Love is for the poets, not for the peerage. Now, with her elderly husband dead, it's time to marry again. Charlotte wants--needs--children. Given she's no longer a blossoming flower, her pool of likely husbands is growing ever smaller. She studies the current batch of ton bachelors, those she knows are desperate for a wealthy wife, and decides to hold a party at her estate. The catch? This party is for men only, and at week's end, one of her guests will be her fiancé. Marcus Roberts, Duke of Sinclair, is all about duty, suddenly finding himself the last of his male lineage. He agrees to accompany his friend to Lady Charlotte's house party because finding a bride is imperative. Preferably a widow with children. His wife's death in the arms of his brother destroyed his faith in love--he'll marry for convenience only--he won't trust so easily again. All he needs is a bride who he is sure can give him sons. Imagine his shock at learning the only woman at the house party is a widow who is rumoured to be barren. He should leave but as he gets to know Charlotte, suddenly the idea of any of these men marrying her stirs the jealous beast.

Download or read book The Origin of Sin written by David Konstan and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-02-10 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where did the idea of sin arise from? In this meticulously argued book, David Konstan takes a close look at classical Greek and Roman texts, as well as the Bible and early Judaic and Christian writings, and argues that the fundamental idea of "sin" arose in the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, although this original meaning was obscured in later Jewish and Christian interpretations. Through close philological examination of the words for "sin," in particular the Hebrew hata' and the Greek hamartia, he traces their uses over the centuries in four chapters, and concludes that the common modern definition of sin as a violation of divine law indeed has antecedents in classical Greco-Roman conceptions, but acquired a wholly different sense in the Hebrew Bible and New Testament.

Book excerpt: Humans are often ignorant or indifferent about the role of sin and Satan in our lives. In Sin: Satan's Playground, author Kelly Bauserman discusses the reality of sin and how it affects all of our lives when we are not diligent in warding off this enemy. Using quotes and excerpts from the Bible, Sin presents a detailed explanation of Satan's temptations, including materialism, the lust for power and money, and fornication. It relays the importance of knowing this enemy and how to defeat him in our daily lives. It also describes the armor of God and gives personal examples of Bauserman's battle with his enemy, the devil. Through a vivid discussion of the power of the Lord Jesus over Satan, Sin invites Christians to accept Jesus into their lives, live a clean life, avoid temptation, and wear the armor of God in order to ward off the devil.

Book The CHURCH of the LIVING GOD

Download or read book The CHURCH of the LIVING GOD written by Grace Otegbade and published by Author House. This book was released on 2013 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is special, unusual, but not formidable. You can hardly fully read it without the bible; so it is designed to attract Christian world. Because of the long-standing Church controversies about "being under grace", and "not under the law, there are confl icting ideas of what bornagain Christians' obligations to the Lord are supposed to be if you are under grace. This book attempts to clarify this, in details, and should settle the matter for true truth seekers for good. Th is is one of the highlights of the book because this matter touches, not only life, but eternal life too. It points out (not with proud holier- than- thou attitude) areas of life Christians need examine & improve upon, with God's help- but it is not a book of doom and gloom. With every such area attention is drawn to, there are way outs and exhortation of what can be done. - pointing to God, (not the book's author) for the Answers. The author hopes you will not hate the book, but welcome it as Exhortations from a loving sister to her well-beloved fellow Christians, and prays it serves as ladder to Newness of life in the Lord Jesus Christ. The book enhances the loving kindness of God to us; and gently tries to wake the Church up, so we stop incurring God's anger, and start seeking His Favour. Another highlight of this book is the "Call" for united Fasting-Prayers crying out to God, humbly and genuinely for the Holy Spirit- anointing and heaven-sent Revival; to help us truly repent, be forgiven and be renewed. Thus seeking for His compassion, it is certain that our Saviour and Lord will in no wise cast us out.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays considers what light is shed on Pauline soteriology by giving focused attention to the apostle's language and conception of sin. Sometimes Paul appears to present sin and disobedience as transgression, while at other times sin is personified and treated as an enslaving power. Is there a model or perspective that can account for Paul's conceptual range in his discussion of sin? What does careful study of Paul's letters reveal about the christological and pneumatological remedies to the problem of sin as he conceives of them? These questions are explored with attention to individual Pauline letters towards a richer understanding of his attitude towards sin and its remedy.
