundane events of the two women's family lives with details of Carson’s research and writing and, later, her breast cancer. . . . Few who read these letters will forget these remarkable women and their even more remarkable bond.” —Publishers Weekly “Darting, fresh, sensuous, pleasingly elliptical at times, these letters also serve to tether the increasingly deified Carson firmly to earth—just where she’d want to be.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review) “It is not often that a collection of letters reveals character, emotional depth, personality, indeed intellect and talent, as well as a full biography might; these letters do all that.” —The New York Times Book Review “Provides insight into the creative process and a look into the daily lives of two intelligent, perceptive women whose family responsibilities were, at times, almost crushing.” —Library Journal “Dotted with vivid observations of the natural world and perceptive commentary on friendship, family, fame, and life itself, Always, Rachel will appeal to readers interested in biography and women’s studies as well as those drawn to nature writing and the history of the environmental movement.” —Booklist Online

Download or read book Love written by Sorana Berequette and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-11-30 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you asked me if or why I wanted to write a poetry book a year ago, I would have replied, Which book? Now that I wrote it, this is a very easy question to answer. First, I need to say that I started writing poetry about two years ago because I enjoyed the flow of words moving through my consciousness, yet I had little intention of writing a book. In fact, I wrote as I was getting my inspiration from taking long walks in the middle of nature. As I kept writing, I started realizing that I needed to have many messages out, but the most important one was about that which we call love. It is such an overwhelmingly defined word that my humble attempt at describing it became a series of desires just to depict what I was feeling at that moment. It is really that simple and complex at the same time. Second, I began feeling that if I dont write ever so often, my entire being is being deprived of this wonderful life force. So I kept writing away but not in an organized manner. I just wrote about whatever images I was being graced with. Third, I started realizing how the various poems fit together only recently, which is how the idea of publishing this book slowly developed. I decided to self-publish for reasons of timelinessI needed to present this offering before the year 2000 was over so that the new millennium will start out fresh. It felt like the right thing to do. I grouped the chapters based on how I felt we, the old souls of this earth and universe, need to connect with our own essence, within space and time dimensions, and with our soul mates. Light and love are quintessential concepts, yet they are just as real as our physical forms. I feel we all blend together spiritually in the end, so whats the point of separations? Of course, this is a personal viewpoint, perhaps shared by many others like me in their own unique ways. Whether love was in the beginning of our creation, whether it wraps around our daily existence, whether it blesses us with its healing power, what really matters is that we feel it at various points in our lives with a fluctuating degree of intensity. Imagine if we could enhance these feelings, recreating our core passionately! The best of all worlds is enjoying every moment of our lives, no matter how our emotions fill it. If we embrace this way of approaching life, maybe then we can all feel closer to our origin, to our energy, to divine power, to creativity, and to guidance. And love will belong to all of us, will flow through and transcend us in whatever form we choose to interpret it. We all need it, we all search for it, we all give it away, and we are all made to exchange it. So why not start this very second? Thats why I wrote this book!

Book excerpt: This beautiful four-color book opens the eyes of women to see themselves the way God sees them. Many don't even know that they are daughters of the King - chosen to be His Princess. Somewhere between childhood and adulthood, they trade in their fairy-tale dreams of being cherished for a tarnished identity fashioned by their own insecurities and the mixed-up messages of the media. Now, these tenderly adoring letters written from God's persepective demonstrate that every woman is beautiful just the way she is. Walking in confidence toward her God-given purpose, every woman can bless others - even future generations. It's hard to look at our lives and think of ourselves as royalty. But the truth is, God is our King and wer are chosen by Him. As your soul soaks in these love letters from your King, be affirmed of who you are, why you are here, and how much you are loved. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew. Ephesians 2:10, NLT
