Book Room Within The Heart

Download or read book Room Within The Heart written by Sherron Minerva Thomas and published by . This book was released on 2024-07-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Room Within the Heart is a non-fiction novel that encapsulates the literal and metaphorical thoughts of our hearts. It emphasizes how our heart bears love and consciously thinks within the deepest innermost of our being. The book expresses how the thoughts we conceive are amplified in how we live and in our interactions. What the heart feels always shines through; therefore, we cannot truly hide what is resonating inside, realize that "out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks" (Luke 6:45). It is very true that "a merry heart makes a cheerful countenance" ... (Prov 15:13), and "a merry heart doeth good like a medicine" ... (Prov 17:22). Room within the Heart illuminates our secret place that houses our desires, our passions, our pain, our will, our treasures, and our love. Hate does not come from within because we are born in pure innocence; it is derived or taught by external forces that become webbed in the mind. The words are meant to encourage the thoughts we generate to be more purified, humbled, and cleansed from revulsion and animosity; to bring us all into remembrance that love lives within a warm environment and wants to embrace everyone. The more we connect with others with a heart like Christ, our connection influences His love to take root and flourish. Love increases our wisdom and helps us to realize we are truly striving to become better. Like marriage makes a man and woman one, so when we are married to Christ, we all become one body in Him. Room within the Heart is intended to stimulate our pulse of love and as we recognize and amplify the precious Holy Spirit, His light fills our brokenness and removes our darkness. The Holy Spirit wants to be invited into our inner core and take residence there. As a little girl, I loved this song we sang often at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Sunday School, "There is a flag flowing high from the castle of my heart and the King is a residence there" (author unknown). When we allow it to shine through us, we become the pulse of God's love. We are His endless love; His spirit encircles us and emanates peace. I pray each person reading these words feels the peace of God flowing as they are touched. I pray your heart is on fire for Him and you allow Him to take the lead from within the innermost core, your HEART.

Book excerpt: Christians know that God loves them, but can easily feel that he is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. As a result, they focus a lot—and rightly so—on what Jesus has done to appease God’s wrath for sin. But how does Jesus Christ actually feel about his people amid all their sins and failures? This book draws us to Matthew 11, where Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart,” longing for his people to find rest in him. The gospel flows from God’s deepest heart for his people, a heart of tender love for the sinful and suffering. These chapters take readers into the depths of Christ’s very heart for sinners, diving deep into Bible passages that speak of who Christ is and encouraging readers with the affections of Christ for his people. His longing heart for sinners comforts and sustains readers in their up-and-down lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The experience a reader undergoes when perusing a new novel parallels the spiritual probing of Bronte's central characters when they meet other characters. The reader's task, like that of a Bronte heroine, is to look beneath the surface. To Bronte, every true work of art, when rightly understood, was a marriage between Jane and Rochester, between the reader and the author. The Adytum of the Heart examines in detail Bronte's commentary on three famous novels--Pride and Prejudice, Vanity Fair, and Wuthering Heights--and relates each to Bronte's own fiction. The book reconstructs the similarities G.H. Lewes must have noted between Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice, applying Bronte's critical terminology to pinpoint what she saw as Austen's limitations. Wheat's reading of Bronte's handwritten letters enables her to uncover errors and omissions in printed editions.

Jesus told his disciples, "But when you pray, go into your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you." Matthew 6:6. The "inner room" is not a physical place but is the interior place in our hearts. It's that quiet solitude, the deepest part of who we are and where we can meet the Lord personally. As Kendall Lasseigne's life, family, profession and ministry grew over 20 years, so did the constant demands placed on her time, often leaving her world filled with noise and distractions. As her faith deepened, her need to slow down and spend time quietly reflecting, journaling and talking with God increased. This solitude and love for writing became her private retreat, which she deemed her "inner room" This is a collection of the prayer poems which sprang up through years of journaling through life experiences, struggles, hurts, joys and blessings. The book "My Inner Room Prayer Poems to God" is written from the heart; inspired by the soul and invites you to spend quiet time with God in your own "inner room."

Book excerpt: WINNER OF THE 2019 PEN TRANSLATION PRIZE FINALIST FOR THE NATIONAL BOOK AWARD FOR TRANSLATED LITERATURE A mother and son move to a village in northern Norway, each ensconced in their own world. Their distance has fatal consequences. Love is the story of Vibeke and Jon, a mother and son who have just moved to a small place in the north of Norway. It's the day before Jon's birthday, and a travelling carnival has come to the village. Jon goes out to sell lottery tickets for his sports club, and Vibeke is going to the library. From here on we follow the two individuals on their separate journeys through a cold winter's night - while a sense of uneasiness grows. Love illustrates how language builds its own reality, and thus how mother and son can live in completely separate worlds. This distance is found not only between human beings, but also within each individual. This novel shows how such distance may have fatal consequences.

Book The Art of Contemplation

Download or read book The Art of Contemplation written by Mary Angelon Young and published by SCB Distributors. This book was released on 2021-04-01 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written during the global pandemic of 2020, when the gravity of our situation called us, as individuals, to sanity and inner strength. “Sheltering in place,” or “in confinement” as some prefer, we entered into a fierce and strange new world. If we had not actively developed our contemplative side before this, the insistent, benevolent voice of that inner world, so famously avoided in today’s society, now sounded a clarion call. The Art of Contemplation is intended to inspire your own reflections, as I explore the timeless treasure house of contemplation, the reasons we actually need it, and how to work with the blocks that most of us encounter on the way. For contemplation is a journey within, with no beginning and no end, taken from anywhere and everywhere that we find ourselves in life. For the theists among us, our contemplations will organically lead to prayer, just as bud goes to flower and flower goes to seed, which drops to the ground to begin another round of creation. For the nontheists, the inner state of contemplative prayer might be called inner stillness, meditation on truth, or the practice of pure awareness―or even “inner yoga,” as yoga is anything that links us to the Divine. It does not matter what we call it. What does matter is that we, as human beings, evolve in a mutual love affair with the Universe from which we are created. What matters is praise. There is a time to beg for grace to intervene in the sufferings we endure as human beings. As we contemplate our own awareness within the mystery of life, we begin to expand our generosity as vessels of awareness, of awakened consciousness, for our own personal transformation and for the benefit of all beings. Then our inner yoga takes flight. Resting in receptive inner space enables us to rejuvenate and restore, to tap intrinsic healing, intuitive and creative energies, at the level of source water where the river of life flows pristine and we touch the ineffable. The Taoists have a beautiful way of expressing it. Lao Tzu said, “Muddy water, let stand, becomes clear.” Clarity is one of the many gifts of contemplation, and as we build a capacity for the inner journey, a sacred world is revealed in the mirror of the soul.

Book excerpt: As we search for meaning in our world of shallow online relationships and glamorized selfies, many are returning to traditional and liturgical churches. The repeated words, benedictions, and historic hymns connect us to saints who have gone before, giving us a sense of belonging, richness, and transcendence. Written prayers, once cast off as archaic, are now welcomed as guides to tune our hearts to the heart of God. In My Heart, Ever His Barbara Rainey shares 40 prayers for women. They can meditate on one prayer throughout the week or read a prayer a day for 40 days as a way to express the longing of our hearts to our Father who loves us even as he sees who we truly are. Like the psalms of David, these prayers are honest, sometimes raw. Barbara uses these transparent expressions of common experiences to encourage us to surrender to Christ and help us see God as he is, not as we assume him to be. My Heart, Ever His provides a stepping-stone to help you become more transparent with God and discover his welcoming embrace.
