Book The Lord s Prayer Live it or Quit saying it

Download or read book The Lord s Prayer Live it or Quit saying it written by Matthew Palai and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-10-25 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book Lord's Prayer: Live It or Quit Saying It is a challenging book that attracts our interest mainly because it is full of reflections on many questions arising from the present society. This book gives us much more than mere spiritual reflections, as it gives us a meaningful experience of God the Father and invites us to reflect on the significance of our lives based on the lived spiritual experience of many ordinary individuals; it poses simple but profound challenges before us to move close to Jesus Christ. It exhorts that without a vision of heaven, our life can be a big loss. Congratulating Shri Matthew Palai for this precious endeavor, I recommend this book to all who are seriously thinking about a meaningful spiritual life. --Bishop Thomas Tharayil Auxiliary Bishop of Changanacherry In a nutshell, the Lord's Prayer is like an antibiotic. If an antibiotic does not work for you, then it will work against you. If you do not try to live what you pray, then it is better not to say the Lord's Prayer because instead of saving your soul, it will endanger it. If you do good deeds and charitable works to go to heaven, you will not get admittance to heaven, and this book tells you why. If you rely only on prayers to go to heaven, the gates of heaven will not be opened for you, and this book tells you why. The existence of God, existence and immortality of soul, life after death, hell, heaven, etc. are unverifiable, yet we should live as if they are all real, and this book tells you why. This book tells you how to become worthy to say the Lord's Prayer so that it does not endanger the soul but delivers it salvation.

We are taught to always pray and not faint, and that prayer is not dependent upon our stature in life. One of the founders of the 24-7 prayer movement, he has seen, experienced, and chronicled amazing works of God in the world. While you might imagine him to be puffed up, Pete Greig is entirely the opposite. He is enchanting, down-to-earth, friendly, and most of all, very normal–and yet he tells preposterous tales about prayer (and they’re true). He is basically a regular dude who loves to talk with God. How to Pray is written to evoke a passion for prayer in everyone—the committed follower of Jesus as well as the skeptic and the scared. The enormous blessing of How to Pray is that it is accessible, full of surprising stories of answered prayer, and tremendously engaging. The basic idea is that prayer is a conversation between you and God. Pete Greig demystifies and reenchants prayer, helping you to find prayer achievable and enjoyable, and ultimately life-giving and life-changing. How to Pray is designed to be used together with The Prayer Course (a free video curriculum associated with the Alpha course), making it useful for personal and group or church-wide reading.

Book The Oxford Handbook of the Bible in America

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of the Bible in America written by Paul Gutjahr and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2017-11-01 with total page 737 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Early Americans have long been considered "A People of the Book" Because the nickname was coined primarily to invoke close associations between Americans and the Bible, it is easy to overlook the central fact that it was a book-not a geographic location, a monarch, or even a shared language-that has served as a cornerstone in countless investigations into the formation and fragmentation of early American culture. Few books can lay claim to such powers of civilization-altering influence. Among those which can are sacred books, and for Americans principal among such books stands the Bible. This Handbook is designed to address a noticeable void in resources focused on analyzing the Bible in America in various historical moments and in relationship to specific institutions and cultural expressions. It takes seriously the fact that the Bible is both a physical object that has exercised considerable totemic power, as well as a text with a powerful intellectual design that has inspired everything from national religious and educational practices to a wide spectrum of artistic endeavors to our nation's politics and foreign policy. This Handbook brings together a number of established scholars, as well as younger scholars on the rise, to provide a scholarly overview--rich with bibliographic resources--to those interested in the Bible's role in American cultural formation.
